Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Two of the form sides of the competition meet on neutral territory. The Lions have had a number of big wins recently but they’ve been against sides that have been struggling so will they be able to withstand the pressure of the Demons took a big scalp last week?

The prize on offer is a week’s rest and a berth in the Preliminary Final. I say it’s not going to be easy but Melbourne will win the prize.

It'd be a huge test for Demons.

But not like Brisbane, we haven't been able to play a game in a "live" stadium for quite sometime ... ok, we had one in Rd21, in a "Boo ..." and " lighting strike" stadium, and we won, didn't we?

The outcome of tonight's game will be all depend on how much they -- our supporters in Adelaide Oval -- want from Demons, if they really want Demons to win, you bet, Demon will just win for them!

Go our supporters in Adelaide Oval, go Dees!

Another AFL final won last night by the team that applied the most pressure and played the the highest intensity.

When I really think about it, we haven't actually been playing all that great for 4 quarters recently...even with a little string of wins. It's going to take 12 consistently good quarters from us to get to where we want to go.

I still think this year is part of a bigger journey for MFC. We need a block of years where we are perenially competitive and ensure a culture shift among the playing group gets cemented. The more times we put ourselves in the kind of spots we are in now, the more likely we will eventually snag one. Hopefully either way they make us proud tonight.

i know what you’re saying makes good sense, but i reckon we absolutely have to strike while the irons hot. THIS year. you never know w injuries and covid how time will play out.  look at the cats , they are perennial top 4 now but since their golden era haven’t snagged another one. I’d swap 5 years of top 4 w  no flag fr 1 golden year with one. it’s THIS year.. this is the moment. do we grab or let it slip.

We have a few players made for finals.

Tracc and Oliver for sure, May, Lever and Viney will give everything, I think Sparrow (power) and Langdon (endurance) will have good games. Can see BBB bringing the ball down for our front and centre, smalls. Jackson has been given some positive feedback with the rising star award, that should fire him up. Gawn has shown great leadership, he won't give up and could perform some inspirational acts.

We have some players who bring pressure to every game, they also maintain their roles.

Our defensive structures are the best and only a few teams have broken us down for anymore than a quarter.

We have belief and the group has bought into the Goody culture.

From the small amount of finals we have played under Goody, I believe his finals games are when he is at his best, and bringing the best out of the team.

Hoping Tmac can turn his game around.

Will Pickett play his best game?

Expecting us to hit them early, then play a bit more conservative and dour.

Bring the heat Dees

I remember reading years ago about a rugby team. Can't remember which one or even if it was in Oz. At the start of the year the coach said "I will let you choose. We can play a fast attractive style that will win lots of games, will probably make finals, but may not hold up under finals pressure. Or we can play a more resilient style where we might not make finals, but if we do, we will go all the way." The players chose the second way. And they won the big one.

We are that team. Demons by 30.

  • Demonland changed the title to GAMEDAY: QF vs Brisbane

Don't give the lazy preying mantis (Daniher) an early sniff, and sort our centre bounce structures out and we can put the Lions to the sword provided we bring finals intensity for 4 qtrs.

My theory is we win this game, we win it all. But lose and we don't come back.

The time is now.

In preparation for finals we've been beating West Coast in Perth and the cats at Kardinia park while the Lions have been beating up on some bottom sides. Their form isn't as strong as it first appears. and they don't travel well

We're riding the crest of a wave after coming from the clouds last week. Confidence sky high amongst the playing group. Belief coursing through their veins. I think we are primed and ready for battle.

Dees comfortably. 6 goal win

Nervous, felt ok yesterday but now that the day is upon us I’m nervous. It’s hard to ignore that this is easily the best opportunity for us to win a flag and winning this week would set us up.

Come on Dees!!

We keep doing things 'right' this year.  Everything pretty much hums along for us like it does generally for the best side in the competition.  That's us this year.

So stuff Brisbane.  Throw the ball up umpire and let's do it all again. !!!

We’ve just got to bring the pressure for four quarters.

Brisbane will want to use their speed and quick ball movement, we can’t allow that to happen.

I don't see Brisbane as having quick ball movement. They're very slow and methodical coming from their d50 to minimise turnovers. Happy to kick to a contest where their talls come up from the Fwd line.

Its then they try to go quickly and they get quite a few goals over the back.

I’m philosophical.
If we lose then maybe it’s not meant to be this year when so many of us can’t be there.

Hoping for a win but I’m excited just to see how the boys go tonight. A lot of unknowns with such a young and inexperienced group.

Yeah, you have to be nervous, eh? The finality of finals is stressful!

Brissy went out in straight sets last year. Chris Pagan won't like another loss in a major final and this team will give plenty.

Maybe a big week of distractions for our blokes as well?

But on the surge we can't be beaten. It's irresistible. Do it for long enough and we'll be in a preliminary final in a couple weeks time.

It'll be a tough one.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
