Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Highly unlikely x 100.
Anyway Freo would ask for Luke Jackson and the answer would be NO FU&))&N WAY

Damaged goods now, he would be a 3rd or 4th rd pick.  Freo would be happy to see him go, I’d say.

I’d have him back in a heartbeat.

Bad timing, if true. If lists are to be reduced to 40 and eventually 35 as has been suggested, clubs are going to reduce the number of players they put on the list who are deemed to be either risky or project players. Hogan would have to be considered to be a risk given his foot and mental health issues. I wish him well, but if he's going to make an AFL comeback, I think it will only be with his current club.

I’m not sure I agree with this, yes list sizes will shrink but having talent on your list will always be on the clubs radar.

I wonder when the media will read demonland again and report on fox that this is in motion as a possibility.

If what u r saying is true bizzell and I generally give the benefit of the doubt to new posters unless proven otherwise, then Hogan would need to remove that big chip on his shoulder, adjust his attitude and chase and tackle like he has never before. Also stop throwing his arms in the air pleading for free kicks.

Time will tell if u r on the money.

*why can't we have both Gif*

Agreed because Jackson can play many positions / roles and at the heat line down the ground, we'd have two highly mobile, marking-running-athletic-ball winners of note. We now have the smalls in support for the loose balls.

Connolly is a Demon, through and through; played tall, contributed tall, single-minded intent for the Club. If he is onboard with this, I'd believe it, very strongly.

Jesse.?

And lets take  'Offa',  Watts his face back,  at the same time.   Maybe we can call back Carol,  and Chips Frawley,  he's nearly cooked.

I can only think of one player who left us and came back again. That's Carl Ditterich (who may be unique in the VFL/AFL having done that with two clubs). Have there been any others who left and came back as players?

Edit: Did Gary Hardeman do that or did he play with a non-VFL side?

Really? That seems a little soft. In these trying times we all need to show a little more resilience. Seems you are running away a little early. If you have good info, stick by it and ride out those that question it. They are just trying to separate the wheat from the chaff. So long at at isn't abusive don't take it to heart.

Hope your info is correct. Would be great to have a fit and healthy Hogan back at the Demons!

Ignore the negative feedback, just part of the fun on Demonland (some posters vitriol is hilarious if you can view it the way that a lot of social media should be treated!)

Beg to differ. There is considerable doubt. The fact we went deep into September without him is proof. The oft repeated stats of his MFC performances against better teams is further proof

This is all moot anyway, as the OP is trolling

Surely going deep into September means being competetive against any of the best 3 teams (WCE, Coll or Rich) in a prelim

All we did was beat Geelong and Hawthorn.

No, but they've certainly not even been close to being grand final worthy teams since 2015 in the Hawks case and 2013 in Geelongs. Bit of a stretch to plan our future premiership attack on a forward line that defeated them both in 2018

Im beginning to think there may have been some truth in the Clarko quip about dancing fron the rooftops.

Hawthorn finished the HA season a game clear in 4th.

It was a very good win.

Yes, but i am only disputing that we went deep into September. Producing some kind of competitive performance verging on an epic tussle, win or lose, is surely a better criteria of depth than just making a prelim. Showing up in the 3rd week in more than just name.

Did The Roos go deep into September in 2014 and 2015? People scarcely will remember they were even there.

The more i see people whip out this 4 week block as our measuring stick, the more i am repelled and feel like the real foundational hard work came from winning 10-12 matches in the 3 seasons leading into it. You only have to look at 2019 to see how fast it can all crumble with the advent of improved teams league wide

Which brings us back to the question of Jesse and the work HE DID in that period from 2016-2018. Why are we so quick to devalue it?

If he can return to that, how much is he worth to us in light of our current woes. Probably a lot more value than an inconsistent season from Gus again.

Didn't say that. You are putting words into my mouth unnecessarily.

Those that think Hogan would take us deep into September are living in la-la land. His well discussed record against better teams says it all.

Wish him well, but he will remain an unfulfilled talent.

Why would anyone think that Freo (or any club for that matter) would be remotely interested in Spargo?

And a bag of chips? Wedges perhaps.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
