Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Nothing more than a fringer. Don't mind them persisting though.

I think he'll be the type of fringe player who ends up playing a heap of games because if a forward, inside or outside mid gets injured he can do a bit of both + pinch hit down back as we've seen. Obviously that depends on drafting and injuries over the next few years, but if we're leaving out Harmes more often than not then I'll be excited about our depth.

Will be seriously surprised if OMac isn't dropped for next weeks game. Based on his performance today, he is in line for another thrashing against the likes of Lynch and Day. I'm a big defender of Oscar, but he needs to work on a lot of aspects of his game over the pre season. Casually jogging back to the goal square when he could've rushed the ball for a behind was inexcusable.

That took place right in front of me, looked to me like he was going at full speed, unfortunately he isn't too quick.

Anyone else concerned with Hunt's kicking technique? Doesn't look right...

Needs a bit of work, but helps him kick long when running flat out. Has improved. At this stage kicking it's his weak point, but he does enough defending and running with the ball that he stays in the team. He doesn't need to be the pinpoint kick from half back.  Hopefully they sort it out over preseason.

HOW ON EARTH DID WE LOSE THIS GAME?

Only Melbourne can dominate a game and still lose.

Watts and Vince posters were really costly.

The deliberate out of bounds decisions were a disgrace, Foote should never umpire a game again.

Gawn has to be All Australian ruckman he was brilliant again and been brilliant all year.

Good to see Tyson starting to find some form since I called him the Toump.

Not sold on Harmes and ANB Oliver should definitely be game a game ahead of them.

Not sold on Wagner either I think he's just warming up Melksham's spot for next year.

Dawes kicked 2 goals but he is still a spud. 1 Joe the goose and he also out marked a midget. What was he thinking when he kicked the ball out on the full, a man has to know his limitations. I've seen enough of Hulett to think he should be ahead of Dawes and the sooner Weideman develops the better.

A heart breaking loss but a heap more positives than negatives to come out of the game and I'm looking forward to see how we go for the next 5 weeks and especially next year. WE ARE ON THE UP.

That really hurt. Yet 3.5 hours on, I'm convinced the core of premiership team was on display today. I feel sorry for those who can't see it.

I hear you GV, but so much will depend on a bloke called Simon Goodwin.

IMO we lost this game because of poor skill and bad decisions, ours and the umpires.

The umpires bad decisions were obvious for all to see.

Ours, were an overuse of handball in wet conditions and electing to kick to players who were covered. For example, Vince who has marked 30 out and can kick the distance easily, passes to Kent, who not only has an opponent right next to him, but a much taller one in addition, just behind him. Of course WC get the ball and head downfield for a goal. I counted at least 5 passes to Kent in similar circumstances and each one was taken by a WC player. It was some of the dumbest football I have ever seen.

Our shocking kicking for goal was not only heart breaking, it was match losing.

We dominated the game having twice as many forward 50's and 100 more possessions. That is usually a very comfortable win.

To those on here, who think we have no spirit, I would say, take up watching another sport, because you clearly know very little about football.

The definition of spirit is not just winning a contest, it is the effort put in to try and win. We put in the effort today and beat that mob on their dunghill, everywhere but on the scoreboard, with the youngest and least experienced team in the AFL.

If you didn't see that, you weren't watching, or you just don't understand.

Now for the whingers, bring on your sh-t and attack me for those comments and in advance, I couldn't care less.

Go Dees, we are on the way to becoming a good side.

Another massive disappointment particularly when you look at the stats and domination at times. To quote Robbie McEwan on Le Tour, "Coulda, Shoulda,  Wooda" but we were still unable to take the points. So frustrating. The only positive to take is that we are getting so close when in previous years we would have been smashed.

For me, the defensive set up playing a sweeper back was (finally!) a huge positive.

Petracca really showed strength, power and vision today.

Maxy Gawn rules the air.

Our locking the ball in to our forward line was awesome

the way we cut angles to break the web was superb

on the negative side, our goal kicking was appalling.

our delivery into 50 was crap.

the turnovers directly,to,opposition players was so costly (TMac x 3!)

So, a lot to like, but I HATE losing.

I can't decide what I hate more. People who think we lacked spirit today, or the fact that the same people who completely wrote us off pre-game now complain about winning every stat, leading all day, and losing a game everyone agrees we should have won.

The latter I think. Hyopcritical pessimism is draining.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
