Look, I agree. But to be harsh on him, he put himself in that position by diving at the ball with that hip and shoulder to the Tiger player. If that is how you initially got injured. He's a ruckmen, he does not need to dive in. We are an aggressive team, but that is just reckless given his limitations.

I really struggle with that.  Doesn't need to dive in?  I expect all players in the side to dive in when the situation calls for it - ruckman, midfielder, forward pocket, everyone.  I doubt you'd have called it reckless if it had been Clarry - I can't see the difference.  He was the only player in position to impact that contest, so he did, and got hurt.

I'm as gutted as any of you but some of you are a disgrace!

2 men down for more than a half of footy on a wet night and you can't excuse them for running out of steam!

The whole structure was shot when Spencer went down.

Have a crack at the selection committee and fair enough too, but the players could not have given any more tonight!

Season over my arse, pull your heads in!

We have been making excuses for losing for a living for 53 years HB. Good teams find a way to finish, even under adversity.

We are a good contested ball side but butcher the ball way too many times.

In the end shot ourselves in a the foot yet again .

Injuries don't help but dominating games for large periods and being unable to convert us our biggest worry.

Totally agree with this, we dominated them today for 2.5 quarters for little to show for it on the scoreboard.

I've loved this club for so long, but I can't do it anymore. Some clubs are just destined to suffer and we are that club.

Demons hey? You play far from that.

What a lot of crap! The boys tried their guts out all night and they did play like Demons.

oh Jones over your 11 year career, you have been an outstanding player and perhaps within a better team, a genuine 'considered' super star amongst the media, can you please never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever [censored] up, as you are human.

Great player. Love him to bits and always will.

And yes. It was just one moment in the match, but it summed it up.

We were tired and out on our feet, but it shouldn't take any energy to give a word of encouragement and use your voice to position the troops at a stoppage.

Leadership has been a massive issue for over a decade now. I fear that Jones hasnt been able to learn from anyone over that time.

Yes, just the same as we played galently against Geelong. We were crueled by injury. I thought we fought it out very well tonight, and when we can get through a game normally we will be fine. The kicking seems to have improved (it would want to), but we will have a much better second half of the year than the first. And we will get max back for the last 8 games. The challenge is to keep in the game until then! It will be a challenge.

A ruckman diving into a contest like a midfielder when he's realistically our sole ruckmen after losing Gawn, is just careless. He can play with some element of self preservation and still make just as much an impact, just don't dive down into an oncoming player, simple. I don't think it was a matter of bad luck that he got injured, he put his shoulder down into the impact of that contest.

Oh, Melbourne.

I could be angry, but I can't help but be proud.  2 men down for most of the night, one of them our ruckman (again) and we just didn't have it in us.

We can argue about skills on a slippery night, and a whole host of the usual, but while the loss cuts deep I can't help but be proud.  We were totally out on our legs and they ran over the top of us.  There was almost nothing we could do.

Chin up boys and bounce back next week.

Agree. We were out on our feet before three quarter time and don't lose the game until the last 4 minutes. Sensational effort Dees.

All the Watts knockers can get stuffed. Guy is busting his guts for us.

The better side lost, end of story.

Richmond took their opportunities in the forward line - we didn't

Richmond's back 6 held up - ours didn't.

That's pretty much it.

You can still factor in the injuries and that Richmond are still [censored], but if we'd capitalised on our forward play, the Toigs should've been out of it by half time. Just like the last 3 weeks.

Get well very soon Jake

Season over, thanks to suspensions and injuries. Compared to dogs last year, we have no depth and most of our list is still B & C graders. No leadership, Jones isn't a captains ahole, Viney should not be captain. Brace effort tonight but damage done in previous weeks. Our young guns are carrying our leaders.

Yes this leadership situation is a farce at our club.  We have not got it right since McDonald was skipper.  Jones is a tough mid, but don't tell me he is a leader in a crisis, because he is NOT. As for Viney, that is looking like an absolute shocker of a decision.

Yes we lost and we had injuries, but our rubbish leadership in the last 3 weeks has been deplorable. Get the leadership right and we move forward, Im sick of leaderless rubbish at this club.

Why do we always have more that go up than stay down? I see it time and time again. Too many go up and don't win the ball, or at least kill the contest, then their numbers get the ball out the back. It's just stupid football.

Our player's are as dumb as batsh!t and our coaches are even worse for not realising this and corrected for it.

I love him but Jayden Hunt is a massive culprit of this.

Have another drink, Dan.

He was injured early, stuck it out and still gave us something.  Took some fantastic contested marks in the third term and was still able to contribute.

Yet another silly, panic button thread after a loss.

You can be a patronising [censored] @Wiseblood - I'm not worried about the loss - the game speaks volumes of were we are headed under Goodwin in a positive sense.  It's the demo landers perspective of Petracca and how he should 'tear a new one ' each and every game  - he won't because team defence has changed.

16 would have to be your age im guessing.

mfc has so many supporters who cant see the forest for the trees. We will probably play finals next year, but you can forget this season as we just dont have the cattle yet.Or the heart. Heart matters much more than talent.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
