Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

New thread , keep the weed!

If I was Frost and Weed, I would look at least look at offers elsewhere for guaranteed game time.  If it wasn't for Lever going down and Hogan's foot, both would be playing at Casey.

Good thing we can trade them and get something in return.

I'd have Frost ahead of O. McDonald but that's just me.

Held his marks and nailed his goal early, then started dropping them and missing chances. If it's just fatigue he can get better and better. That said, they did move McGovern forward for a fair bit so he was on a flanker. Easier to get the ball but even more chasing required.

Would like to see Sam build for next week especially when he's not playing in the Perth heat. The more he can ruck the more we can rest Max effectively.

As if we’re going to let either of them go other than for massive overs

Frost would be depth at most finals-bound clubs and for the moment has guaranteed himself, injury-permitting, in finals football in 2018

Weed is a young developing key forward who has played bugger all football as a junior and there’s no way we’ll let him go

He was fantastic today, really attacking the ball and kicking it beautifully

He was cooked by midway through the third term but buttered up at the contest time and time again

Saw three of his junior games and still think he’ll be the pick of the key forwards of his draft year...Curnow or no Curnow

Kid has what it takes to be a serious, serious footballer

Got what I asked for, he created a contest and while not the greatest game ever he was good enough to keep the defence honest and should play next week.

Good fair comments OD, looks like a goer too........

His tackling was a feature today, a vast improvement from when he last played at the tolp level.

His aerial work is good, just need the hands to hold the marks.

I'm keen to see how he goes against the Giants.

I’m just waiting for Weid to start sticking his marks. He is our most aggressive and component tall forward in the air, he just needs to start clunking them. He just launches at the ball so well, a really good leap, it would be a shame if they never stick. The coaching staff are really bullish about him becoming an aerial threat in the future.

Part of it is fitness and concentration for Weid. He’s one of the most aggressive tacklers on the list, but once he get what tired he stops sticking them. Hopefully he continues to build fitness, as the aggression and technique are already there.

Here’s hoping this weekend it starts to come together more consistently.

Good to see Weid stick some of those marks and tackles today. The only thing holding him back is fitness IMO He's got a great leap when flying for marks, and he's an aggressive tackler. You could see in the third quarter he was buggered and his tackles started to slip, but he kept pushing himself to more contests and managed to interrupt a few Eagles forward movements.

Weid will become a good AFL player. It's just going to take a bit more time to build fitness and concentration. He'll grow in confidence once his body is capable of producing four quarters of AFL level footy instead of one-two. He has all the physical attributes and skills to make it. Keep it up for the rest of the year Weid!

Even now, at such a low level of development, all Weideman has to do to be a solid B-grader is to hold his marks. With more development, and providing he could hold his marks, I see no reason why Weideman wouldn't make it as a really good player. Looks a safe bet for mine. We just have to be patient. He should be in for a really big 2019.

Had around 15 touches and contested in the air well. I think he gave us more of a contest in the air than what Hogan has been giving over the last few weeks. Today was a good step for him and you can see the effort and desire is there. The rest will come with time hopefully.

Cant believe how much he's bulked up? Or do I have my rose coloured glasses on? Looks strong, has a big leap, he'll start clunking those marks soon and when he does look out. He kind of reminds me of Jarrad Waite in some ways with that spring n his step. Still question his kicking though, it'll come as he gains more confidence.

How many games has Weed played in succession?  I recall him getting picked then dropped...then picked and dropped and so forth.

One thing that Goodwin and Co have done poorly IMO is not giving guys at least 2 games to shine.

Yes his marking looked great today and will probably play next week.  But young guys coming in, shouldn't have the shadow of the axe over them constantly.  Most guys with reputation are given a licence to have a poor game or two.  Yet young kids aren't given a licence for at least one.  Many a great coach has picked a kid and guaranteed him two or three to remove focus from the axe above.

I'm not sure I can agree with this statement. Generally I think Goodwin has given players at least two weeks to prove themselves. There have been exceptions (White last year and Petty this year come to mind, but both looked well off the pace in their single game).

Showed heaps in a very high pressure game. Was quiet in the second half, but that is to be expected when he has barely played any AFL games and it was very warm. We played a lot smaller in the second half too with Hannan and Melksham deep forward and even Oliver at times.

Really pleased for him. I especially loved how confident he looked. Absolutely did not look like a kid out of place out there anymore. He believes in himself now.

Yep me too

I don't buy the Richmond smalls Forward line. even though it has worked for them teams are constantly looking for innovation!

A three Prong TALL forward line of T Mac, Weeds and Hogan depending on HOW you set them up with a Milkshake, And others might force a few teams out of their comfort zones based on matchups and mobility factor!

Apparently there was a poll by a Dees forum on Facebook asking supporters who should play against West Coast out of Pedersen or Weideman.

Pedersen was chosen by 70% of supporters.

It merely confirmed my long-held views.  Most Melbourne supporters are clueless about footy.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
