Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

For anyone that watched the (albeit limited) games that Ablett played last year, he was still an unbelievably powerful player.

Great test for our midfielders in the first game because these 3 will destroy teams this season.

Not sure why, but I don't know if these three will line up in the middle together that much... I get a feeling that Danger and Ablett will alternative between midfield and forward (still pretty devastating if they do)

Also felt that the game was catching up a little with Selwood a little last year. He'll still be influential, but it's kinda similar feeling I have with Nathan Jones.

Finally it's not what they have in the midfield it's what they have around them.... thats where the list sharply drops away.

Not worried they have no back line, harry  is all alone in back there , I think danger is going to play mostly forward like he did in last year's finals, they have not addressed their forward line in off season, Motlop very important in their forward line. We killed them last year, if we kicked straight, in third term we led by 15 points which was how many more scoring shots we had, we missed at least 5 shots 30 meters out  directly in front of goal.

Motlop now at Port.......

Both Dangerfield and Selwood struggling to get to the starting line for round 1.

oh really? I thought there were doubts about Gary but haven't kept up to date on the other 2.

They are all match winners who can take the game by the scruff of the neck. They are at the level we hope our young players will get too and the type of player that we have missed for decades.

Viney struggling is a bit of a bummer, but if they are in doubt then it evens out a bit.

Still backing us in to win.

3 Votes: Max Gawn

2 Votes: Christian Petracca

1 Vote: Clayton Oliver.

I read the article  that has this pic and it states that Geelong's Round 1 opponent is Essendon. Is this for the pre-season games?

I do not buy into the hype around these three playing together and I hope that our Team does not either. There is only one ball in play at any one time and we will need to be putting pressure on the ball and the man with it at every contest, no matter who the opposition player is.

Let the Cats sit back and fall into the trap of thinking they have it won because these three are going to win it for them.

I am confident of a win first up.

When Danger and Selwood win it in the middle, they will shank it straight down lever's throat.

Very unlikely they will all be fit for round one. Veterans tend to not train much in preseason so our youth will get the jump on them

One thing is for certain, the words ‘Melbourne football club’ will not be mentioned by the media or commentators in the lead up to the match.

Not just the lead up. We are just a plot device for the media in this story.

Win, lose or draw. Eveything will be about Gary's return.

If we lose, it will just play out the way they want : fairytale return! How good is this team going to be? Will they go undefeated all year?

If we win : did we overestimate the cats? Did Geelong pay to much for an aging Ablett? Is Gary's shoulder ok? The Cats have no depth.

There will be nothing about us.

"Selwood, Danger and Ablett will all take the field against that team that wears red."

Geelong are going to want to pull something big this year and win a flag, because these 3 are one concussion away from retirement.

I don’t think that 3 players make a team. Geelong are severely lacking both down back and up forward and having lost Motlop they are also lacking some leg speed.

relax we've got this....

Viney, Petracca, Oliver, Salem, Lever...

Bernie knows how to tickle Danger..

it's just Geelong......chokersville

They have some stars....they dont have a full competetive lineup across the field.

ffs Its a new season. They were shown to be very human if you went at them full chops .

If I were them Id be more concerned about us, than we ought them.

They'll bleed profusely once we open them up....

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
