  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

7:15pm start VIC time I think.

Oh hell what a horrible day I am going to have. I cannot even go anywhere to relieve the tension and fill in time. This is not news but Covid sucks big time.

Hi all, I’ve lived in Qld for 8 years and have had few opportunities to see my beloved Demons play both in Melb or on TV (rarely screened here).  I suddenly find myself in the enviable position of possibly going to Perth for the GF. BUT as I am no longer a financial member I am asking / begging if any member could possibly give me their barcode to secure a ticket?? This will be my very 1st GF ever!! (I’m 68). I have all the clobber and promise to go berserk in cheering our boys to victory. 🙏 Demonstrate xx

If you're in Queensland wouldn't you have to isolate for 14 days in Perth and thus miss the GF?

Or are you currently in a very low risk state such as NT, SA or TAS?

I might try and brew that day, it will take up a lot of the day and keep me busy. If not I’ll look at ways to be put into a controlled sleep until kick off.

Good thinking, might do the same.

Will be taking Monday off work regardless of the outcome....

The vast majority of Dee's fans live in Melbourne and it is hard to reconcile that we won't see Melbouurne awash with Red and Blue as we make our way to the game.  No bbq's with family and mates. No pubs open to scream and holler with fellow supporters. No dancing in the streets if we take home the silverware. It feels a little hollow.

What will you do in this strange year as part of the build up to the big dance?

For regional Vic's like myself or interstaters, are there any venues who will be holding events for those of us who are luckily enough not to be in lockdown ?

Even with regional Vic out of lockdown venues are severely limited. I know a lot of places up our way in the Macedon Ranges haven't reopened to sit down/in venue service. Only 10 people inside and 20 outside is not worth it.

In saying that I'm hoping to get a table at a local pub for dinner with the family, not sure if I will let my amazing wife take the kids home and leave me there or I'll go home and watch it. Maybe set up the TV/speakers on the back deck and be as loud as I want.

PS the night element of it bloody sucks, I was really hoping to enjoy the afternoon with the kids running around the back yard but they'll be in bed by end of the first qrt at the latest.

Been trying to decide. We are not in any lockdown over here. Options are:

Coco's, a travesty of an Australian bar that once went through the entire hottest 100 until number 2, and then turned it off because 'we need to make a party'. Hotbed of band-wagony filth and Essendon supporters.

Drover's Dog, a more upscale Australian restaurant bar, but run by Sydneysiders who couldn't give a [censored] and likely to be told not to make so much noise.

Mate's house on the big screen. Successful option taken for both finals so far. Contained in a box of nervous energy, with homemade meat pies and a [censored] tonne of beer. Likely option.

Meanwhile, have two weeks to choose which local statue of a Dutch notable is going to get a Dees scarf around 'em.

As my uncle is not well and at my dads I will be going over as a carer (although I’m really a barracker.) Even bought a reject shop Halloween nurse’s outfit as a joke.

Seeing it with my father means everything to me. He got us into the demons. I want him to see it more than I want to see it. I’m just so happy that my uncles last grand final will be a Dees one. I hope he goes out a winner

Is anyone sneakily going to go to a family members or freinds house to watch it?

Absolutely. I went to my best mates place on Friday. Just could not watch it alone at home

not sure what I’ll do for the GF. You would think they’d relax the restrictions but who knows. We’ll be at 70% first dose by then which is not insignificant

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
