GAME DAY - ROUND 3

Josh

Recommended Posts

In this 17 match losing sequence of ours against Norf, I have never been to church on the same day of a game we have played against them.

I am in gd spirits and i thinks it's our time to end one of the most unexplainable losing streaks in VFL/AFL history.

Enough is Enough now, time to inflict some pain of our own.

In the first two rounds despite some improvements there were strong hints of the mental demons that plagued us last season and for years before. Today will prove they still exist in a big way and nothing’s changed or are finally on the way out.

Having lost the ability to confidently predict anything, good or bad, from our team.

I’m expecting to be excited, anxious, angry, euphoric, hopeful, despondent and over it.

And that’s just the first quarter...

Then I’m expecting we’ll click and pound these smarmy forkers into the hallowed turf for three quarters as The fairhful roar and release the rage and humiliation accumulated over the past decade.

Looking forward to it.

Go Dees

Slightly conflicted.

Daughter has a 'rock climbing' party to attend at 3:30. Right next to the rock climbing centre is a brewery with a great tap room and also a great outdoor area for kids. Wife suggests she takes daughter to party and I can spend some 'quality' time with the boy at the brewery. I'd need to record the game and enforce a complete media blackout until home...and that would also mean talking to the boy, who I love dearly, but conversations at the moment are solely about cars (Mustangs and Bugattis) and beyblades (whatever the [censored] those are).

Or, stay at home and swear at the TV in real time.

Convince the wife you'll spend quality time with the boy at the MCG. I'm sure she'll be fine at the rock climbing centre by herself. Also it may make your conversations that little bit more diverse ;)

I had a dream we lost and I had an emotional breakdown.

Maybe in 8 hours that dream will be a reality.

Feeling a real lack of confidence today. After last week, even if we are 60 points up at half time, I still will be expecting a loss. North just know how to beat us.

There is more pressure on this game than many think. Or maybe everyone realises it.

In my opinion the finals hoodoo and the North hoodoo need to die together. We only have them once this year I cannot deal with another 12 months of this crap. Get the job done Dees. And then onward and upward to bigger things.

Even the Saints were with them goal for goal for a half.

North are putrid.

Sad indictment of the coaching staff that we lost to them twice last year.

Not so much the second game.

The boys wanted to play champagne football on a day they should have been willing to settle for Tooheys Red. The conditions didn't lend themselves to flair and pinpoint skills but our blokes persisted with that anyway.

We can’t afford to give them a sniff today - we need to jump them in the first quarter and apply intense pressure for four full quarters.

If we let them in the game or they get in front at any point they know we’ll be battling against them as well as our own heads.

At the G with my daughter and I have already heard a  Norf supporter tell his friend that North should win as they only have to stop Hogan and we have nothing.

Time to smash these bastards and their smug supporters.

Just get it done Dees.

When a  North supporter brags about their home and away win streak against us I just remind them that we eliminated them from the 2002 and 2000 Finals series.

They shut up fast.

Tarrant a late out....

I have no reason to doubt you Cards, so this is huge if true.

Could we have possibly known this in advance, hence the reason that we were happier to go in with a smaller forward line?

Good option, but the 'G is a 7 hour drive from home, so I've left that run a bit late.

I have come up with a brilliant compromise (for me) though. Buy some of the local beer and stay at home to watch the game live. All the taste of the brewery plus the footy. As a bonus the boy gets to listen up to some profane language.

Several  years ago I put a nice bottle of Barossa shiraz to one side to cellarbrate ( sic ) ‘crushing the hoodoo’.  Thanks to our abysmal record against NM, it’s now perfectly aged, and should be drinking beautifully.  I’m very confident that I’ll be enjoying it this evening, but not so confident that I'll be pulling the cork to let it breathe before around 5:00pm.  Dees by 30 points.

You don't happen to have a nice MFC cheese board to go with it do you DOF?

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
