Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

It was good Clint, would love to hear the call of the last 30 seconds from the various radio stations broadcasting the game.

How do you get the replay on the AFL site? I can't see where it is, can you help?

They should have it under the match centre. Click on Round 23 Geelong vs Melbourne and they usually have quarter by quarter replays in the video section.

Love the excitement of the last quarter. Love it.  It was the momentum building.

We were being embarrassed.  The umps were against us.  The cats at home.  Even the commentators were singing their man-love for Hawkins, Selwood, Rohan, Cameron, Dangerfield.

But we turned it around.

Incredible.  Amazing.  Unbelievable.

Perhaps our greatest victory since the 2000 preliminary final imv.

Saturday was a bitter/sweet day for me. I awoke to the news that a family member in Australia had succumbed to cancer after a long and painful battle  over the last 7 years. Unfortunately over the last few week she went downhill very fast. To make it more difficult, it is impossible for me to get back to be there for the rest of the family. I spent the morning on the phone sharing stories and tears.

Football was not in the forefront of my mind but I did sit down to watch the game to try and distract my mind from the morning's events. My heart was not really in it but I watched through the first half with a heart growing heavier by the minuet. I stayed watching it and did have a thought at the end of the third quarter that with an extra goal or two we might have been a chance.

The way the team delivered really lifted my spirits and brought a smile to my face.

I thought of the Pink Lady round, the Big Freeze game and the recent Reach game, but mostly the Pink Lady round and thought about how proud I am to support a club that works so hard to promote good causes.

The footy is important but we need to ensure we all look more broadly at life.

Go Dees.....

Made up for the commentary during the game where he reiterated the state of play regarding ladder positions ad nauseam.

Buy a new TV and leave this one on forever.

Or AFL will have the full game replay up today on its website. Your call.

Before this thread winds down I just wanted to say how much this suggestion is not a joke and the best bit of advice ever. Love it very much.

I'm still shocked that by now there haven't been more negative/pessimistic posters arguing Geelong put the cue in the rack at the 44 point lead mark and didn't care about the win.

They ran out of puff, and needed their nap.  Throw in a large dose of smug arrogance and there we were.

Thank Lucifer there were no heavy clouds lurking about or we might have seen another 'Devine Intervention' with Lightning Gate II pulled out of someone's [censored] down there to try and save Dad's Army 2.0

Jayden is your, @Jadedand my favourite player (well for me equal #1 with Salem).

It strikes me as unusual (in a nice way) that we, the three most frequent female posters on DL have him at the top.

Desperately hoping we stay in finals long enough for him to get back.

Some more thoughts after rewatching:

  • Sparrow was fantastic (specifically his mark with 6:01 remaining). Showed his talent, great selection.
  • Kozzy is one of the most accurate field kicks I've ever seen, especially for short <25m kicks. Watch his passes, he has a beautiful kicking action and never misses.
  • Rhys Stanley not marking up Gawn was the only reason Max got a free mark and shot at goal. Huge mistake from Stanley as he obviously thought Lever was going for the shot.
  • Petracca's emotion in his interview on Twitter is pretty emotional stuff. Good luck watching that without shedding a tear.
  • Clarry with 26 contested possessions. TWENTY SIX. Agree with Seraph, I think he is the best midfielder this club has ever had.

Watching it again, Lever handled this ABSOLUTELY PERFECTLY. Lined up like he was going for goal, forcing all those big defenders further back. Gawn knew exactly what he was going too. He gave a little point in front of him to the hole. So many players would have bombed it further into the square and had it punched through. Shows we are a smarter team now

You lot have let the endorphins cloud your judgement.

McLaughlin is the worst. For mine he’s the whitened teethed face of the appalling state the commentary of our game is in. Combined with Darcy and Richardson, my ears were bleeding and I’m just glad I was still able to enjoy the game in spite of their presence in the call.

I reckon the rest  of the team did also.

It looked like a set play.  Not one of our players went near the drop of the ball keeping their opp far enough away from Max so they could not intercept or put body on him.  Max had an acre of space around him.

10 minutes into the last quarter and paddy was cramping up.  No wonder he was then off the ground for 9 minutes.  Doesn’t bode well for their finals campaign when the old guard can’t keep up for the full match.

also, Selwood executed a massive, blatant throw in the second leading to the Hawkins goal.  Really, umpires?  And on this topic, the ‘lack of intent’ calls were appalling all night.  Why do the umps love the cars when all they do is whine and scream at the maggots what they should do? (Dangerfield by the point post was an obvious example).

That's why Scott is so adamant about a finals bye, and he might get it yet, assuming the Cats can stay alive that long.

This is good point. It is assumed that the Tigers are so low in the "free kick differential" because they moan and whinge to the umps, so why aren't the Cats equally disfavoured? Selwood & Danger get away with murder on the field. Hawkins and his "carelessness". Etc.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
