Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Trade Rumours 2023

This has already been floated weeks before and it keeps coming back to Collingwood have a deal with Grundy, not Melbourne.

Still a few days out from the Grand Final and journo's are running out of stories.

There's smoke... there's uncertainty... there's fire

How large is the question

Nice to see an actual rumour.

Anyone follow WCE enough to know what we are looking at?

either would be a genuine backup, casey unless gawn went down, even then when they had 27 fit players jamieson wasn't an emergency, so does he have scope to improve? BJ Williams is at least young enough where he could do a preuss and move on again in 2-3 years but honestly when you're as talented as he is and you're a sides no.1 ruck why would you leave, even if flynn comes in he's garaunteed a game at wce next year

Oliver? 3 firsts? What the heck ? - If True, A trade might be more of a mutual interest in that GWS might rate a few midfielders in the top 5 more than Cadman, are happy with Hogans form and would do it for pick 5 and 2nd or Future 1st at worst. So it's really Sanders vs Cadman. Is my guess anyway.

The Giants gave up 3, 12 and a future 2nd to get him.

There’s nothing to say he’s lost any value. VFL form was strong.

Hogan had a good year. But Ricciardi didn’t get near it against the Pies and Lachie Keeffe is Lachie Keeffe.

They have Richmond’s first rounder and some untested young talent, they aren’t swapping Cadman out for a midfielder.

It would take either a Tom Boyd situation or something else unexpected.

Williams wouldn't have to move again, as sad as it is to think about Max will be done in 2-3 years. We could also guarantee Williams at a minimum the same opportunity Grundy got playing 2 rucks and if he's able to contribute forward he would have a strong case to stay in the side.

I'd still be shocked because he just finished 6th in the B+F and was a rare good news story for them. But at the same time they're seemingly bringing Flynn in and they used pick #23 on Harry Barnett last year. They don't need 4 rucks on a rebuilding list.

They could move Jamieson on for nothing and free up a list space and maybe a few dollars. Or they can trade Bailey Williams at possibly the most trade value he's ever going to have and use a nice pick to bring in a good talent in one of the many more important positions they need than ruck depth.

In less.

Would complete our forward line, with Jefferson developing at Casey.

He's 24 years old, Just about to enter his peak, would improve out of sight at the Dees.

Naughton is the only logical choice in the right circumstances, 1 year remaining on his contract, Bulldogs are going through change, they need the picks and he doesn't seem to be on the same page as Bevo.

Ripe for the picking brains trust.

Without knowing the inner workingS my expectation would be that when a player changes clubs in this way, the contract agreement would be novated to the “new club”, and a “new contract” created between the “old club” and the player for the balance. Collingwood must be of the belief that the terms of the “additional contract” for the balance must include reference to the “new contract” with the “new club”, and if that agreement is to be terminated (by being novated again to a 3rd club) then the additional contract would also be terminated (or would maybe require their acceptance for a 3rd club to be included). Regardless, it appears that their strategising on this is being done by someone with a poorer understanding of contract law than even I have.

Melbourne had signed Grundy on the premise that $550-600k of his Salary would be paid over the next 5 years.

The Collingwood component of his contract would have stipilulated that $350k would be paid over a 5 year duration where ever that may be Club A or Club B.

This happens in the NBA and NFL yearly so whichever club that signs the initial deal (Collingwood) is liable to whatever percentage/figure is agree upon on the life of the contract.

Which will be 4 years at $350k starting when ever he signs during trade period.

MFC lawyers would be all over this.

Agree with this wholeheartedly.

Naughton is too good to say no too purely because of his set-shot kicking.

It's just as much about the opportunities he'd create in the air. And in the air, there is nobody better. He marks it when he shouldn't, he creates carnage when he shouldn't and he is rarely if ever out-marked.

Of all key forwards that we could pick, he'd suit us best. Another Ben Brown lead up target who relies on clean ball is not going to change us. Unless we drastically change our list.

Naughton would be huge but are these just rumours or is there something here?

I like it. It's bold purely because still contract but I'm also led to believe that he's not willing to extend contract any further at this stage.

I like the idea of recruiting Naughton to play a shared swingman role with Petty. Both aerial threats and could go either end depending on matchups. Wouldn’t mind Naughton being a bit more of an attacking tall back ala Darcy Moore.

I have a dogs supporting mate who constantly bemoans the fact they don’t at least try Naughton at CHB considering there deficiencies at that end.

What drugs are they smoking if they think we'd consider trading Petty or Sparrow for an average mature age player that doesn't even want to be on their list?

Unless they are trowing in a first round draft pick, but I honestly don't even think that goes close in the case of Petty.

Surely this is a joke and the jurno that wrote it is desperate for something to print.

I really am not bothered whether we get McAdam or not Maybe we should tell Adelaide exactly that

Cadman is very interesting. Giving GWS traded up to get him. I think from memory he was rated at 4th in the draft but they were very keen in getting a forward and were stacked with picks.
He is still a number one pick from last year and would cost us an arm and a leg.
Given we have picked key forwards with our first rounders for the last couple of years it’s a big investment in a lot of young talent in one area.

Bailey Williams should be a Priority for the Dees.

23yr and can play Ruck and Forward. Has his best football in front of him.

Williams, McAdam would be a great start. Fergus Greene or similar would be a good get to push for a Forward position.

I’m  disappointed to see Harmes go. I believe he is in our best 22 when playing his correct role. That is Defensive Mid who can win his own ball. I am of the opinion he is the type of player we need.
I can see Yze taking him to the Tigers…

Minimum 3 months, maximum, not usually more than 6.

The key here is to get a preseason into him. If he is not on the training track by Christmas then I believe he will struggle next year. He did it on Aug 6 so it's been only 2 months.

The only caveat to my celebratory mood regarding this is that Petty seems to have something of a history with doing this kind of ankle/lower leg injuries.

Hopefully it's just bad luck, but could also be some kind of predisposition due to either his physique or the way he naturally moves and changes direction.

If he can keep his body right, he's certainly turned into the type of key position player the MFC can build it's team around for the next 5+ years, either as a forward or a back.

Cadman I’m unsure about. He won’t come cheap and has yet to show if he will realise his potential?

On the espn footy podcast the champion data guy was talking about cadmans numbers around early august and saying they were woeful accross the board.

Compared him unfavourably to jvr, noting he is a year behind (was in the context of praising dees for how we managed jvr).

The worst player ratings to predicted average of any top 3 draft picks or some such.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
