Don't reckon it'll be this week based on the Plapp report - sounds like he still has cobwebs to be blown out. You would think he'll get another run sooner or later though.

Even as I was writing this, I was thinking "now that I've said this, it's sure to be wrong" and I was right. You'd think Smith will play based on that bench.

Stretch, Kent, Wagner, Smith for me.

I don't want to rush him in, but I really want to see Joel Smith named in the final 22 considering White has been dropped and we're missing a head at half-back. He might also bring in some much needed team flexibility and allow Bernie and Lewis to play in the midfield which would solve our no Viney and Tyson dilemma.

I'd take Stretch, Trenners, Wagner and Smith.

So happy to see Trenners get picked. I know I should just care about the team winning but i just really feel like he is a servant of the club and deserves a chance to prove he can still make out at the highest level.

I'm betting he is going to have a special game. Come on Dees!

Stretch has to be dropped if we're fair dinkum about doing the hard things. 2 weeks in a row he didn't put his head over the ball when he should've.

Have to agree with the sentiment, I'd love to see him smash it.

Our midfield is going to get pantsed

Definitely a chance to get smashed, but a starting three of Petracca, Oliver and Bernie/Lewis doesn't sound too bad. We'll struggle for quality depth through there though.

No Maynard?  I was way off, then.

Great to see Jesse and Jeffy back in our forward line.  Just having Hogan back should give the boys a huge lift coming in to this game.

Vince and Lewis are both named on back flanks, but you would assume that they will spend far more time through the midfield this weekend.  For that reason you could assume that Wagner keeps his spot and Joel Smith also comes into the side.  Neither gives us a huge amount of run but they may get rotated through there with Hibberd and Hunt.

After those two it's a raffle.  I don't think Weideman plays, so it's down to Kent, JKH, Stretch and Trengove.  It's anybodies guess from those 4 players.

Edit - and underestimate our midfield at your own peril.  It's a little light on for depth, but we will still run plenty of experience and talent through there during the game.

What chance We don't have as many coming off the back of the square?

I think any chance we have for quick entries into our f50 with Hogan back and to he it away from their mids asap might be a tactic at times on Sunday.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but the Facebook vid the club put up lists 4 ins and 4 outs, and doesn't mention Trengove and a couple of others included on the extended bench. It says...

In: Hogan, Kent, Garlett, Smith

Out: Tyson, Bugg, Viney, White

Stretch was really disappointing against the Swans but I thought he was very impressive against West Coast. A number of our impressive plays from that night (especially when the heat was on) started from a Billy handball from the bottom of a pack.

I said earlier smirh was a chance to be pucked sooner rather than later (before rbe article about him being the nominated rookie ill hasten to add) but surely he doesnt come in after only one vfl game, partic after plapp said he wad rusty

Trengove stretch Kent and Wagner for mine. Wagner last chance and Kent better show something he has shown he is capable. Smith not ready after 1 game back jkh has never impressed at afl level. The weed not needed with pedo and Hogan in the team plus tmac

With Jesse and Garlett in, it will keep the Blues defence honest!

Especially as Marchbank is out for the Blues

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
