Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The two things that might save him is no damage (it seems) and he had no time to react/adjust to the north player coming in low. He can argue the arm wasn't high at all.

Unfortunately, i think he gets a week because they will say it looked bad so expect, high and careless.

Argument has to be that is my broken hand arm and I can’t fend off with hand as it could be further damaged, so used forearm to shoulder but he ducked and caused the head contact. No concussion. Played the game out. Hopefully that is a fine but as Jaded said he is a MFC player and I expect a week.

If Hawkins doesn't get suspended for swinging an elbow and accidentally fracturing Mays eye socket, Fritsch shouldn't get suspended for raising an elbow and having Powell run and stumble straight into it. Having said that, the AFL tribunal is so inconsistent these days it's hard to predict what the verdict might be.

It was accidental just like that dork from Geelong.

The oppo player was already trying to tackle Fritta low and fended off and accidentally got him high.

He is a dees player and will get a week.

Careless, high contact. 2 weeks

And if course Hawkins wasn’t careless high contact AND high outcome

If Fritta gets a week or two then the afl is corrupt. There was nothing deliberate in it and no concussion.

Why do you say that it is conditional on this incident?

Hawkins  = Geelong superstar and gets off

Fritsch = Melbourne player one week for sure.

And nothing will get done about Zeibel decking Fritsch behind play.

Great game by Fritta today btw. He's really straightened up his kicking.

Not even worth citing. He took the ball and in less than half a second attempted to fend off a tackler who came in at waist height. If anything he should be commended for not taking the guys head off. Fantastic technique from Fritsch not to let his arm raise any higher.

If he gets suspended then it’s basically confirmation that contact is no longer allowed. A player is allowed to defend himself when about to be crunched, and Fritsch should be commended for minimizing the damage.

North player played out the match with no concussion also. Nothing to see here.

I think he gets a week unfortunately, head high contact and the guy had to be helped off the ground. It wasn’t deliberate, it was meant to be a fend off but unfortunately caught him with the elbow. Much like bumps I think if you choose to fend off and catch the player high then your in trouble. Might get a free pass with the player not being concussed, Powell coming low into the tackle, and Fritta having the ball, but I’d be planning for life without Fritta next week.

Just seen video from two angles. In 2nd angle view it  looks deliberate. He's gone.

No way  he'll get off with a fine.

High profile player  would be 50/50 chance.

MFC ...book two weeks in the snow.Fritsch is not  Hawkins.

Hardly ever ends in a good result with heads connecting with elbows.

Had no time to avoid so the benefit of doubt might look after him.

There is no way Fritsch gets rubbed out for the high contact. He had the ball and pushed off the players shoulder/head to change direction. It is a completely different action to a bump when you don't have the ball.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
