PREGAME: QF vs Collingwood

His form hasn’t been great recently regardless. If Hibberd is over concussion symptoms and is fit, I’d bring him in for Bowey. Defense wins premierships, and Hibbo is a top tier defender who can lock down the small-mid size game breakers like Jamie Elliott, Charlie Cameron etc. We’ve got rebound covered elsewhere, especially with the recent rise of Rivers.

Won't happen

I'm happy to listen to any counter points on this, I just think it could be foolish to rule the guy out from the running this early.

As the lead ruckman Max can read the play and In an instant re-position himself anywhere on the field.  No second thoughts required.  No instructions to give anyone.  He just goes.

He can't do that when Grundy plays as he is 'stuck' in the fwd 50.  He wouldn't assert his authority over a rightly, highly respected Grundy and charge up the field to where he thinks he is needed.  Nor would he abandon the role he has in the F50 at that moment.

On a practical level Grundy can't mark which neutralises our strategy coming out of the D50 and it limits his contribution in the F50.

imv Grundy doesn't play, injuries aside.

Grundy kicked 3 goals last game where his AFL best has been 2 goals. Maybe has learned some forward craft?

One was off the ground in a pack. Another was when he was alone in the 50 metre arc and there was a turnover. I think the third was from a free kick but I'm not sure

It seems North's VFL  had a pretty average season and only 5 AFL listed players on the weekend.  Before we get too excited about the propsects of either Grundy or TMac it would be good to have to intelligence on the quality of the individual people they were playing against.  Does anyone have it?

I can imagine Collingwood supporters are gleefully laughing at our injury woes!

They really are a vile bunch of mongrels! 🤬🤬🤬🤬

Most of them are supremely confident of a win on Bigfooty. The main reason being that they’ll be fielding a far stronger side than Kings B’day which isn’t inaccurate.

Looks as though their supporters are bullish off a big win over Essendon because they certainly weren’t the week before.

What a great time to be a Dees fan.

Loved our second half of our H&A season.

Got the pundits on side. Who have dropped the Pies, after their love child went down (J Daicos).

We play, Thursday week, so the wait isn't too bad.

We are at the "G", for some redemption from last year.

We have a tough team, who will not roll over, in it up to the "eyeballs", as they say.

Get Possessed (MFC finals branding theme),

Go Dees.

Their form the last 6 weeks is garbage. They haven’t beaten a good side since they scrapped over the line against Port. They barely got over a dying Geelong and then smashed an Essendon side that was just about the worst side in the competition over the last month.

Yes they’ve had injury concerns, but so have we. People forget how many key players we’ve missed throughout the year. We haven’t had the same forwardline for longer than two weeks. We missed Oliver for 10 weeks, Salem missed half a season, I can count on one hand the games Petty got thru uninjured, Gawn missed a chunk with a serious knee injury, it’s been an absolute revolving door of key players in and out each week.

This will be a very hard game, but we are in far better form and we have a game plan built for finals.

He changes his mind every 2 weeks hence why I don't draw to him. At least Montagna has a bit more conviction with his analysis, I also don't mind Rohan Connolly.

Do you know what the % of tickets distributed will be. Very keen to come over for it.

Montagna is one of the best.

Connolly tries to push his politics down peoples' throats. I was amazed how aggressive he was with it in the lead-up to the last state election. I might sit on the other side of politics to him, but at the same time, I'm apolitical almost always, respect people for their own individual views even if they aren't my own, and don't drain things down peoples' throats and get aggressive when people have different views to me. Unfortunately, Connolly isn't like that.

Yes, these imaginary people are despicable. If it weren’t for the fact that they may, or may not, exist - I would be throwing haymakers down at Nick’s.

Would love Tommy to come in for Melksham but concerned about his movement. If he is moving well he ticks off what we need most.

If Tommy is stuck on the treadmill we are better off playing another runner and play Trac more forward.

Laurie is growing in confidence. Woey and Spargo other options for mine.

Harmes and Jordon are out of the picture.

Quite apart from the fact we want to win for obvious reasons, I’d really rather avoid going to the other side of the draw which will likely end up with a prelim in Bris. Yuk, no thanks.

If we lose we would play either Carlton or Sydney, then if we win we could also end up in Adelaide i guess. Neither scenario thrills me particularly, especially if its wet at either venue.

If we beat The Filth we get a home Preliminary…

When we last played them they were without De Goey, Sidebottom, Elliott and McStay. We were without Oliver and they have lost Daicos but they will be a different proposition to last time we met.

I agree, both teams have enough changes that it’s more of a clean slate compared to the last game, didn’t convey that well enough.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
