Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Scott: 2021 Cats/Dees Prelim Should've Been Postponed

Is my recollection correct that after the game he made comment about the sickness in the group, noting of course it wasn't an excuse.

Anyway we should move on except for one matter, his assertion Selwood is the best captain in the competition. He fairly admits he is biased but is totally wrong and slights a great leader and captain.

Max clearly is the best captain, by a country mile. Why? He has led a team out of the wilderness having committed to doing so. Anyone who saw his performance in the last game of the season against Geelong and the prelim could not doubt his on-field qualities but its his off-field actions that really make him a great leader. His leadership under adversity and against the weight of history is far more telling than individual efforts in games.

Comedy gold.

What has happened to his nose?

Didn't ask the big questions for mine.

Could it have just been the players being nervous and soiling themselves?

How will Selwood duck while using a wheely walker?

Which other AFL captains does he consider come close to pulling cheap frees as well as Joel?

Has Scott considered a run at federal politics?

Has he considered just forfeiting once they make the finals?

I really hope they do make the finals again.

My favourite bit was where Scott says “The last thing I want is for it to be perceived like we are making excuses” to which Damian Barrett replies “I don’t think anyone sees it that way”

"Nah mate, you're not the coach in the firing line this week. It's that other [censored], the one who shoots back, that we're after."

If there was genuine illness among Cat  players - I believe the Geelong medical staff are dutybound to notify WA Health, AFL medical department and Melbourne club doctors for further guidance.

Potentially too severe to keep “in house”

Not a comment that helps this post.

Imagine  if someone you knew a friend or relative has passed on due  to Covid in an Aged Care home.

So many posts can be construed as potentially offensive to someone. Why single out this one? Sheesh, lighten tf up. Please.

Added ‘please’ since one can suggest someone lighten tf up, and still be polite.

Does shirting your pants in the face of an immanent belting constitute an “illness”..?

It was a mistake to disclose that the team were unwell. His comments will be construed as excuses by the rest of the comp no matter how he trys to spin it.

And anyways they were a spent force weeks before the prelim. They were poor against Port and worse against GWS. The only reason they won that game is because the Giants didn’t have any forwards.

Outside of the granny itself my favourite memory from last season was Maxy slotting that goal after the siren in Rd 23. That was soooo sweet. It's just a pity there were no cats fans there to witness it

They were so incapacitated they didn't even activate the emergency player.

[censored] happens. They're not the first or the last team to have some players not 100%. Or look at the Suns. Whatsit King has done his ACL; shattering, but are we going to hear any whingeing from them? No. Are we going to hear Dew saying "I'm not making excuses but we didn't have King all season"? No. Scott's losing the plot. Man under pressure.

He said, in hindsight, it could have been COVID as far as they knew and the AFL had a meeting about it.

But it wasn't, they would of been tested, I really shouldn't be wasting any more time of my life on on a goose such as Scott.

According to everyone's favourite non MFC coach.

Geelong had too many players under an injury or illness cloud and thus the game should've been postponed until Geelong were fit and healthy.

No excuses but flummoxed Scott still wonders why prelim went ahead

“At least eight Geelong players took varying degrees of illness into the match … “

Why doesn’t the media investigate the failure of Geelong’s doctors to properly diagnose the illnesses and to act accordingly? This is a terrible no no!

What a laughable character this guy is. And he should have been more maligned with that stare down of the Lions players he was doing last year.

Never has a game been postponed outside of pandemic, the lights going out, the ground being unplayable, or for war.

So did your team have Covid, Chris? If so, that’s a pretty big controversy and to keep that hidden is surely a fireable offence, yeah?

But let’s give you another chance; Cars fans would love for the AFL to step in and relieve them of you - but let’s not ruin this… happy… marriage.

Great observation - will await Gillon's pronouncement from on high (15 hands aloft his polo pony) of just how unacceptable this behaviour was ... of course not nearly  as bad as a coach having a beer with his players.

I have now heard it all, what a complete and utter [censored] bag.

What do you think is going to change snotty from last year to this year?

Old habits die hard you will resort to your keepings off when the crap hits the fan you tool.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
