Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Farewell Jesse Hogan

Well if the clubs list managers knew that Jess was going to have a season ending  mid year injury then  I do have a lot more faith in them .He not the club instituted the move back to WA and we accepted a lop sided trade  in return.I am dismayed by the patent schadenfreude being displayed in  this thread .He has done nothing to merit this. There is absolutely no evidence that's been produced to suggest his problem is career  ending as much as some wish this to be the case..We have nothing  remotely as talented as Jesse  in the forwards and I would have him back in a heartbeat.

The MFC was very good at covering for Hogan throughout his time at Melbourne.  He regularly presented them with off-ground challenges regarding his behaviour.

And it's not like Freo weren't aware he had issues, which is why Bell nearly backed out at the trade table.

While the club would have been happy to retain a fully committed Hogan they knew what they were doing by letting him go.

Hardie called only three days ago that we wouldn’t sign Bennell, Hagdorn has made some ridiculous calls over the years. He’s won an award? In today’s journalism standards how is that even worthy of acknowledgement from an anonymous forum poster?

LOL. Keep it going big fella.

The moment the club posted video of Topper Harley kicking goal from the boundary it was obvious we would sign him.

No but if you do a little searching there's plenty being said. I would expect most of it to be wrong, but some self proclaimed eye witnesses are saying he is in some personal trouble. I hope he is OK

I really hope Jesse gets the right help. My impression was that he had solid friends at the Dees who helped him a lot and I doubted a return to Perth was the answer.

I wonder if he would return to the MFFC if the carrot ? was dangled?

Right now I don't think carrots will work. It would appear he is just in a bad space. Rational thought is simply not there. He needs professional help, I hope he is getting it.

I think you are making the mistake of thinking that everyone is driven by money or other incentives. It's just not the case as evidenced by Tom Boyd.

Everyone is different.

Nowhere have I talked about Hardie.

I'm not sure why you're bringing him up other than to try and continue the personal gripe you seem to have with me for some reason.

Posters, I'm assuming including yourself now, were calling Hagdorn a 'hack' and saying he's not connected, wouldn't know anything etc, so I pointed out it was only a few years ago he won a pretty well respected media award for his news breaking work.

But cool, let's just continue with the 'all media are hacks' and 'I hate people on the internet I've never met' narratives because that's really mature.

I’m not the one making up stories here, Lord Irony.

Did you read the article or just the headline mate?

"Radio 6PR sports reporter Kim Hagdorn revealed on Friday Longmuir had other options and might now be lost to the Dockers."

“Adelaide also want to talk to Justin Longmuir urgently,” he said.

Hagdorn said that if he was out of the race, the Dockers could move forward with an appointment faster as they would not be waiting for Longmuir’s Magpies finals mission to finish before he could engage in the interview process.

Pre-season supplementary selection still possible.

The question is, would Hogan be an effective top-up to cover Nietske?

The Answer is YES

FWIW I  have heard that part of the problems Jesse might have involve some falling outs with several high profile Freo players !

Would have him back in a heartbeat!

Footy , back at the Dees might well be part of the solution he needs!

Two hacks walked into a studio.

Speaking with Kane Cornes, Hagdorn said the club was at such a “frustration” with the 24-year-old that they were considering all their options to cut ties ahead of the new season.

“I’m not tip-toeing around it as much as others,” he said on SEN Mornings.

“I do understand how officials at Fremantle and even those at AFL House (are sensitive about this) – it’s probably the AFL’s biggest issue is the mental health concerns amongst some of the athletes.

“I think Fremantle are at such a frustration with Jesse Hogan that even considering all that, they’ll have to come to an agreement where he vacates the club for a very long period of time and ultimately I don’t think he’ll be going back to Fremantle at all.

“A player with mental health issues can be put on a long-term injury list and then be reconsidered at a due time well down the track and a player can replace him.

“Ultimately, I don’t think Jesse Hogan is in a position to play football with Fremantle again. Not only has it become a major issue, his habits away from the club which have unfortunately been fairly public over the last 11 months.

“Now it’s gotten beyond the playing group, the senior players and now even new senior coach Justin Longmuir, who I understand, are of the view that we should move Jesse (Hogan) on.”

FMD Hackdorn won an award, as you're aware McQueen from listening to 6PR he is off the mark more often than not.

Jesse Hogan has taken time away from football to deal with mental health problems. He has not quit the game, nor has he been asked to quit by the club.

Neither are the Dockers poised to do so any time soon.

l wonder if some players are better away from their home states where they socialise and rely more on the friendships they form with other players at their club and benefit from the underlying peer group influences. jeff farmer also had many more issues when he went home.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
