We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

He has been written off before and bounced back. His first half was dreadful but second there was some improvement.

That win will give the whole team a lift including TMac. I'm backing him in to regain his form v Brisbane

Radio commentators today pointed out that everyone seems to need a week or two after coming back from injury. Stick with him

I must have missed something with Smith because I thought he was very solid all game. Competed and spoiled well.

TMac's form is a worry.

Sparrow's field kicking is still a concern although I loved his tackling and pressure.

Tmac has shown in a few occasions that he needs a game or two to get back into it. Our whole forward line is a bit inconsistent as a whole but every week we have a small and tall do the job. It might be tmacs week next week, Fritsch the following, brown or Jackson. Same with Spargo ,anb and kossie.

No he literally shoved him in the throat region and nothing in it.  Not even worthy of a reversal.  Except as we all know, they're a special lot that receive special treatment down at the Cattery.

Who’s in danger

Tmcd. Looked injured or old or slow. His back mustn’t be 100%.  Dropped marks. Got pushed aside in marking contest. Dropped two simple chest marks.  Perhaps makes forward line too heavy.  But he’s loved by Goody and his teammates !!! (Likely to stay in)

Joel Smith.  Too loose. Depending on Lions match up.  Lions may have smaller forwards like McCarthy Cameron Bailey buzzing around. We will miss Hunt. (Likely stays in but Hibbo or Jordon are options).

Tom Sparrow. Competed strongly but his disposal let him down. Will be needed in the battle with Lions mids. He’s in my best 22.

So it’s a maybe “Smith out for Hibberd” but “likely to be no change”.

Jordon as medi-sub (wishing Jonesy medi-sub).

Does anyone know how far away Hunt is? I would like to see him back in the line up. Also I think Hibbo should come back in.

As good as Bowey is and will be I think he might get exploited defensively, so maybe Bowey and Smith go out for Hibbo and hopefully Hunt.

Bowey's 90% disposal efficiency gets the nod

As cruel as it might seem Tmac has lost form at the wrong time of year. 7 goals in his last 8 games and his mobility is not what it was in the first half of the year. I would not be surprised to see us revert to the Brown and Jackson set up and bring in another runner in Jordon or Melksham for a defensive job (preferably on Rich). I love Sparrows effort but his kicking is a worry and would prefer Jordon regardless, if he is right to go. Smith stays in in my opinion.

People were calling for Fritsch to be dropped mid game last week. One of our fwd line strengths is the fact we have numerous options. Ideally they all fire every week but we know that’s not the case, TMac should stay in for mine.

Tmac has been out for two weeks so he gets some slack.

Besides has been a been a big part of our success.

Did drop off in form prior to injury but i reckon he has to stay.

Hell get form back.

Only change I reckon will be for whomever we think is the best matchup for Cameron. Do we go with the taller and more athletic Smith, or the more experienced and crafty Hibberd? Thought Smith did ok on Rohan last night, was lucky to get 2 goals, but at the same time it wasn't as 'neat' as usual for us in aerial contests etc.

Gut feel is Smith stays in for first crack at Cameron, and then potentially May can go to him if he gets off the chain.

No change IMO.

There are only two players who are not permanently embedded in the 22 right now.
Sparrow and Smith (maybe Bowey if Hunt was fit).

Sparrow was good but his ball use is a worry. I still prefer JJ.
Smith has been ok but honestly I don’t think he’s been with the defence enough and it shows. He interferes with the play too much for mine.

With a relatively healthy list we have the luxury of picking horses for courses. Brisbane have a strong midfield. JJ for me is a good defensive mid but his attack is better than Sparrow hence I’m picking him.
Backline needs to be picked on matchups. I would play Petty on Daniher and May on Cameron. I’m not sure who Smith would play on but at the same time Brisbane will surely try to stack their forwardline with talls.
I am still picking Hibbo. Our ground ball work in defence isn’t great and I think Hibbo will help with that.

Edit: good news is May has never played two average games in the red and blue in a row and Fritta generally has a big game after a quiet one. Tmac needs to get back into it.

I like Hunt but I’m taking Bowey over him every day.

Seems I did to, how many goals did the cats get after halftime, second quarter was not the backlines fault anyone who has played the game will know if the ball is played in opposition forward line for a long period of time of course easy goals will end up being scored they adjusted that after half time, backline then was able to set up a lot easier as they only gave up two goals, Smith will stay in.

Sparrow was outstanding. His clutch marks.. wow

I think no change. Back the side in..

He really surprised me last night. His marking was a standout feature, while his effort and grunt are already proven. His kicking has penetration but is about 10 degrees off the mark when he kicks long.

Him or Jordon - either will work against the Lions.

Finals are a completely different thing than home and away. Melksham, Weideman and Hibberd are all proven to perform at the pointy end of the year.

I say Weideman for McDonald. Next year Smith could go to the forward line. He is a better forward than a back!

Please no Hibberd or Melksham. Smith has done enough and Bowey has been fantastic. Melksham is a serial non-contributor.

I would leave the side alone but have a qiuet word in Mr McDonalds and Fritters ear.

TMac has a quiet night, but on at least two occasions a team mate popped up and pinched a mark that TMac was going to take. Within range.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
