WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - TOMAS BUGG

I think Tomas was recruited to play the small lockdown defender role (particularly so given Jetta's concussion history). I see the two of them battling for the one spot. Good pick up IMO.

Actually looking at the footage posted of him on the MFC website he looks pretty handy onball and in the forward half with a good awareness of where the goals are. I would prefer to see him with an onball/forward role!

Could be used as an upgrade on Matt Jones for that role of defensive forward that rotates through the middle

To me, Bugg seems like he will be a solid contributor. Nothing flashy, just a solid week in-week out contributor. Right now, that's better than having blokes like Mckenzie, Bail and Co. running around providing nothing.

I hope i am not the only one who thinks this, but giving away that future 1st rounder will make it really hard to land Prestia next year..

A little harder but he is out of contract and there is goodwill with GC. We might have to trade out our 1st rounder in 2017 for example. Or we might trade out a Kent etc

Next year is next year. We need immediate improvement and the club seems to have identified those it considers expendable and/or not competetive enough or without the required skills. etc. It also knows we need talent and we have 6 top 10 talents in the past 3 years which makes us more able to attract good players in future..

With players holding such a whip hand now, if Prestia wants to come here we will get him.

When do the new guys come to the club and meet their new team mates? Do they bring the whole list back now and do some kind of meet and greet BBQ type thing or do they just do it when pre season starts?

I wonder if Melksham and Bugg will not only help release the power of Salem to the midfield, but also help us be less reliant on Lumumba's turnovers.

no wonder about it :)

I think Salem will stay at half back for at least another year. We still need kicking there.

Melksham half back taking Howe's spot, Bugg floating between midfield/wing/half back depending on who needs tagging ie the Cross role.

Lumumba will either play on the wing or if Stretch/ANB/Newton all come on quickly then he'll be at Casey.

I think a handful will be given rotational duties/roles through the guts in 16... sorta blooding them and bring team up to speed

hopefully by next year we will be a club that Prestia and others really want to come to, I am sure the FD can work out a deal somehow, maybe giving away late round picks etc again so they can get points to again go after academy players.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    GAMEDAY: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
