Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Serious question with all Goody's talk of culture and standards at the b&f are we all missing something hiding in plain sight because of the Oliver fiasco?

There is alot of mystery around Grundy's non selection in the QF.

I think there’s been enough hints and suggestions about him to give an idea of why it didn’t happen.

Which is what?

With respect, Wrecker… if we’ve all learned anything from the past week, it’s that there is so much not known by us fans, therefore assumptions are made and rumours abound.

There’s reasons decisions are made by the Club, selectors, Goody, whomever, reasons of which most of us are unaware.

It’s natural to question or even oppose the non-selection of Grundy. But it’s not right to assume it was Goody’s choice to not select him. For all we know he might’ve made himself unavailable; IF THIS WAS THE CASE, the Club is hardly gonna come out and publicly announce it, right?!

OMG the “gone to Port” rumours will be up and running soon.

Yes, I'm being serious. That man bent over backwards for me personally with my sporting injuries. I fully believe he was not involved in the Essendon drugs saga. He's one of the most creditable people I've ever met. You wouldn't find anyone that knows him that would say otherwise.

GNS I agree that he was probably a great sports medicine practitioner and a lovely guy, but every health practitioner’s  primary responsibility according to AHPRA (and Hippocrates) is to each end every patient, and is morally if not legally required to tell his employer to get stuffed if he detects any hanky panky at all.
Turning a blind eye is not an option.
I am genuinely happy that he helped you, as he no doubt did for many others including Essendon players, but my point remains.

May said at the start he probably had a few more drinks than he should have as he hadn't expected to be up there.

So his filter was probably a bit askew!  But we all loved it!

Reckon the 'we should have smoked them' will be on McCrae's white board next KB game.  It will go down in Dees vs Pies folklore like 'No duck no dinner'!!!

Langdon and May have rekindled the fierce rivalry of the 50's and 60's!!!  So bring on the next KB game - it should be a doozie!  Lets hope we land the first punch, euphemistically speaking.  Well, except for Maynard: some fierce tackling to make him earn each and every touch of the footy the 'old school way' will be in order!!!  Give him back some of his medicine dispensed on Langdon and Gus.

I suspect I’m in the minority here but I don’t like May’s comments.

I’d rather hear him acknowledge that we’re not as good as them. That we need to find another level, or go to work on our weaknesses, etc.

Yes he’d had a few and it was the B&F and I’m all for positivity and motivation, but if we were better than them we’d have won the flag. We didn’t, so we weren’t.

Really wish May phrased this differently.   Difference between us and Collingwood is that they managed to win the close games when it mattered.

May was speaking to his tribe. that was the audience. i've no problem with the comments. Don't really care what the pies make of it. winners and grinners and they have the cup so why should they care a jot.

reckon the whole pin the comments/newspaper article to the wall old school motivational technique is overdone nowadays. you shouldn't be relying on emotional responses to get a team fired up. it has a place, but if you're not properly prepared and organised emotional drive ain't going to make a difference.

I didn't like the comments much because I don't agree with them.

We are not better than them. Maybe if the qualifying final was played on a Champion data spreadsheet, we were the better team, but the facts are we lost the game because Collingwood came out harder, focussed and were more ferocious at the contest in the first quarter. They also consolidated their lead in the so called premiership quarter with a 4 goal to 2 quarter.

We've lost to Collingwood 7 of the 9 last meetings.

Since round 1 2022, Collingwood have a 38-13 record compared to our 32-17, and have beaten us 3 out of 4 times.

I've been struggling all weekend to comprehend on what basis Melbourne is better than Collingwood like so many posters are claiming we are.

I’m with you.  Mays comments seem to reflect an attitude that we were unlucky, but the reality is we were not better than Collingwood. Half our game was bottom 4 level (the attacking part). The Pies defence was about equal with us.

Goals per inside 50, Pies ranked #2, MFC ranked #14

Shots per i50, Pies ranked #7, MFC ranked #14

Goals conceded from oppo i50s. Pies ranked #3, MFC ranked #5

Shots conceded per i50. Pies ranked #6, MFC ranked #2

And this isn’t even looking at why the Pies deliver when it matters in close games and we don’t.

He was intoxicated so was a bit clumsy in the way he said things. Media as usual is on full assault mode as they look to sensationalize every waking minute of the offseason. My guess is this will all blow over by the time we play them in about 8 months. If the Pies want to hold onto it, good on them, but it will be wasted energy.

Frankly, I’m surprised that any Dees fan would have an issue with this.

He admitted he’d had more to drink than he would’ve had he known he’d be interviewed.

We all want honesty, right? Not the tired, worn-out clichés. We got that.

It was in the presence of the faithful at our own B&F. A gag-free environment, as it should be.

Maysie believes we’re better than Collingwood. That’s HIS opinion and he’s more than entitled to express it.

And finally, who gives a fat rat’s what *Collingwood thinks???

*A team that harbours malicious thugs and filthy sex offenders and had a cheer squad run by a registered child sex offender on their watch. You really value their take on what Maysie said?

Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere but has anyone seen a full list of the B&F? ie not just the top 10?

Sorry. They only seem to publish to top 10. Maybe not to embarrass some.  Political?

602 - Christian Petracca
527 - Jack Viney

Hunter was high in the voting then really dropped off. Bowey. Langdon. Salem. Spargo. All played majority of games so assume they were 11-15. Never know where they had Grundy.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
