Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Hunts out injured and as for Garlett, there's a position there for him if he pulls the finger out at Casey tomorrow. Same for Weideman...

Hunt is out injured for 4-6 weeks. Agree Garlett needs to come in. Our forward line is a shambles and needs a spark. He can provide that spark and is a genuine goal scoring option.

Petty and Baker must come in we are too slow and small down back. Garlett must also come in.

Forget about the 3 tall forwards and drop Tim.Smith, drop Joel as well and drop Petracca he's been disgraceful. Hogan hasn't been much better the last 2 weeks he must lift.

IN: Petty, Baker and Garlett

OUT: Tim.Smith, Joel.Smith and Petracca

Doesn’t matter who plays well at Casey tomorrow. Garlett can kick 10 and the usual suspects will bob up to say it was against an amateur side in Coburg.

Love it when people suggest Garlett doesn’t do enough in the VFL but we bring guys straight back in without playing VFL.

I would like to see Garlett back in the mix. I feel we're throwing away an asset due to a stubborn insistence on performance at the secondary level - which is reasonable, but you also have to manage your particular players in terms of their specific strengths/traits/personalities, and Jeff has never had the mojo at lower levels.

Kicked nearly 120 goals in the last few years - a good many from rewards for forward pressure - and that potential doesn't evaporate overnight after a couple week performances. Charlie - love him - won't be offering anything anywhere near that in the short-term.

Injured/dropped (I can't recall - but I think an ankle) in 2016 and came back and kicked 4 the next time out. Dropped (this time pretty sure) later in the year and - after doing nothing at Casey - came back and kicked 4 on recall.

Missed last year after West Coast (I think again as a wake-up - and did nothing in the reserves) and came back and kicked 3 against Carlton. Won the match for us this year v Brisbane with 4, backing up with 3 the following week, and two weeks later he is gone (when we got hammered in the middle by Hawthorn and Richmond).

We simply can't afford to leave him in the wilderness based on some strict KPI's - one of the league's classiest finishers. Please, Goodwin and co. - be flexible in your approach and bring Garlett back in.

Next week probably isn’t the week to bring in another tall back like Petty, there isn’t an obvious match-up requirement. But I’d like to see him sooner rather than later in a game with two big opposition forwards.

I’d swap Tim Smith and Tyson for Weid and Garlett.

Weid in because, while I like Smith’s endeavour, he just doesn’t impact the game and was smashed by Dixon and Westhoff in the relief ruck role tonight. Garlett in for Tyson as we are already balls deep in inside mids but someone who can add some spark would be welcome. We were crying out for an opportunistic goal almost all night and Jeffy seems to have that ability. ANB hangs on despite the awareness and skills of my 16 month old son because he adds a little bit of value with his F50 tackling.

sorry a message needs to be sent

Hogan probably stays on this years form. Love Trac but like Hunt needs some time to get himself right in the magoos

I think its nearly time for Garlett again,,, but also it could be Spargo who may come back in, after a week off ?

If not Spargo, maybe Baker to a wing ?

I wonder if Petracca needs a week, to rest his weariness off ?

I would not drop Tyson after just the one game...  and similarly, Joel smith. I like his size difference down back flank. And he needs all the in-game development he can gather.

We very nearly, (and should have) taken the points over in Adel' town.   And we had so many players just a bit off touch, because of intensity.

So thee is very little to do at the moment.  Except continue getting games together as a unit,,, while they deserve them.

Very open to dropping Harmes and Petracca but the forward/mid stocks are light on as it is and we have to redeploy Fritsch to half back to replace Lewis and bring in Spargo as is.

Petracca's fine. He had more disposals and more marks than his fellow forwards, ANB, Melksham and Hannan, and I don't see too many calling for their heads.

People should stop expecting him to be the second coming.

Im calling for ANB's head.

Does absolutely nothing in tightly contested matches, aside from running around creating packs.  Has great effort and tries hard and clearly loves playing for Melbourne which is great, but an incredibly limited and over-rated footballer, who the opposition would be putting no time into.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
