We have excuses, but we've been absolutely found out tonight by Sydney. This is a very even season, so we can't afford to get blown away here. Our percentage just can't take it. Goodwin needs to lock them down.

Wagner has been a great replacement for Salem. Apart from missing every single kick Salem would've hit.

Melksham will never play in a winning final. Should never be picked for a final either.

Positives: Viney.

What did Bugg do and how many weeks is he out for?

Punched mills in the face, will get 5 minimum but probably more, he's out of the game with a very swollen eye

We will win this.

Getting murdered at the contest - I can't see that being allowed to continue to happen. Goodwin knows how to reset the side at half time. Despite the fact that we've hardly had the ball, they haven't buried us.

Easily the worst we've played this year.

This lead is nothing though. I remember we played a completely different game after half time against Essendon this year, so hoping for a repeat of that.

let's face it

our bottom four have never been any good

take out five of our top ten and play a team that is on a roll .... it will not be pretty

Let's hope the percentage doesn't take too big a hit and we can move onto Carlton who will see us a wounded animal

We are paying the price of not picking a Kent or Kennedy.

White and Wagner are just spuds.

Argh..

And Jake Melksham can spend the rest of the year in the VFL and learn how to get a clean ball.

What a disgrace.

I hope he never plays for Melbourne again.

It was a disgrace. Only slight thing in Bugg's favour was Mills slight drop of the knee.

Edit: scrap that^ looks like he was already in that stance when Bugg threw the punch. Just absolutely moronic.

They need to get the best players back in their natural positions. T-Mac & Hunt back. And we're getting killed around the packs. They've tried to put Swans off by putting players in unexpected positions, but it's messed us up more than them.

I agree. Thank Christ the team does not give up as quick as the supporters.

White not up to it. Mids look up and no one is in the forward line.  Pathetic second quarter.  No pressure applied, swans just did what they wanted.  They had open space and free players.  Dees must lift big time.

Both Wagner and White have been pathetic. Missing tackles on players who literally stood still and kicking straight to the opposition.

Midfield getting slaughtered. Can't see us winning this one unless Goodwin pulls some magic. Should be 60-70 points down now so we're lucky we've still got a shot at this!

They are saying on the radio that Sam Frost may have done his hamstring.

If true Misson needs to be looked at. Has players dropping left right and centre to soft tissue injuries.

Can still see us winning from here. This stoppage discrepancy can't continue. But skills and decision making must improve. Feels like watching the melbourne of old a bit.

Never rated Wagner or Ehite and they are clearly not up to it. Probably good for a dozen turnovers between them so far.

I feel like we haven't even left second gear yet. We're competing, but not really. Sydney dominated but are only 3 goals up. We are in this. You lot are crazy negative.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
