Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Listened to it in its full context, he was on the money and he was cautious in his approach very much talking about the now, he was glowing in his future expectations of Clarrie and Gus

Yeah I obviously couldn't post the whole article, but I made sure I included that first bit about "they’re going to be fantastic in the history of that club". I think all of us still believe that, no matter how grumpy this year has made us.

Derm yes BUT HOW DO WE FIX IT!

Yes.

Everyone* goes on about Melbourne failing to turn I50s into goals, but it's only Mick McGuane who has taken a stab at solving our probs.

* Everyone goes on about it belatedly. Our problem has been evident for two years, but donuts from the experts.

If Dermie could put a player into Hawks midfield for the next ten years it would be Clayton Oliver............he should be talking about how much manufactured muscle is going to be put into TWSNBN in the next six weeks to get them up and ready.......................

I think Oliver's biggest issue is lack of awareness to lay a shepherd. The number of times in a game he delivers a handpass to a player under pressure that he could shepherd for, but doesn't, would be an interesting stat.

this year clarrie is still averaging about the same possessions, tackles and contested possessions.......but i reckon his effectiveness and decision making is definitely down this year.......in his defence he seems to be tagged more (often illegally) and we must remember he had come off two shoulder operations which limited his pre-season

however, any talk of dropping him is just nonsensical

Did they have any other insights? We know Gus is down on form but that doesn’t explain the fall down the ladder. I heard Plough say we have a good best 22 but lack depth so injuries hurt.

Plough is the only media person who gets it.

Lack of fitness and team synergy as result of a third of the list having curtailed pre seasons. Injuries during tbe seaon. Rgese issues compounded by not having ggood depth (which is insurpriding given where we have come from - tbe only clubs with good deprh are those thst have bee n a round tge 8 for  decade, and gws).

This is the key cause of our issues in a nutshell. Not the only cause. And there is certainly the risk of the issues covering other ones. But none the less they are the key issues.

Not rocket science and as I say plough is the only media person who I have heard be consistent on this.

Oliver tackles last week 6 week before 11...

I think he's keeping up his end of the bargain here.

He could run back defensively more though, he gets caught out on the counter punch a bit...

Composure is what he needs.

That doesn't answer anything.

Why should 'they' be dropped and who would you be dropping them for?

It doesn’t matter who you drop them for, because you’re dropping them to send a loud and clear message to improve.  That message is louder & clearer if you drop them for an obviously less talented player, but one that busts his guts and gives you all he’s got.

Without having listened to it, this was my first thought upon reading the excerpt - Clarry & Gus are world in progress. They’ll get there, but only an idiot would expect them to be the finished article at this stage.

and that is pretty much what Dermot was saying

Defensively he is awful. I'd rather him get 3 tackles but take 5 intercept marks, or lay 5 tackles in defensive 50, than lay 5 pointless tackles in congestion on a player who was never getting a clear possession to begin with.

IMO Hocking's comments re. tackling this week tie in with the type of tackling game Clarry and Co. produce. No impact on the game. Just a rugby scrum until the ball is knocked loose.

Yes Tony

Reward for effort would make a big difference to the team psyche. We must fix our conversion rate. Its laughable to watch our F50 entrys . We keep passing the ball under increasing pressure commit far too many people to the ball then wonder why we are beaten on the rebound. Quite honestly is a sad, sad joke to watch the same crap every game. It must be fixed!

The article is about both players, so that's how I was framing my comments.

Thanks for your well thought out opinion though, always good to know which posters play the ball and which play the man.

Have a good one.

I find the ignore function blissful.

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.
