Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

A strong finish made it a convincing win.

Some of the worst umpiring I have ever seen.

A real coming of age game from Jackson and a gutsy effort from a clearly unfit Max. Let's take the 4 points and see where can go from here.

PS the fox commentary was equally as bad as the umpiring

PPS Clayton Oliver FMD !!!!

One of your best posts BBO. Now back to the cask.

Clarry was brilliant tonight.

They have to stick with Weed and Jacko up forward as they will just get better and better as they get bigger and stronger.

I was very impressed with Jacko.

Oh well if nothing else we clawed back the entire percentage we lost last week.

Jackson our first rising  star nominee since O Mac?

surely not?

We left it to the last quarter against a bottom side but it was a knockout punch. However you see it  in the end it is a win with  a  good percentage and some good solid performances from our engine room.

Young  L Jackson he is our future and has star quality written all over him. S May is starting to repay us with some dominant football.

A win is a win and we move on to the next game with confidence.

Tomlinson back was fantastic. Clearly he hadn't played there much but hes a big body and can kick. His run was great as well. I'd love to see Goody persevere with him there. So much better than Oscar. And could play on tall or smalls

Should have rested him for this game.

Now he's playing injured on a 4 day break against Goldstein in a harder to win game.

This was one of those captain's calls that can backfire.

Nonsense. He sought good medical advice. It’s only his latissimus dorsi - the big muscle down your back that pulls your shoulder down. These injuries get better while you keep going and are nowhere near as debilitating as a rotator cuff injury or AC joint sprain or shoulder dislocation.

Clearly hampered him tonight. Now he faces the most in form ruck in the comp with it worse and off a short break. It's a tear too btw, not sure how that gets better by keeping going. Strange comment.

Medical advice was he should miss 2 games, Max made the call himself that he would play, otherwise known as a captain's call.

Let's hope it doesn't backfire.

I don't know what to make of this game.  We all said it had to be an 8 goal win, which is exactly what we did.  But by God, did we stink it up for three quarters before we turned it on big time at the end.  However, what we can't overlook is the fact that we beat up a very young side that hasn't won a game all season.  If this was a Richmond, then you would be fist pumping.  As it's Adelaide, it's more a sigh of relief.

Oliver, Viney and Trac all stood up for us when we needed it most.  In that last term when we would have been a bit nervous and the confidence still dodgy, they worked their backsides off to kill off the contest and get us over the line.  And a special mention to Gus for his second half - where has that been?  He was terrific and looked better than he has all season.

But if those mids won it, then it was our backline that kept us in it during the first three quarters.  May was fantastic and is showing exactly why we wanted to get him to the club.  He made Walker look like a joke, he spoiled and took contested marks and backed up all the boys with some real aggression.  Keeping them to five goals, and 1 in the second half, is a great effort even though it was against the bottom side.  You still have to do it.

We still have problems.  Skills and decision making is a worry, as always, and we still have a few passengers.  ANB and AVB gave us little, while outside of a class goal, Bennell couldn't get near it.  We got smashed around the clearances in the first half and we are lucky we had our backline to save us.

Umpiring was the worst I've ever seen, too.  Just atrocious.

But you know what?  We are 4-5, which is almost hard to believe.  Win this weekend and we are 5-5 with a game in hand, which is almost incredible.

Enjoy the win and lets smash the Kangas on Sunday!

P.S - Plus we need to persist with Weid and Jackson.  Five goals, plenty of contests and some class from Jacko as well.  They make a good combo!

An 8 goal win is par. Not unhappy but not doing cartwheels. This game was enjoyable to watch especially the last quarter and especially seeing some key players stand up. But it doesn't mean anything much other than a regulation 4 points. Bank another regulation 4 points on Sunday with another 8 goal win and then I want to see how they go in the month after that. That will show where this team is at.

Been around too long see the rubbish we displayed tonite. We were dreadful. Kicking skills not there at all. Too many bog ordinary players like Tomlinson, Jones, AVB etc.

Adelaide had cooked themselves by 3/4 time so to get exited about a training run in the last is to put it mildly a false premise.

Play like that next week and we will get done by 5 goals or more.

Well done, Clarry, great to see you hold on to the ball longer, accelerate out of packs and look forward and beyond with your disposal. Good signs from Gus who decided to pull his finger out. Viney and Trak continuing their excellent seasons. Max brave. Jacko and Weid exciting and mobile, let’s stick with two talls up forward. May and Lever playing better together. But all means nothing if we don’t beat North.

Couldn't agree more.  Always great to watch us win a game of footy, and we don't often knock sides off by over 8 goals, but we knocked off one of the worst sides the comp has seen in some time, and that includes the early Gold Coast sides.

What this win will do is give us some confidence going forward.  Knock off the Roos and that might mean a little more.  As someone said earlier, the Pies after that will be the real test.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
