Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Bailey is a massive out for them. Second leading goal kicker this year and kicked 4 against us in that Giants Stadium game last year.

Special shout to Sam McClure on 3AW tonight who went with the selection bombshell “Ben Brown dropped”

Only to discover he got the wrong Brown.

I'm of the opinion that Gawn's omission might make our ruck set up less predictable. Previously opposition mids set up to read Max's tap. With Dogga's leap and subsequent ground follow up and Weid hopefully breaking 50/50, we might see a set up where our contested mids (Viney, Clarry, Tracc) create more pressure and turnovers.

Obviously I'd like Max in the team as 1st ruck, his tap work and efforts around the ground are truly outstanding. He's an out and out champion

Who knows, we might find this shift gives us the chance to see what life after Max will eventually be like. If Dogga rises to the occasion, Max might return as the KPF we've been desperately been looking for!

Now leave Bedford in there for the next month ffs.

Weideman was a given, but have zero faith he'll do much on the night.

For all the [censored] that May has caused I'm so bloody happy to see him back in the team.

Bailey is a huge out for them. He gives a point of difference and genuine X factor that some clubs don't have.

While there is a lot of talk with regard to the ruck structure and operation of the forward 50, I get the feeling that we are going into this match light on midfield rotations.

Jordon, Langdon and a rotation of either Brayshaw or Sparrow covers the wings with Langdon on the ground 99%+ of the time it is the onball brigade that looks light to me.

Petracca, Oliver and Viney are a given but cannot be there 100% of the time. Harmes, Sparrow and Brayshaw can rotate through there as can ANB but after that there is not a lot of midfield depth in this team.

Take into account that we have named an IC of two defenders and two small forwards. Bedford and Pickett can make an appearance in the middle or around the ball but they cannot spend a deal of time there during the match.

I see this as a tough one to win for the Dees.

I can't see your logic here. We've added a small for a tall. We'll be better off for midfield rotations.

The role of a witches hat ?

While understanding that Weid had to come in to help out in the ruck I can't see what benefit it will be if he plays mainly forward where he's failed to impress so many times. I would play Jackson more forward , just think he is more likely to get a goal or two and give us more in that area. Weid I would play more ruck, would force him to compete and get him into the game.

Like the changes just thought Sparrow is a tad lucky don’t know what Dunstan has to do to get a game

Improve his disposal. It has always been his problem. He gets plenty of it.

Weed to ruck in the forward line. Jacko to ruck in midfield and drop back behind the ball?

The important thing is we have someone this weekend that can take a contested mark around the ground. The talls of Collingwood, Freo and Swans have thrashed us in recent weeks.

Just hope that Tomlinson is the sub.

Can fill in for a tall back (?or forward) or go to a wing releasing a smaller forward.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
