Well learnt a bit from this past weekend.

Some of you who know me ..or have paid attention  ( and fair enough...most dont )   would recall Im surrounded  in a familial way ( as well as many mates ) with Pie supporters. Though I use the word 'support'  in its flightiest manner here I feel.

Getting over a cold I sadly chose not to venture to the G on Monday..I watched it with a very good friend...a Pie. He was very  matter of fact as the game progressed.  Though his alcohol consumption increased with every goal against Collingwood .. Must confess I know that effect.

I have 5 Brothers in Law......all Filth   ( as are theladies but lets talk of the supposed men here )   Not one is actually a member...albeitly they do have all their won teeth so possibly arent that welcome.  One is an MCC member though.

One switched off a 3/4 time One didnt even watch..One was out of the country at time...( I take that as just couldnt bear it )    One actually PLAYED for Collingwood....didnt reply to texts. One lives in NSW  and I think quietly disowned them but hasnt told his siblings.

They as well as others will swell my wine supplies nicely as they pay up bets over the coming weeks.

I maybe only ONE amongst the rabble in this family.....but my read...One Dee is better than 5  Filth    but then we always knew this ;)

Not sure you told us anything new in that last line bb.

However any story about Pie supporters suffering is worth reading.

The way us and them are going in opposite directions this year your liver would be forever grateful to be only playing them twice a season.

We are sitting 8th for highest 'Home Game attendance' averages so far. Up 7 places from our 2015 average rank of 15th.

Of the Vic clubs we are presently ranked 5th. Last year we finished last.

Since last year we are up 10,000 per home game and have leap frogged the following Vic clubs ...

Roos, Saints, Dogs, Cats and the Blues!

Does that include our game in Alice Springs?

unless i've missed it, no-one has commented on the 2 soft deliberate oob's paid close to the boundary

thought they seemed more about the ump being influenced by the crowd and seeking some limelight. shocking decisions

The Bugg one was as deliberate as they come. He knew it, you could see the look on his face.

What was the other one? I think Oscar actually was called for holding the ball not deliberate. The umpire just missed the high contact where Oscar got a whack across the face, otherwise it would've been holding the ball.

The umpiring was strange. It started out with them paying absolutely nothing in the first quarter as the Pies threw the ball around and Melbourne players were infringed, then as the game went on they started paying more, particularly more holding the balls.

The did an ok job. I'd prefer them to miss a few than pay too many. But there were the usual bad calls. IMO Hogan should've got a repeat shot for goal after he was slung to the ground after he kicked.

All true M. , however me and my boy still needed the blanket across our legs like two old grandmas. Didn't stop us waving the flag 16 times!

Was reportable in my view.  Certainly should have been a second goal.

Made no sense to me, when i watched the replay it the umpure clearly said he paid "a dangerous tackle and advantage" even though it was clearly after he kicked it. I was under the impression that you cant pay advantage before the free kick occured.

Arrived home from the game with the rest of the family to realise that I hadn't recorded the game. Had to wait until 10:00am next morning for a replay, we were even better than I had remembered!!! I have read most of the posts but just feeling to happy to comment on any aspect of the game except to say - Go you mighty Demons!!!

When you factor in the fact that we've had home games including GWS, Brisbane, St Kilda at Etihad and Port in Alice Springs, that is a higher achievement.

The ANZAC and QBD games help, obviously. Let's hope next year we can add a Friday night home game, or maybe (heaven forbid) a home game against Essendon or Carlton!

just had my first look at those 2 incidents on replay (as distinct from at the ground - at distance)

thought the bugg one was a bit stiff but maybe he could have made it look better. didn't think it was deliberate just trying to keep ball away from opponent

the omac one, think you were right, paid for holding the ball not deliberate oob

They had 22 players on the field. Same as us. We were better than them. A win is a win. End of story. Enjoy the win FFS! We've been fielding undermanned sides for a decade.

Settle down chief. I did enjoy the win but let's not get too carried away, we had a full strength team vs their half strength team.

Pendles really doesn't look all that healthy, does he? Huge respect for him as a player, but he's really doing it tough atmo.

A win is a win is a win.You can only beat the team you play. We played a hugely undermannned Essendon and looked like fools.

That's where it ends though. You could perhaps mount a case for m jones heing best 22 but apart from those you've listed that's it.

Only Geoffrey Robertson could mount a case for MJones as best 22.

Hypothetically speaking .

It was a beautiful winter's day in Fed Square pre-match, standing in the sun.  At 5pm in the dark at the MCG, I was freezing my chops off.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
