Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

No Fritsch in the top 10. Sack Goodwin.

Needs to kick 7 in next year’s premiership to secure a top 10 spot. Don’t be stupid.

Congratulations to all the winners, and especially by to Clarry. Our unicorn in red and blue.

Just watched the videos and was super impressed by Kate Rothey our president. She spoke so well. I think if any of the boys disrespected a female in any way she'd rip them apart. She has a real warmth as well. Her good wishes and inclusion of Glen Bartlett was great to see. She is a very good leader. We are a good club in good hands.

Must have been a great night unfortunately I couldn't watch the live stream as I was watching Spiderman with my daughter. It was great to see Neale Daniher inducted into the hall of fame. Great send off for Nev and the legend Jones.

Fritsch not in the top 10 says how strong a list we really have. Great to see Neal-Bullen in the top 10. Salem in the top 4 shows that the AA selectors got it wrong he should have been AA ahead of Dale. The top 3 will go down as greats of not only the club but the game as well.

Of the wings, Langdon was superior. Bradshaw had an amazing GF and sacrificed for the team to play defensive wing but he still did struggle to perform offensively.

Not a criticism coz someone has to do the hard work but I can see why he’s outside the top 10.

He didn't struggle to perform offensively,

His role was to support the backline and link up with the forward line which he did in a calm and efficient role playing manner. He was never going to be in the top 10 after he relinquished his on ball position for the team.

Will always be able to stand tall for his play all season and magnificent best game ever ( for impact and team play) in the Grand Final.

Angus  like Tmac is a total team player !

Classy and competent. on two points

One above acknowledging Glenn Bartlett, and secondly her comment on the directors and thanking them, most have been along for the ride for much of the dark times , stating her thanks and that people don't see or hear from them, "...which is how it should be..."

Pert is our spokesman and does a brilliant job at it.

Take note Pies and Hawks please. Interestingly the who-ha of the Pies Board elections saw 5000 members vote out or a qualified 12,000, out of a toal memebrship of 80,000 or so. Talk about elitism.

A special shout out to Nathan Jones-  boy did he speak well and from the heart. The standing ovation he received was priceless.

Nice refence to Tmac 58.

Tmac's shepherd in 3rd quarter will go down as the most effective in the Dees history. His finest moment too, to get Sparrows  goal (his finest moment also - so far) done was a GF turning point. Will be in highlights reels forever.

Great result.

If my maths is correct there's 1000 votes on offer if you play all 25 games.

When I look at the numbers there must be some pretty hard markers among those coaches.

Take Brayshaw for example. 332 votes from 25 games.averaging 13.28 votes a game from 4 coaches.

Ie each coach on average gave him on average 3.32 votes out of a possible 10.

Is that right. Sounds too low

Oliver scored 6.7 votes on average from each coach..

What criteria are adopted for the votes is unknown. Impact on the result, commitment to team plans, fulfilling roles, plugging gaps, versatility, innovation at the contest, exceeding expectations etc may also be relevant criteria in addition to accumulation of possessions and scores.

Be proud of all players. They all contributed.

If the voting system is exponential and a 3-4 out of 10 is doing your job for the team then that sounds about right. Gus had a huge number of games where he really was ordinary at best, I'm thinking at least 6 or more where he wouldn't have hit the 3 mark. Then a lot of his games were probably around the 3-5. With a small handful of very good games scoring 6+ that counter out the games where he didn't play well.

Petty had 293 votes in 19 games. 15.4 a game.

Lever 498 in 25 games. 19.2 a game.

May  431 in 23 games (or 22.5 really).  18.7

It's another leap from an average of 3/10 per coach to 4/10 and the role in the team for Petty is easier than the other guys but I thought that was interesting from the leaderboard. Clearly the coaches really liked Petty's year.

Just finished watching the speeches. I saved the Daniher hall of fame induction until last. The tribute from Nathan Jones and Neale’s speech as delivered by David Neitz hit me straight in the heart.

If you don’t like people seeing you cry I recommend watching it in private.

The Norm Smith Memorial Trophy is a coach’s award and this year the winner was Alex Neal-Bullen.

ANB is a testament to persistence and determination, with faith and guidance from the coaching staff thrown in.

Were round by round scores given?  Interested in particular who would have got the votes in the PF (Max obviously) and the GF.

Clarry will go down as an all time great not just of the club but of the competition. Congratulations to him and all winners of various awards.

Interesting (and really good) to see that ANB won the coaches award. I remember when he got unfairly screwed by the MRO for his dangerous tackle against Adelaide last year (deserved suspension but not the length), I genuinely thought that could be the end of him. But the club stuck fat with his, he came into the pre-season same as TMac with a clean slate and rejuvenated attitude, and became the true definition of a clubman and a role player. He clearly loves the club, and is loved by his teammates. I’m more than happy to eat humble pie with my previous beliefs on what he would be as a player.

The other thing to note, as you’d expect from such a great year, is the players that ended up outside the top 10. Fritta had an incredible year, Brayshaw sacrificed to play a team oriented position, Spargo always cracked in, and Jackson won the Rising star. I don’t think any of them would begrudge their positions, they ultimately got to taste the greatest victory of all!

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
