Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

You mean Pickett ?

I was actually referring to all four 'smalls' for us last Friday Night - ANB: Spargo; Pickett and Melksham were less damaging collectively than Papley (in my humble opinion). I hope they all bounce back for the next three wins and lift a Premiership cup at the G

In all seriousness what would it take to get Grundy over the line?

Pickett is hit and miss. Needs more consistency

Pickett is just about the only Demon forward providing consistent effort to apply forward pressure. He is good at this job but has to apply it across a whole, large forward area in every game; he could be a sensational forward (and without doubt he could be if he had a willing teammate to assist in every one of these forward pressure acts, enabling his unique goal-scoring feats to shine as his experience and maturity as a player increases. Team football - team football - team football. At present, we are playing a forward line that is largely individual football.

We have to acknowledge this aptitude. We expect one player (Kozzie) to do it all with a dummy in his mouth, as he receives little support from the static team around him. Fair suck of the sav ... and the same goes for Spargo, who could be lethal, as well. Game plans need attention and team selection has been unresponsive-to-ordinary. There is limited innovation and a highly obvious lack of footy smarts across the forward line.

Theres a lot of recency bias in your post Tony. Its unbelievably hard for a small fwd to kick 40 goals in a season.

Elliot has never kicked 40 goals in a season His highest has been 35 (in 9 seasons)

Papley has kicked 40 goals in a season once (in 7 seasons)

Stengle has kicked 46 g this season. His highest previously has been 8 in a season (in 4 seasons)

Cyril kicked 40 goals in a season twice (in 11 seasons) and is considered one of the greatest ever

If Kozzie picket kicks 1 more goal this year he will have kicked 40 goals in a season twice.

Kozzie is a ripper. He is 21 yo.

Wow, that is pretty wild.

Treloar trade was:

Coll trade:  Treloar, 26, 33 and 42 and received:  14 and a future 2nd

so maybe 35(2nd rd) and a future first pick for Grundy 42, 47,48( all second rounders)

This is just based of current picks,  Melb have always been proactive in moving around future picks so they might try something there to move up the draft.

Coll are reportedly bringing in McStay (reported 650k a year) and Bobby Hill.  as well as interest in Mitchell and now want to keep De Goey and reports say they are offering him the contract they withdrew after his Bali incident.

This is good for us as it means they need Grundy's salary gone (whilst still paying 300k a year)

I'm still not sold on the Grundy/Gawn combo,  but goody and the coaching staff obviously see a strategy there for us to be this interested so i'll back them in.

I still don't understand this move or how he slots in. Hes a no.1 ruck, as is Max. And they both aren't forwards.

I get the vibe the club wants to play Max as a forward, as we've seen more recently, but it won't work IMO.

Depends how desperate Collingwood are to dump salary. They have a few trade targets and have increased their De Goey offer, so that should help.

The fact Grundy doesn't want to go anywhere else means they accept mfc's offer otherwise they can hang onto him and miss out on a bunch of players they have lined up to come in ... they are stuck again

I still can't get my head around this. If Collingwood are prepared to pay around $300k a year of Grundy's wage and pay McStay $650k they are basically swapping those 2 players for very little salary cap saving and similar draft pick swaps.

Grundy would eat McStay for breakfast as a footballer.

The only reason I can see, is Collingwood believe Grundy's injuries are chronic and/or they are being delusional about the draft pick they will get for him.

If Jackson goes, and Grundy is fit, I'd love to have the best 2 AFL ruckman at our club.

$650 is insane money for McStay. has never even kicked 30 goals in a season. Unless they want to play him back, but still...

We have never really gotten the best out of trades with Collingwood. I reckon only Henry Coles and Peter Moore really excelled at Dees, maybe Flash Gordon. We have had a lot of failures eg Fabulous Phil Carmen and recent trades all busts - Hertier Lamumba, Dawes and Ben Kennedy.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
