Farewell Luke Jackson

Lucifers Hero

Recommended Posts

Did anyone hear what I heard in an interview post siren between Jackson and a Fox commentator on the field... ?

Jackson's words on re signing with the Club sounded rather muted. I thought the words were " If I re sign....."

On playing with this group:

”I’m really happy at the moment. It’s so good to be a part of a team like this…and the culture we have here and what we’re building. Yeah, it’s just a great place to be and we’re all enjoying our footy.”

On his partnership with Max:

”…and to learn off a guy like Gawny so early in my career, I can’t ask for much more. So yeah, just loving playing with these guys at the moment.”

On the contract situation:

“Yeah, who knows? Just focusing on footy right now, just leaving that stuff to the manager.”

Nothing there imo.

Well thankyou for your comments. I could not find the discussion thread...  The words " Yeah, who knows " threw me a bit...

"Yeah who knows" was in response to contract size/length not really about whether he will sign or not. Seems like he's pretty happy at the club.

Yeah, leave him alone.

Track wouldn’t have thrown him under the bus like that unless the club was confident.

Well let's hope he and Brayshaw sign sooner rather than later. I believe they both realise they are on a good wicket at the Demons and maybe they are waiting for the new EBA to be released mid year with a reported rise in the Cap. Who could blame them.

I thought he handled it pretty well, considering he's a 20 year old who's probably been told by his manager not to give anything away.

He's not the trained media performer whose 'at the moment' comments should be read in to

Yes. Plus the club is in a different place to when eg Jesse Hogan's body language -- every scratch of the bum cheek -- was analysed to death for clues.

Yes, the last thing we should do is over analyse. But for mine, "at the moment" casts real doubt over his availability to front up against the Bombers.

Why worry about things that couldn’t be helped? Retaining Pike was never an option for the MFC given his behaviour at the time, nor would it have brought us any closer to a flag ourselves.

Stand him down until he signs?

Strong but fair.

Jackson would be stupid to leave now.
He can sign for 2 years, nab himself one or two more flags and then reassess.
It’s not like in 2 seasons he won’t be any good and West Coast and Freo won’t be wetting themselves at the thought of getting him home.
But to leave now is to throw away the best chance he has of being a multiple premiership player.
Besides he has the opportunity to enjoy his footy and do what he likes while Gawn gets all the attention. If he goes to a club with lesser rucks the ride will be much harder for him.

He will re-sign but something has to give somewhere... perhaps no room for Brayshaw

I reckon if you cut Gus, he would bleed red and blue. He will be a Demon for life even if he is earning less than he would elsewhere. There is not a snow flake's chance in hell of him playing anywhere else. And he is exactly the type of selfless and popular player whom others would cop a pay cut to keep.

Harmes more likely.

….as I’ve said before, Club are resigned to losing 1-2 best 25 players at the end of this year to free up space.

We will lose someone in the next year. I’d say Choppers will be the guy as Dunstan is waiting in the wings. James Jordon has been quiet as of late but is still developing.

Yep, I’d be letting Harmes go before Brayshaw. Nut signed a pretty decent contract at the end of 2018 too, so that’d free up some space.

I too think he will sign for 2 or 3 years.

At least that if he decides to ever leave (I personally hope he never leaves) you know we are going to be compensated heavily well.

Two first rounders is a starting point and knowing that Jason Taylor has the luxury early in the draft is scary to think what he could pull out of the hate with his track record.

Harmes would be very upset and it would be bad for culture if we traded him: he’s a lifelong Demons supporter with a deep love of the club, what a dream to play in a premiership with the club you supported your whole life

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
