Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Farewell Luke Jackson

From The Age:

Melbourne is talking with the management of Rising Star winner and premiership big man Luke Jackson with the Demons categorically denying they have had any talks with Fremantle about the WA native.

Jackson is out of contract at the end of season 2022 and Melbourne wants him to extend his stay with the former Australian under-17 basketballer developing faster than many expected culminating in his ruck work in the grand final helping to turn the game to the Demons in the third term.

Demons list manager Tim Lamb shot down any suggestion they had talked with the Dockers about Jackson.

“At no time, has there ever been a conversation internally, or with Fremantle, about Luke Jackson,” Lamb told AFL trade radio.  “I can categorically say that has never occurred.  “He’s out of contract at the end of next season, we’re talking with his manager and happy with where it sits.”

He would be bonkers to leave now, if he really wanted to go home you would stay with us until he hits his prime in 5-6 years. Take the 1.5 mil from freo and head home with 3 premierships draped around his neck.

We need to cling to this bloke like stink on a monkey.

Maxy is a club legend and easily in the top ten players in our history. However, I'd give him 4 years max (see what I did there?).

Dogga, at the trajectory he is on, will be All Australian caliber himself by the time he walks into the first ruck spot.

Get this done!

He isn't going anywhere (no source just my take). He looks so happy and settled with the group. He just won a flag with more to come hopefully from a young group. He talked about working with Max (who he said was like a father figure) for many more seasons. He got an MFC premiership tattoo!!

What more do you need?

Is a 10 year deal too long?!?

No. But then I wanted to give Oliver a ten year deal last year too, so maybe I'm more reckless (or is that aggressive?) with my list management decisions.

there was some talk from an actual reliable source - it may even have been jake niall? - that his parents are actually looking to move to melbourne

It was actually Gary Lyon who told me this during an on air call to SEN

How many years for Dogga would you be happy with?

Sometimes young stars don’t progress as expected for different reasons. I’m thinking of Jesse Hogan, Jake Stringer, Joe Daniher who were all once 20 year old stars. Patrick Cripps is not elite anymore after being one of the competition’s best a few years back. There are more examples I’m sure.

That being said, I’m comfortable enough with Dogga being a generational talent that a three or four year extension (+1 already agreed to in 2022) would make an already perfect 2021, well… even more perfect.

The two year extension to end 2024 will be done. Won't come cheap.

Post 2024 who knows but the offers coming in especially from a post Natanui Eagles could be huge.

2024 will be the year our list managers really earn their money as we could be looking to replace Gawn, Ben Brown and May just to mention a few.

In the meantime 2 or 3 more flags would be nice

I think the Jackson re-signing is as important as Petraccas and Olivers. He is an absolute gun. However I don't believe everything I read in the opening post and I am willing to bet that Freo and maybe west coke have said something to melbourne.

Luke Jackson is a once in a Generation type player, never have i seen a Ruckman at such a young age or any age for that matter take a game away from a side in such a short space of time.

Just like in the NBA with the Chicago Bulls if you wanted a ring you had to come through Chicago the same applies with the AFL.

If you want a medallon your neck your gonna have to come through Melbourne to get one and you'll have to have one hell of a Ruck combination to beat our dynamic duo.

The club have to be reasonable but sensible at the same time, play this right and he could be one of the great of the Club and the game.

Statue outside of the G type player we have on our hands right next to his partner in crime Sir Maximus.

Just need to start a go fund me page and start him up a TInder profile (Melbourne girls only) and the rest should take care of itself.

Seriously though, no one with any choice in the matter is leaving the MFC in the next 5 years. it's going to be bloody exciting.

Must agree - the above article from 'The Age' is cloaked in speculative innuendo that raises hopes in non-MFC supporters and otherwise biased journalists/media that Jackson is unhappy, home-sick and ready to depart. The lad is having the time of his life at the MFC and has accepted that role and its attendant responsibilities with absolute class and determination - as a family member of a great bunch of blokes and extended Club identities. No way is he going to leave - such a move would contradict all that he has given, achieved and adapted to at a great rate of knots.

'Carna' Dees; onyer, Jacko!

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
