Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The dilemma for the Cats is whether to keep their chip-and-possession game, rack up the wins at Kardinia, and get walloped in finals again.

Or change to a more bruising finals-ready style and have their senior citizens beaten up every week, then get walloped in the finals.

He’s a good coach but it will be interesting to see now what happens with the philosophy of not rebuilding through the draft. So far, they’ve been low key in trading, having given away a low key player and likely to lose Clark and Fort while possibly bringing in Ceglar and Stengle. Their first pick is currently 30. I can’t see them staying up near the top.

Surety the whole prelim finals record would be a signal to them that change is needed. Cats and media see this as a badge of honour. Sen callback yeyerday had plenty of calls about not renewing a membership etc. Unless change comes.

You're assuming they make finals.

The question is he a good coach or has had good cattle because of the recruiting of Stephen Wells and free agency players wanting to play finals.

In the 11 season to date he has coached Geelong to one premiership, the first after Thompson retired, with a team that lost the preliminary final to Collingwood the eventual premiers.

Has now coached the teams to multiple preliminary finals 2011 winner, 2013 lost, 2016 lost, 2017 lost, 2019 lost, 2020 won and 2021 lost, it seems like a great record but is it the players or the coach.

The Geelong team seems to be able to recruit good players in the twilght of their careers and then promise them they are a part of the premiership squad but fail to deliver 2020 they lost the qualifying final and had to get to grand final the hard way Richmond also did the same they were 15 points in front at half time but old legs become tired in the 2nd half of matches and lost by 31.

The game at Geelong this year 44 points in front 10 minutes into the 3rd quarter and lost by 4 points, the preliminary final Melbourne  kicks 8 goals in the 3rd quarter and win by 83 points.

He has not refreshed the side using youth mixed with experience but more old experience players disadvantaging players like Clark and Constable.

I realise they lost Parfitt before the Preliminary final but they were the oldest team in the finals and MFC was the youngest.

72% Wiinning record in H+A, 69% with Finals included, totally happy to take the mickey out of him when he’s losing it in the box, but they are extraordinary numbers. I am impressed he is sticking fat, as those numbers are going to take a hit. He does seem cursed like Tom Haley though with finals and they should have had at least 1 if not 2 more GF in the last 10 years. However Geelong is making a logical decision and not throwing baby out with the bath water. Just too bad for him his tenure is extended right when they became our female Labradors.

I also thought he was a dog of a player, Toby Greene standard, good but dirty, more so than Mitchell and Hodge, but I still respect his coaching, just don’t like the man, much like Hardwick.

The Cats are a long way off it now, there is little chance they can improve with a list of blokes who can hardly run out of a Bunnings let alone a full season. They could easily end up like the Pies in 2023.

With Mitchell out shopping his only decent experienced players and getting donuts, the only good thing about Hawthorn is they are not Geelong.

I was thinking the same thing. Mitchell might have made himself look like a naive, incompetent newbie and that will hurt them, but he at least has the right idea.

Signing Chris Scott for another three years is an endorsement of his top-up with senior players strategy. They’ve developed very, very little young talent as per rpfc’s post a month or so back. Once the team loses its competitiveness, it won’t be an attractive destination for those senior players. The fall will be accelerated as a result.

The cliff is coming. Scott doesn’t see out his three years, and Geelong are set back further by not having recognised the need for a strategy change earlier. It is going to be magnificent.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
