Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Bevo said some very nice things about jason taylor in his post match presser last night.

And many of his old MFC mates, but with Taylor, he has known since they attended kindergarten together and went through school together. Good friends.

Its a great coomentary on Bevo's background and worth a listen.

East Bentleigh represent. 😉

Excellent. Critical now though that our footy dept. brains-trust comes up with some creative compromise to retain the services of Burgo too. I would pay him the same amount for half the hours, current soft-cap restrictions be damned. He can do a pre-season intensive and then fly over once a month, with some zooming and program-writing in between. It's a half an hour flight from Adelaide. And half of that cash-sacrifice would be simply to keep his IP from other competitors. It's easy to forget what it's like not having full confidence that our team will come out in the last and compete until the very end. It wasn't always like this.

I’ve been thinking about Burgo a lot recently, I’ve got two chiclets under soon to be 6 and couldn’t imagine not being near them for any length of time.

After the last couple of seasons, it would take a lot for one to not want to be living right near them every day of the week. He’s given a lot of himself for the MFC cause and if he goes, he goes with my heart felt thanks and hope that he gets to be a key feature in the little ones lives.
I’d be amazed if he and the club could find a way.

I was thinking exactly this: I’m sure they’ve explored this option, but could he run things from Adelaide, with a trip over each week? Maybe it’s a job where you need to be always amongst the players?

Did Taylor repeat kindergarten ten times? He looks at least a decade older than Beveridge.

As to the signing, it's great that we have such stability in the back of house that Taylor has decided not to exercise his free agency rights.

Talking of stability, there's a brief reference in today's Age to the seamless transfer of Chairmanship from Bartlett to Roffey pointing out how that sort of changeover mid-season could have been very disruptive yet is barely a blip on the radar.

With 9 of our regulars 22 and under AND some talent that hasn't yet debuted we have created a springboard for a sustainable tilt at success.

Recruiting like Geelong  rarely works altho it has them up there for a long period. I reckon they would trade all those finals appearances for one more flag.

You could argue hawthorn tried it and succeeded to a certain extent but its an awfully big fall if you get it wrong. Brisbane tried in 2004 as well going for a 4 peat - arguably worth trying with a reduced ageing list.

West Coast look like they are at the cross roads and could easily drop away sharply. Collingwood has no cap space and no draft picks so could be in trouble as well.

Its a fine balancing act and ever since they brought in trading future picks its been a bit of a lottery as to how that has worked out.

We shouldnt be cocky but I think we are in safe hands..

excellent news. I thing clubs talk a lot about processes and hard work, but talent spotting and 'feel' for the game is so important.  Carlton for instance have had similar picks etc and while they recruited some top high picks they missed this whole middle tier of talent.

at first when he arrived and got Oliver and Petracca we then kept recruiting mids and were too one sided with contested beasts, but the last couple of years (2019 especially) we finally got some balance. I think prime examples are Petty and Jackson. When we got Petty we were full with talls especially tall backs but he said for our second pick he thought he was too good to pass up. and again with Jackson he went for pure talent rather than needs which was a classy half back available at pick 3.

I think its important to pick blokes on superior talent and let coaches re-work the game plan.

Do my ears deceive me?!!!

Gerard Healy currently giving praise to Melbourne's talent finders for drafting Oliver, Trac and partic for finding McVee (said Juddy is just about the best kick in the league) and for trading for Lever and May

Though he did give a levelling backhander for picking Weid above Curnow and McKay

Maybe Gerard might even don a red n blue scarf if we make the GF, being Demon alumni and all. Won't hold my breath, though

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
