Windsor's speed, balance and coordination makes you think we have something special here. He moves like Josh Kelly, Whitfield and Rozee. Hopefully he can get strong enough to play inside the centre square one day.

He's got a good frame.
He'll be in there.

I hope that you are right picket, it appears that we have picked up a couple of A graders in The Duke and The Kolt. Caleb  has really stepped up big time and deserves an early call up. He really looks something special.

Most exciting first year player, according to training vision, since Clayton.

Blake Howes is another who looks good. Throw in JVR, Judd and potentially Kolt and we have a gun baby Demon group coming through. Anything can happen.

Excellent signs are these not? I have some relaxing confidence in the team design across this year and further into the future with developing young players like these. Powerhouse stuff - now for the coaching team to maximise their ascension. That would be the only hesitancy one could hold, sadly.

That's unlike you to talk like that, Jack

It takes a good level of courage just to cross the white line

Stan features quite a bit in the clip below playing as first rover

And if Caleb ends up as good as Stan, we've got quite the player.  Stan won 2 B&F's and ran 2nd in the Brownlow on one occasion

And captained the club for 4 years.  He was quite a decorated footballer

Coll vs Melb 1968 Victoria Park

Great bit of footage, Macca. Thanks so much for putting it up on DL. Wonderful memories, Demon players, heritage thoughts invoked. Was there, that day - a game that I had forgotten, over the years. l think I got a smack over the head from a Filth fan during the last quarter, as fading memories recall.

If he's ready to go early, then that would be great, but I am happy waiting until the coaches decide that the time's right.
One thing that we have done particularly well over the last few years is blood the kids properly rather than have to rush them in as saviours before they're ready.
Having said that, from the limited vision I've seen, the kid reminds me of a young Lenny Hayes.

Yessss. One has to wonder though, with the likes of Parke and Hardeman up forward why we had such a long drought.

Back to Caleb Windsor, I know that it’s only hilights of an intra club hit out but, he looks very exciting. He appears to be exactly what we have been lacking for a long time. An outside, quick, pure skilled link player who can also hit the scoreboard.

I am as excited as I have been about a draftee for a long time!

Agree though Oliver and Pickett are hard to beat.

Duke is far better and goes so well with “Kolt”!

Kolt and Knot could be a bit too confusing …. and for many especially in the last decade or so when wearing a tie has become less common some may wonder what is the significance of Windsor and knot.

Agree Mono anyone under 50 wouldn’t identify Windsor knot for a tie, hell half of them wouldn’t know how to knot a tie. Lol.!!

Memory is fading but I know I was at Vic Park in '76 but probably a couple of times in the early 70's

It was great seeing Big Max Walker but he was up against a good player in Thommo

A number of Demon premiership players though and you could still see the Smith influence with the attack on the ball and the ability to get to the front position (Beckwith had taken over in '68)

As for the Duke (Windsor), he's got big wraps on him and we know how good Jason Taylor is in identifying talent.  Both he & the Kolt will debut early you'd imagine as there is often a flow-on effect when so many players are injured in one part of the ground (in our case, the forward line)

With Caleb, I like his first 2 or 3 steps and with the Kolt, it's his awareness and head over the ball

Both could be rippers!

He is also blessed with the gift of identifying said talent very quickly indeed.

I believe his nickname among the recruiting fraternity is Taylor Swift.

I reckon Jason Taylor has moved on from his Presidents of the United States (Adams, Jefferson, Jackson, Van Buren) meme and has moved on to cheese. Because not only is there a frightening looking Windsor Red, but guess what the Danish Tholstrup company is most famous for?

Pretty sure it was Colby we were trying to trade up the draft for, too.

EDIT: Can confirm the is such a thing as Brown cheese.

Would recommend reading Between the Flags, Mono. It makes for insiteful reading regarding our woes over that period.

Stan wasn’t the bravest player to pull on a Dees jumper.

What the &*$^ does that mean? An all time great of the club in an era when bashing blokes behind the play was de rigueur. I saw half the games Stan played and do not recall him jibbing it once. Stan was tough - don't worry about that. Single-handedly ensured Norf won the premiership in '77. And for 90 minutes, looked like becoming a premiership coach until his bestie bested him.

Windsor will debut round 0 BOOKMARK IT

Hopefully he is ready and picked on merit

He will get his chance in the next couple of weeks to show what he can do against real opposition and not some glorified circle work at training - we all know there is a very big difference

I’m bullish on Caleb and have likened him to the great Robbie in the way he runs, side steps, handballs and even kicks - is he ready to contribute meaningfully early this season I have no idea yet - if he can it will be a big bonus

'Cos Parke would take 15 marks and kick 0.3 and two out on the full...

Rods Dillon was another with a vice-like grip when it came to marking ... but not a great kick for goal

Parke kicked 63 goals in 1972 but his kicking action wasn't great.  But just like Dillon, he could take a great grab

Either would be more than handy right now!!

JVR reminds me of Hardeman a bit but Gary played his best footy as a CHB.  I reckon that JVR can be quite a versatile player so if he spends the year as a CHF, we might see that versatility in terms of him bringing other players into the game

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
