A Time to vent about this Club!

As a deep down passionate member/supporter this club is wearing myself out.

im sure many of you have seen many more years of false dawns and poor culture at the MFC, which hasn't have been fun, but it's become harder and harder to go/watch football. Sometimes I just want to cry as to why we have stunk so bad over the Last decade and continue to honestly do so. Not too mention the last 53 years.

I just can't see the MFC ever being a hard team to play against at all, I feel way overloaded with losing and failure. How hard is it to create a strong culture the only demands success??? It can't be rocket science???

May sound over the top, but if the MFC continue to do what it is currently doing and never properly thrive I wish they would just close there doors I'll hand my memberships back and walk away from the AFL. Just so I can get on with life and not have the weekends ruined by trash.

Rant over.... I will peace out

Ohhhh, the happy clappers will be out in force to gnaw on your bones shortly.

We are definitely improving. No 2 ways about it.

We have some fantastic young talent on our list.

However. We have a supporter base that is far too accepting of mediocre performances, and a "culture" that seems ok with packing up and heading for the showers at the tail end of the season.

We did it last year, and so many said it was youth at fault. Just wait till we are older.

Another year, and we look like capitulating, just like we did last year. Sickening.

But.

West Coast in Perth

Crows in Adelaide.

Garbage sides dont do both of those in the same year.

Not sure where I'm headed with this. I guess I'm confused as to where we are headed. The last 3 weeks will tell if we are a serious side, or whether there are real mental problems with our list.

I think we can still make finals. Not giving up just yet.

You're very brave after the early in the season "Letter to Goodwin" poster quickly looked like a goose .

A full week break (for a change) and back to the G  for the last three there's still  hope for a final .

It's painful, BUT our best players are kids. We can scare the crap out of other teams when we bring our best. We've been in almost every game, and it's just been a q here or there that hurt us.

The bad is behind us. These are the teenage years. Sometimes a teenager will say something really profound and you will think 'wow! how did you come up with that?', a week later they will do something so dumb you will wonder if they are retarded. That is where we are now.

I hear ya  deefella. Got home from golf Saturday arvo, missed the start and our 3 goals, all I saw was   oranges ? running amok for the rest of the qrt, that was enough for me, just so fffffing predictable crap ?. Years, decades of spineless efforts with the ODD showing of a footy team just too keep me interested, FMD I'm a tragic for punishment I figure, just like any of you who follow this team. I'm hanging in even afta they scatter me cause I will be in hell with my DEMONS forever.

Luckily it's only a game!

The thing is, we're not as bad as people are thinking right now.  Yes, I constantly criticise the forward movement and [censored]-poor offensive structures, but a month ago they were talking about us as genuine top 4 contenders and we had the second best form-line in the league behind the Swans.  We're not there yet, but in terms of the gameplan the only thing we need to fix is that abysmal ball movement into our 50.

We should win two out of the next three, and if we do that we'll play finals for the first time in a decade.  We'll bomb out in the first round, but that's still a huge improvement.  Maybe Goodwin will spend the summer drilling the team on how to score and we'll come out next year kicking bags and not conceding length-of-the-ground rebound goals.

Just really tired of hearing:" young side in the comp, exciting times ahead, remain positive, impressive wins etc ect blah blah blah. Yawn.

At the end of the day it means nothing if you can't do it consistently.

The point is the MFC make it look like a marathon and harder than what it should be. Other sides get there a lot quicker...... not to mention our snails pace memberships.

ill do my best to barrack and go to games but if the club shut up shop the safest part is I would be at peace with it and probs not too disappointed.

If you just shut up shop and barracked for someone else I'd be at peace with it too.

Grow a set fella.

We are in a better position than in 1987 and the ride isnt over.

i'm tired of hearing 'kick us out of the comp and i can get on with my life' crap from so-called supporters; my mum is guilty of it too, and i think it's just such a shocking lack of support for the club yr supposed to be a member of

yep, we're inconsistent from game to game, quarter to quarter - welcome to modern football! no club since essendon in 2000 has been a powerhouse in one season, and they only got one premiership

all 18 clubs are super-even now, with the possible exception of gw$ being a monster as a result of the concessions they were given upon entering the competition - you'll win some, you'll lose some

we are demonstrably better than we were at the start of this rebuild, just four short years ago

we [censored] away two rebuilds in a row by dint of mistakes (toumpas, morton at the pointy ends of a drafts, strauss, blease etc.) and bad luck ($cully walking out, clark's foot / mental issues, jurrah) and it's only since roos and pj took over the stewardship of the club that we've looked like the sort of professional outfit that the likes of hawthorn have been for my entire life time

get some backbone and deal with the difficulties - never, ever wish your club out of existence

Blame me.

I turncoated to melbourne in 1964 as an 11 yo from peer pressure at school after being brought up in a carlton family.

Since then I have lost my son to having no interest in football at all because he didn't want to come with me when he was little and watch us lose all the time, and now my 10 yo grandson has advised me he wants to barrack for freaking RICHMOND.

I was almost done after the North loss down in Tassie, that stung more than anything this year.

You choose to overcome it in any way possible, kick the dog, smash the TV, drop the F bomb as loud and as many times as possible making sure the whole street hears you. You avoid football for the rest of the weekend and feel that all hope is lost and you just want to give up.

Then Monday pops along and you start your weekly tasks albeit with a heavy heart, as Thursday approaches all is almost forgotten, you see the inclusions and we charter off to a new challenge, we discuss our club again and what the weekend will dish up this time.

Come Sunday it starts all over again, you cover yourself in red and blue attire from top to bottom. You take your seat and watch the pre game warm-ups, chat with the fella sitting next to you on what the day will bring.

When the 22 run out, you become a kid again, you cheer and scream to get your club over the line, what ever it takes!

We are Red and Blue,

This is what we do!!!

Well on the bright side, if we were winning easily every week, playing finals and winning flags, all you'd have to look forward to would be our inevitable fall from grace.

I think MFC has had one of the most prolonged adolescence on record.

No we're not. We were coming home with a wet sail WINNING games.. That season only required 12 games in the end to make the finals. This year it looms as 13.

The ride isnt over...thats for sure. Its just not heading to the G . Reality 101  ol Biff

Can we instigate a rule where at the start of the season everyone has to give an honest appraisal of where they think the club will finish, and how many games we'll win? Then that stat can sit at the bottom of every post - like a signature.

This year at the start of the season I'd predict us to finish 7-10th and win 12 games. I reckon 80% of genuine supporters would probably be in that range.

That way every week when a third of the site has an absolute dummy spit because we lost a game we can all be reminded that they actually predicted where we'd be. It might stop this constant barrage of 'my life has been impossibly difficult because Micheal Hibberd missed a shot against North Melbourne and it's been happening since 1964, and we are cursed, and Cameron Schwab, and Scully, and....'

I call it my 'Put your money where your mouth is, and leave there' plan.

Okay we can still make the finals so maybe this thread should wait until it is official. I don't think we can make it but in reality it is still possible.

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th
