Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

It’s just Groundhog Day every time with this team.

It really doesn’t matter how many times you get the ball , you’ve got to be able to do something with it.

We still have the same forward line coach in Stafford, surprise surprise!

Horrible to watch, fumbly and wasteful and zero connection with the forwards.

If Schache gets another game next week I will not be there.

Stafford was there in th flag ..  I think it stems down to no brown or Tmac who were no match winners but created contest ..  loss of Jackson is starting to hurt

Can you believe Schache was a sub over Grundy in the final v Carlton .. how the hell is this guy getting a game

Hard to believe. Even harder if you had seen Grundy's last game for Casey previously. Inexplicable.

How could you lose Grundy and keep Schache who has had plenty of chances.

Pathetic.

Oliver was clearly not ready. Schache, Chandler and Laurie are not AFL standard.

Thank goodness for our defence. This could have been a blood bath.

Despite Ollie's lack of preparation he was a solid contributor.  Who else would you have played?

Terrible handling of the wet footy. Cost us 4 or 5 goals. Was an issue last year too.

Should we really put the sprinklers on at Gosh and Casey for training?  Serious question.

Glad we locked up Sparrow for another 2 years. Don't know where we would have been tonight without those 13 touches.

He was one of the major disappointments tonight after a great practice match the week before.

Your opinion of him was vindicated tonight.

Did he have one clean possession?

Goodwin picked Schache over Grundy in a do-or-die semi final, but then never played him, instead stuck with Tom McDonald, who is still on the MCG right now completing a 180 degree turn some 6 months after the game ended.

AND THEN he traded Grundy, before picking Schache to play *against* Grundy as the backup to Gawn, the role Grundy was originally recruited to Melbourne for. Only for Grundy to smack them both.

You couldn't come up with a more Melbourne storyline if you tried. 2021 is such a pipedream. Only Melbourne could [censored] up having two AA ruckman

i still think picking Schache over Grundy may have cost us going further in the finals last year, possibly the grand final. Grundy did tonight what he did in a few games for us when max went forward. unfortunately max could not kick the goals so we dumped Grundy. Tonight he showed that we are extremely vulnerable with Max and other teams will learn from that and will do likewise, they will get in front of him, stick their knee into his back and side, whacking around the head every chance they get. Max is not a physical ruckman who will jump into the opposition player, he tries to stand there any use his reach, even the swans second string ruckman beat him many times tonight. he needs to adjust his game plan so do our players in the centre can cover the opposition winning the tapout. very disappointing performance on so many levels.

Goodwin continues to be the worst match day coach in the league. To say he’s even reactive is overselling it.

He absolutely has to go. If people want to drink his bath water from ‘21; fine. But he had a Ferrari and he’s continued to treat it like a lawnmower.

The selection committee isn’t far off either. There’s absolutely no transparency or authenticity of selection. To bring Spargo in after his off season was a joke, not to mention the decision to play Laurie, Chandler and Spargo in the one side.

Yes our forward structures are still bad. But the fact is that it's our mids who make it so difficult for them.

We rush it in when we should take time, we are too slow to move it when we should be quick . Our mids lack composure and skills. Clarry, Viney,Track, Gawn, sparrow who do you trust out of those to make a good decision and hit a target. Contested beasts who get it forward through sheer strength and will but not players who help forwards.

Look at that mcvee play to fritta a composed player with skills, we want improve until we have players with those attributes delivering it to the forward line.

Mcvee, Salem, Windsor, rivers, Bowey have the ability but ones a rookie and the rest we pay back the majority of the time.

Something's got to change

Oh no the media

To be fair I'm giving them their props tonight Layzie.

We deserve to be fried for that lack of effort.

I was hoping for so much better than the tripe we served up tonight.

It would be fair to drop about ten players from that list tonight.

To start with Laurie. Spargo. Chandler. Schache.

So many players have lost form.... Lever, Rivers, Langdon, Nibbler.

I hope Bowey is ok. Can't afford to lose him.

Ironically Grundy smashed Max.

I know he's captain. He's better off leading my example than talking.

The biggest concern for me is our backs have been against the wall with the media on us and losing Gus.

That was our response.

I think there is significant reason to be concerned.

Kozzie needs an anger management course. Doesn't matter how good he is if he can't play.

Goody was so slow to sub Laurie off who he shouldn't have selected in the first place.

We have time now to reset but I don't see how we can fix our forward line. That should have been done three years ago but we must keep learning first.

Another champion game from Jack.

Nice purple patch from Fritta.

Oliver not ready.

Gawny being interviewed on 7 now. Said it was like playing in Darwin, very hot and we were very fumbly, said Grundy was good and took the points.

Happy with the 1st gamers and can't wait to get kozzie and petty back.

I know it was greasy & slippery, but our ball handling looked like Tallygaroopna v Manangatang reserves in mid winter.

Nothing has changed in 2 seasons plus a pre-season now.  We are terrible in wet or greasy conditions and have no idea how to play a wet weather style game in these conditions.

Also the Sydney ground if shorter than most.  Don't play the wings too often.  Keep going through the corridor or close to it as often as possible and go as long as you can once you're roughly a kick or so out from kicking it to the 40 or further.

Playing wide at Sydney for serious minutes is a death trap.  The extra width means you are taking the long way around, bogging yourself down and allowing the oppo to get back and set up nicely in defence.

SG would not have witnessed any of these strategic problems as he coached from the bench all night.  Were these issues passed on to him at half time from the brains trust in the box?  Didn't appear so.

My biggest concern going into this season was the psychology of this group and my concern didn’t diminish after that.

It really is hard to believe after having such forward disconnect last year that after having months to work on it it’s still a massive issue. It’s also hard to believe Stafford is still our forward coach.

A few players can hold their heads up after that and a couple of them were first gamers. Overall that was putrid and just bloody hard to watch.

Honestly that was just a really poor effort. No excuses.

I can handle a loss but it would've been nice to actually try something new for a change. We have the exact same problems that we had last year. Blind bombing into the forwardline, inaccuracy in front of goal, and predictable ball movement.

It's too early to give up on us but jesus that performance didn't inspire confidence.

Swans smashed us round the ball with a team nominally missing the 3 of there best midfielders and swans are a below average team in the regard even if they had a full complement. Don’t delude yourself and think this will get any easier

@picket fence u have been going on about how good Schache has been.

How do u think he went tonight??

Personally he needs to be dropped along with Laurie and Spargo.

Not good enough unfortunately.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
