I have a children's birthday party at my place tonight, so after a couple of hours in the company of 6 year old girls dancing to Taylor Swift and Katy Perry, I'll be shepherding them out the door at 7 so I can scream at the TV in peace.

I haven't been overly impressed by the swans and their recent victories, however fantastic they look on paper.  Our injury concerns and run of short breaks should even things out and I am tipping dees by 10.  Clayton Oliver to be huge and give a big middle finger to everyone who questioned his hardness this week.

Go dees.

IMO their 6 straight losses has shocked them into playing half-decent football. They still have winners across the ground that get them over the line but the thing is the game and league has passed them by. That's not to say they are finished and can still very well make finals. But they are on edge atm. Would love to finish off their season tonight. Just wish we were meeting them in better circumstances with a 7-day break and fewer injuries. Such is life. Go Dees.

There are any number of reasons why we could / should lose tonight, but I'm not having a bar of any of them!

My reasoning:

  • our midfield can match their main strength (which is hardness around the contest), and Max will give us first use more often than not;
  • our pace will get them on the outside;
  • we have the flexibility / options to nullify their game style and key playmakers;
  • our resolve will wear them down.

Dees by 27 points.

I am enjoying my 59th birthday today and hope to celebrate with a melbourne win at the mcg tonight. I will be very nervous and toey when I grt on the train to go to the mcg. I will be going to the Lindsay Hassett room before the game for a nice meal and a couple of beers. It is great to be back on the big stage tonight. CARN THE DEMONS.

Don't know why but I just get the feeling we will pump them tonight. With our ins I see Hunt playing forward and can see him kicking a bag especially if he gets out the back.

Been off work all week. Courtesy of poorly timed Appendicitis (Surgery during first half if West Coast Game - watched the last quarter on the phone in recovery room!). Have had nothing other this game to keep me preoccupied this week...... Has taken for [censored] ever to get to game day, now game day is taking for [censored] ever! Hurry up already!

Biggest game in a decade for us, will be an absolute cracker and no skin at all off anyones nose win or lose. Obviously another win is a huge statement but a loss is irrelevant in the scheme of making and winning finals. How good is enjoying footy again

Should be a classic, cant wait to see if the boys can bring the same intensity as recent weeks.

Does anyone know the last time we won 5 in row? Im guessing 2006.

Really slow day at work, and the minutes are ticking by soooo slowly. Pumped about tonight - will be home on my own so I can rant and scream at the telly. Might indulge in a few Squires' orchard crush ciders to help me through the game.

Eat em alive Dees!

The AFL website almost gave me a heart attack:

"Has a star Giant blown a hammy" - with a picture of Max Gawn.

Turns out that star Giant was little Zac Williams from GWS.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 11 vs St. Kilda

    It's Game Day and after 2 losses on the trot the Dees must win against the Saints today at the MCG to keep in touch with the Top 4. A loss today will see them drop out of the Top 8 for the first time since 2020.

    HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

    Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

    Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

    HALF FULL by KC from Casey

    It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

    GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

    It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.
