This just in from the Geelong Bigfooty board.

Who kicks Melbourne’s goals? Very, very poor forward line for a TOTL team. Yes their defence is stellar but our offence is a cut above AND they have not experienced the 4 Headed Monster.

Who kicks Geelong's goals?

I mean, they did score less than us during the H&A season.

We havent really amassed huge scores this year.

But on paper our fwd line is very impressive.

Bbb and Jackson have been improving each week with bbb having a great record.

Fritta and kossie are two highest are hard to match up on.

Tmac dominated the fwd line the first half of season and at his best is capable of kicking five.

Trac and Max are a lot more accurate..

Its just a matter of them ALL playing their best. Especially our Tom.

Kossie too is capable of doing anything so I get the feeling one day this fwd line will smash a team.

I hope its tonight.

Optus Stadium full - and not full of ferals*!!!

*Well, I can't say that with any certainty, but at the least it's a neutral game for locals, so they won't need to bully the umps into any shambolic decisions. Plus, it's against Geelong, and I doubt there will be many non MFC supporters going for the Cats. So they're ok with me. Today.

So the crowd-pleasing mantra of the umpires (to keep the Cats in the game lest they fall behind - usually at the end of the first quarter) might not apply this evening in WA? Wish we could discuss this trend with them. A sea of red 'n blue, hell, I'd like to be there. Carna Demons!

binman's prediction (sounds more authoritative in the third person):

Game:

I think we will have the better of a physical first quarter, get well on top in the second, come into half time with a 5 goal plus lead, resist a final effort from the cats in the 3rd q, and play tempo footy in the last to win by our half time margin

Betting strategy:

I'm very keen on us making our 12 point line. Load up on the line (even money).

Half time margin might be worth having a small go at too. Back two ranges -   Dees 25 - 36 @ $7 and Dees 37+ @ $11

Good to see you spent your $1000 wisely.

In all seriousness, they have three players who average more than a goal a game: Cameron (2.64), Hawkins (2.54) and Rohan (1.60).

We have five: Fritsch (2.32), Brown (1.82), Pickett (1.61), TMac (1.43) and Petracca (1.13).

Can you imagine if this game in a normal world was at the G tonight? The members would be packed and I reckon we'd outnumber the cats fans. Oh well maybe next year.

We know geelong are the more experienced side and they will want revenge from r23. I guarantee tonight Lever and May won't be able to just sit back and intercept mark after mark and gawn will be really closely checked by Stanley. Oliver will have work put into him.

We need to be ready from the get go. I know they are young but the first final Bowey and Rivers had the fumbles. We can't afford that tonight. We must take our early chances at goal and put the pressure back on them.

It feels so strange that we are in a prelim tonight. I keep thinking my god if we win we are in a grand final.

To all the perth fans going tonight barrack doubly hard tonight for the supporters who can't be there. Please get our boys over the line into the grand final. You are so lucky to be there.

Go dees give them hell!

We'd outnumber then 10 to 1 just as we did in 2018.

Bumped into my best mates wife at school pick up, wandering in to pick up our respective chicklets, she is a Geelong nuffy.

I asked her if she was excited about tonight.. "Na not really, I think we'll win easily..." I was like uhm sorry what? "Oohhh I want you guys to win but I think we'll win easily..."

I nearly tripped her over in front of the whole school.

Couple of beers in and the balancing act between nervousness and excitement has finally swung in the right direction.
Think we will get up by 3/4 goals tonight.

Im tipping Tmac to regain his early season form and kick 3. Also think Jack Viney will have his best game of the season and put in tackles in the double figures. Trac to have a big game too.
Go Dees

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
