Well go and be sick somewhere.

If I'm not fit to go to work (which is rarely, because I'm self employed)I don't go because I would rather my work mates get someone else in that can pull their weight rather than carry me,besides it's the the honourable  thing to do if my leg is broken and I have to limp up the ladder and slow the whole job down at my workmates $expense let alone would you as an employer pay someone who wants to sleep all day on the job.Get real,if he's  not up to it play him at Casey  till he gets his touch back if he ever does, and boo hoo if he doesn't,  and let a contributor  play. We can't  muck  around anymore this season, or we will end up 9th in Richmond's place

I'm still predicting we finish 11th.

The not pulling his weight stuff is garbage anyway. His marking is off at present and his second efforts are lacking, but he was involved heaps on the weekend. He's not hugely off the pace.

The answer to his form is to wait. Not to drop him, not to move him to full back, not to trade him to Fremantle, just wait. His confidence is down and he's been out a long time now. A moment will come soon where he will remind us all why he's such a good player. Just a trifle of patience required.

While there was some good signs, his kicking for goal will kill us in crunch situations. If anything it is getting worse. Despite his personal problems he has one serious big technical monkey to get off his back. He will be useless if he doesn't fix this up.

True but he's only young and lots of work could help fix this. But I for one wouldn't want us 2 points down and him to have the ball in his hands kicking at goal with the siren about to blow on GF day.

I'm predicting that he picks up from where he left off at last quarter last weekend and has a big one this week.

So it is ok to call posters dopes and cretins.

We have opinions and they vary, it does not make us better than others. To abuse posters tells us more about you than you would probably care to share.

I would be over the moon in this scenario.

I would prefer Watts or TMac myself but each to their own.

He's a pretty reliable kick from 35m or less and without much of an angle to work with.

It's once he gets further out or starts hugging the boundary line that he's fairly useless.

We have some pretty reliable shots for goal, Watts (elite), TMac, Jones, Pedersen, Lewis, Salem. JH is a long way behind these guys.

Who would have thought At the start of this season that TMac is the player we would want kicking a crunch goal. Weird season upon us

Lucky you don't have any involvement with the coaching staff...

Yes, I made a drunken silly post on holiday in Darwin last week. I also said I hope he kicks 6 today.

Some absolute rippers from jesse today. Finding form!

Hes an inch away from tearing a game apart, I am talking 15 marks and 8 goals.

It shall be glorious.

23 touches, 5 marks and 3 goals.  He was always going to take a few weeks to settle, and settle he has.  Great game from him today and our forward line looked lethal in that first half thanks to him.

Just curious if you were at the game?

I was and watched him closely off the ball. It's like your implying that I don't want him to play. I hope he comes out and kicks 6 goals next week. I was simply making an observation based on what I was watching.

How's he return coming along now? Lucky they didn't put him out for the year

I'd almost forgotten how good he is. A bit of expectations management on my part, probably. But he keeps his feet so well and even if he doesn't mark it, gets hands to the ball 90% of the time.

It is difficult to define 'footy IQ' but instinctively you can tell Hogan has it in spades. A couple of years ago when Jono Brown, Brereton and every other ex power forward we’re lining up to praise Jesse they were all saying that, as a 19 year old, he was doing things naturally that normally you don’t learn and master till you are in your mid 20’s.

When Jesse is on his body positioning (like Pettraccattack vid above) is sublime and he has the ability to know how things will unfold before anyone else. Aside from his marking I think we will know when he back to his absolute best when he is again pulling out some of those impossible lightning quick handballs to players running past. Bring it on

Spot on.

And it augurs very well for our next couple of months that he his hitting his straps. I love him out at chf. Gives him so much space and he can really use that super dangerous combination of strength and agillirt, not to.mention his tank. Look out

Was quietly cursing last week that Hoges doesn't move as fluidly as Tex Walker. This was very Tex-like in balance and motion.

I'm salivating at the prospect of Jesse hitting form and full confidence for our first final at the G come September.

Finals is where champions truely step up and are created, "h&a champions" is just hype.

Jesse won't be alone in looking to mint his reputation as a star when it counts. :)

Just when we thought Jesse's year could not get worse.  Life just doesn't seem fair sometimes.  Feel really sad for him.

If he comes back to play this year it will be a bonus but right now I would just like the lad to have a bit of normality in his life.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

From Doc Larkins:

Melbourne’s Hogan broke his left collarbone in a collision with Luke McDonald on Saturday during the costly loss to North Melbourne.

Western Bulldog Lin Jong returned after only a single week off last year but sports medico Peter Larkins says Hogan’s injury is more severe.

If the 10-8 Demons make finals it will be in six weeks time, which means he cannot endure any setbacks.

71a4b2abad1bb836c51f289ef0d45236?width=650Jesse Hogan nurses his broken collarbone on the bench.

Larkins said the injury displaced the collarbone and was worse than Jong’s fracture.

“Jesse had really nasty multiple breaks in the collarbone. Generally players have surgery to have the quickest possible return if it’s not badly out of position,’’ he told 3AW.

“Six weeks is the average time out, you have got to get your power and strength back.

“It was a pretty solid bump and it cracked straight through. So they will try to push the envelope to do better than six but it won’t be inside three or four weeks.

“Let’s put a minimum of four weeks on it and say any week after that he might be available.”

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
