PREGAME: Rd 04 vs Adelaide

Recommended Posts

Danger game given they will come out firing at 0-3, copping it in the media and playing at home in prime time.

However we showed great resilience, discipline and character last week.

Ride the storm early and maintain our defensive set up and we should prevail in another tough one

Sometimes when Kozzy flies for a hanger, he's 1 v 2. At least on those occasions he prevents an easy opposition intercept mark.

I sincerely hope May isn't selected for this match. As a broken ribs victim I can assure fellow Demonlanders that you don't recover in a coupla weeks!!

If Chin is still injured, perhaps it gives AMW a chance to debut?

I've been reading the Crows bigfooty posts. Wow!! They rate their team and coach very poorly. Looks like Tex is pretty much shot ... either injured (back?) or just past it.

Not sure who comes in if Hore is injured. One thing for sure ... it won't be Tomlinson. We won't need another tall v Crows, and even if this were not the case, the FD seem to hate poor Tommo.

Or gives away a free for unrealistic attempt

Its a shame that McAdam is underdone, as would have liked him in for Chandler (assuming he doesn't get up). May for Hore, if minimal risk of exacerbating the rib injury...

Reckon minimal change with Chandler getting up and May in for Hore.

Plus, while we need to respect the Crows, it feels there may be a bit of blood in the water around the Crows, and we should be aiming to hit them hard from the first and try to belt them for the full four quarters. JVR to fill his bucket.

Go Dees.

If we did decide to go the path of including Fullerton, who would make way for him?

I think they will probably stick with Jvr rucking. His tap work isn't the rest but he's ok at ground level follow up.

Deev, I think his strength and tapwork for an undersized ruck is really good. I also noticed a stat where his percentage of taps to advantage is slightly better than Max’s! So not too shabby.

Hard to believe that there are a few bloggers who think we have this game in bag. The Crows will be so fired up for us it ain’t funny. If we win this we are in great shape, but psychology this week is all in Adelaide’s favour, irregardless of how much better a side we are than them.

Hopefully we rest a couple of those with knocks given it is just a five-day break.

Hard to see Chandler playing and even though I agree with those who say May shouldn’t play, I am sure Goody will rush him back.

Billings spot also in question.

Hopefully Kolt plays but I reckon they will bring in Laurie for Chandler, May for Hore and Woey for Billings with Kolt possibly the sub.

Billings was sensational vs Hawks and has credits. Laurie um no! Kolt, Mc Adams perhaps better suited!

How a fractured thumb keeps a player out for 3-4 weeks but breaking three ribs and a vertebrae is 1 week I'll never know.

Shows the importance of the thumb in handling the ball I suppose.

Disco only a week away helps with our flexibility down back.

How good is to have someone like him to return!?

I really hope he gets a solid, undisturbed run at it. With some injuries, there's a really good opportunity for him, he just needs some luck with injuries - can really cement a role for the year.

Heading to Bowral NSW tomorrow for a wedding.

Would anyone know any pubs / venues that broadcast AFL for Thurs night by any chance?

Interesting proposal to replace Hore who has sore ribs with May who has broken ribs

Edit - Just saw thumb report

Wouldn't a team at 0-1, 0-2 and on 0-4 come out firing? How many rounds in on '0 wins' does it become a non danger game and you can see a team for who they are, that is, just a bit off the pace overall for the leauge?

Or are they all danger games for the team that you support when they come up against that sort of team because, well you know... MFCSS?

What about the Gold Coast. do they ever cop it in the media, perhaps the Gold Coast Bulletin doesn't care to really report on them, thus doesn't influence the GC Suns performance?

So many questions 😃

Anyway, I'm being a little provocative.

It's such a tight league due to the spread of athletes, that all opposition are respected..except maybe WCE...

Your last sentence feels about right though!!

So the list says 3-4 weeks, but Selwin Griffith in the actual update says hopefully it's just 2 games. Assume that is due to us having the bye after Brisbane?

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
