Looking forward to QB 2107 with Dunn lining up on Hogan...

Not sledging Dunn here, but it brings back memories of Rivers standing next to Cloke a bunch of years back.

I share the nostalgia around Dunn, Grimes et al and how deserving they would be of playing in our resurgent team.

But lets not forget they were the players and the leaders in those years of massive, demoralising losses - they must take some considerable share of responsibility for that on-field performance, notwithstanding they worked their butts off.

And, if they were still in our team we would not be the resurgent team that we are becoming.

The club is gave them every opportunity to make it in the new regime and is giving them every opportunity to find a new club without asking anything in return.  There is not more the club can do.

I wish those that leaving well but it is time to move on.

But no one will pay a senior players wage (as he was when the 3 year contract was negotiated) for a VFL level player of his age.

We probably need to subsidise his salary to some level. My feeling is minimum wage plus 50% to 100% is fare for Dunn. At a reported salary of $300K that means about third- half his wage will stay on our books

Good luck Dunny, I'll miss the calls of "if anyone can Dunny can".  You were never my favourite but you gave everything to the club and I wish you luck at the Pies.

that's a bit of a back-hander, vp. did you need to add that?

I sure as [censored] hope we are not paying any of his salary for next year for the privilege of a four position pick upgrade.

Good luck Lynden, but I would have preferred to keep you if that was the best we could get for you.

He always tried hard and had a few good seasons with us down back. I'll remember him for his booming kick and some long goals he kicked too when playing up forward. Hope he does well at the Pies, just not against us and I expect him to line up on Hogan and get demolished ;)

Realistic post. However, I would prefer to see our past performances and the responsibility attached to them, a collective failing of the whole club.   However, pleasing that unlike Jack Grimes, that Lyndon gets an opportunity at the Pies. He will not die wondering.

Well, clearly the Magpies have banked absolutely everything on making the finals in 2017.

I genuinely, really hope Dunny gets to play in a couple of finals and win one. Even if it's with the Magpies. As long as it isn't against us, of course.

As for Collingwod, remember, if they do well next season they'll extend Buckley's contract and then have to sack him at great expense when all their 'new' players retire in a couple of years and they have been completely absent from a couple of drafts in a row. So, all good.

I could not believe that Dunn did not play many games in the backline this year. He must of stood on someones toes. Good player and will be missed.

Dunny! what an interesting case. Was loved and hated over the years, and frequently got bashed on here, but then would reinvent himself in another position and get another contract. He must have played for us in every position but ruck.... or was he one of the 'Bailey experiments? anyway, Great years of service, its obviously more respectful to him to be playing than trekking to Cranbourne every week. Good on him.

Disagree poita, Dunn deserves an opportunity to further his career and that probably wasn't going to happen with us. It's very classy of the club to move him on for peanuts and pay a bit of his salary if it's necessary and we can afford it. Another year in the VFL and it's probably career over but I think he'll get opportunities at the pies and a chance to prolong his AFL life.

Thanks Lynden, your decade of service was during a terrible period for the club, but you'll always be a demon regardless of what happens in the future and I hope to see you enjoying our next premiership success as heartily as I will.

Really feel for the ole Dunny!  Just saw the pic of him in the Pies outfit.  The look on his face seemed to be saying "What the F... am I doing here??!!)  Sad way for it to end for him.  (Well, at least that's my opinion, given I reckon being marched across to the old enemy would be a fate worse than death!)

He gave his all for the Dees.  Shall miss him!

Well it was that or Casey. His AFL career at MFC was over. I think the club has done well in finding him a new home where he will be needed. He deserved the second chance.

Hard to argue against this part though.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
