Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Goodwin and the club consciously got rid of him and it wasn’t just because he wanted to go home. Not going to happen.

Correct. The reasons he was traded by us, are the same reasons another trade by Freo is a possibility.

From the ABC site:

Quote

Mr Dobson applied for Hogan to be granted a spent conviction order, which would have meant the offence would not be recorded against him.

He said one of the reasons for the application was "problems looming in terms of Hogan's employment" and the prospect that he "might end up living out his life in a rugby state where he would never be known."

While I doubt the 'rugby state' reference indicates a likely new club for Hogan, I am puzzled why his conviction or not should be relevant to moving to NSW or QLD.    Reads like states can ban people from other states with convictions which is nonsense  Good luck going to the USA though.

So Colonwood would be a perfect destination then.

Gold!

"Mr Dobson (Hogan's lawyer) also said Hogan had been in lockdown for months and in that time had not been with a woman, prompting Magistrate Adam Hills-Wright to ask "he couldn't wait 13 extra days?""

Jesse Hogan back at the Dees for pick 62.
Unfortunately Jesse has ongoing mental and physical issues that require high maintenance with specialists required.
His body language and work ethic is priority number 1 to get him in the right mindset to compete.
We may already have seen the best of Jesse.  He would be another project !!

I'm probably in a minority here but if Brown were to choose someone else as his desired club I would be quite ok with us luring Jesse back to us, as long he didn't cost us a lot.

Say whatever you like about him but while he was in Melbourne and fit to play he performed to a high level most weeks. And really the biggest (most consistent) off-field distraction was always to do with when he would be going back to WA. If he came BACK to us surely that would put those questions questions to bed.

I've got zero doubts that he's got internal demons he's fighting, but is he actually better in WA? Seems like he's got worse looking from the outside in.

Needs a year out of football.

Has been in AFL since the age of 17....needs a break

Always amazed that long term injury players hang around the club. Perfect opportunity with mentoring support to develop as a person

Hindsight’s a beautiful thing but I think he should’ve stayed in WA until after he was 18. We could still draft him and perhaps assign him to a WAFL club for development while he might pop over to Melbourne every now and then for updates and the chance to meet other players and coaches. But I think plucking him out of his home state at such a young age wasn’t good for his development as a human.

Ahhh the joys of living in a social media “enhanced” world where players live inside a Fish bowl with the public scrutinising their every move...

Do you think Wayne Carey, Garry Abblet Snr and Swartz had no demons To deal with, and never indulged in their preferred coping mechanism.. or two?
But they did ok on the field, you could even argue it helped them...

Jesse kicked 50+ with reduced games in the last season we made finals... has issues, yes.

Would have him back in a heartbeat.

There is the problem, we all look from outside in and don't know what is really going on. Those looking from inside out, find him too difficult and disruptive to a team game and culture.

Never heard a word about him being a disruptive influence at all while he was with us. Liked to let his hair down now and again but jeez that hardly makes him disruptive. His body language was poor at times but you could say the same thing about Oliver. Clubs seem to want robots these days.

Fremantle have a poor record of managing players. Plus a new coach comes in this year with his own ideas. Tabernor comes good all of a sudden. He got injured last year and to me it looks like the club didn’t put proper support structure around him. Now all of a sudden we’re hearing how disruptive he is. Freo would be one of the last clubs in the AFL I would recommend a player move to.

Jesse will find a new home easily but I reckon the best place for him is the MFC.  HE was well liked here, produced good football and can fill a need. The only reason we traded him was because he wanted to head back to Perth and we needed the pick for May. And we thought TMac could play his position. Less said about that the better. My only concern would be the foot injury. He’s injured it a couple of times now so it’s a definite risk.

Subject to medical DD I would welcome him with open arms if he decided to come back.

Never happened.Hogan never kicked 50.

Why do people keep harping on about this? The most he ever kicked was 47 from 20 games. Career 90 games 170 goals @1.88

Ben Brown by comparison 130 games 230 goals @ 2.2

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
