Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

ok fair enough. I'll put it all on the table.

strengths: -1 on 1 marking (although not as good as a few seasons ago)

- aerobic capacity allows him to play multiple positions.

- goal kicking prowess: potential to kick 60 goals a season.

weaknesses

- defensive pressure.

-on field attitude

- goal kicking accuracy

- performances against top teams.

i weigh all of these up and believe that nothing is more important than attitude. And that trumps all talent, especially when building a winning culture.

On field attitude? duh [censored].

Goal kicking accuracy? fixable and still one of the better kicks in the league

performances against top teams? better teams and better defences double teaming a 23 year old forward hmmm

The Australian.

"A bombshell is about to hit the lead-up to the AFL trade period with star Melbourne forward Jesse Hogan set to play with Fremantle next year if the Dockers are successful in their multimillion-dollar bid to lure the West Australian home."

Writing "bombshell" and that he is "set to play" at Fremantle is designed purely to be quoted on Twitter and forums and social media, but what he's actually saying is "Fremantle are interested in Hogan". Wow. Breaking news there.

Complete click-bait rubbish, which is classic Greg Denham (a pathetic attempt at a journalist, IMO. Genuinely cannot stand the man).

If May is involved. The only way I see this trade happening is.

GC -

Out: May and 1st round pick

In: Neale and possibly Freo 2nd rounder

MFC

Out: Hogan

In: May and GC 1st round pick

Freo

Out: Neale and 2nd round pick.

In: Hogan

I wouldn't be mad at that whatsoever. We aren't that much better off as a team with Hogan in. And he has some annoying traits that I would've expected to see him get on top of (stupid run up for set shots, whinging to umpires etc).

May on the other hand will make us better immediately and may be a key for our shot at the flag next year. Fascinating stuff.

I think an important thing to know that many people don't, is that Hogan and Fyfe are super close mates.

Not that instagram=friendship, but they don't even follow each other on instagram...

and it is just as important to note that hogan and brayshaw, hogan and oliver, hogan and etc., are super close mates. I am not sure if a friendship with Nat Fyfe will ultimately determine whether or not Jesse will be heading to Freo or not.

I would take May for Hogan. Our backline would be soooo much stronger with May and Lever in it. Weid holds his spot up forward with McDonald.

I have said it before and I will say it again.

HOGAN IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE.

Some facts:

  • The FD does not want to trade him even for overs
  • JH does not want to leave
  • JH is a required MFC player
  • JH is contracted

Every year we have this conversation, its getting boring.

If last weeks loss to the Eagles only taught us one thing, it was how much we need Hogan.

The Drums are certainly beating.

It will happen if the deal is good enough.

May for Hogan is laughable by the way. Key Forwards are worth 2 low first rounders (top 6) or their equivalent. May and a low first rounder is doable if the list committee think we need May.

Personally I'd prefer a strong outside mid.

So would I, I may be in the minority but I'm a massive fan of Steven May.

Lot of the knocks on him are his aggression:  getting suspended and giving away a lot of free kicks, but by god who wouldn't have anger problems playing for Gold Coast.

I think we are better side with May instead of Hogan when taking into account relative KPF and KPD stocks.

Trading is simple, if your club will benefit from the trade you need to have a serious look at it.  I'm not for trading Hogan, key forwards are pretty rare but if Fremantle are silly enough to offer two picks inside the top 10 for him and he is willing to go it needs to be considered if you have a May lined up with the deal and a spare first round pick that could be offered to GWS for a Whitfield/Kelly.  Adding May and one of those two GWS players this deal would be done in a heartbeat

Why?

I'm not so certain that Brayshaw is what we need by the way...

But, back to your point. Hogan is worth a lot to Freo and to us.

If we're going to give him up we will need substantial compensation.

The issue with this is that GC will be thinking the same thing for May.

Im not sure 1 pick will get it done

I would be playing Hogan off Half Back in 2019. I don’t think we have seen the best of Jesse yet. Not by a long shot.

Personally i don’t think his kicking is good enough to be a key forward.

But i certainly wouldn’t be trading him for pick 6

No he wouldn’t have, he would have moved up the ground into the midfield or wings and probably down back to help stem the flow. As he did numerous times this season.

The only drums beating I think are in people’s heads. I just can’t see it happening but who the hell knows. If it does I think it would be a big loss (depending on the return) and think he is a valuable asset to keep long term.

Hogan can play up the ground.  That is half the point, the other half is the need for multi key forwards to win finals.  I know thr Tigers won a GF with just 1 Key Forward but look through all the Premiership teams and they mostly have 2 plus a floater.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
