Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Melbourne: Ed Langdon

Langdon is really starting to get himself settled in Melbourne’s midfield after crossing over from Fremantle at the end of last year. The hard-running wingman is very adept at keeping his width and often gets used in transition. He has a great ability to run and carry the footy and deliver inside 50, which he did on six occasions against the Roos. Langdon had 23 disposals in total and 321m gained.

Already one of our best trades in ages.  Has pace and endurance, works up and down the ground really hard.

Agree    kept thinking he was Hunt   with the headband,  but  a very good trade.

A great pick-up by the recruiting team just love watching his endurance and ability to be in the right place time after time, quick thinker as well. Well done Ed.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think he's a recruit that, when compared to others who get plenty of column inches like a Butler or Jack Martin, he has well and truly slipped under the radar.

Now that we are working out how to use him best, he is having a real influence on our games.  He can run all day and is just as happy being that extra man in defence as he is being the last kick inside 50, some of which have been really good of late.

If we can nail down the opposite wing to go with him then we're in a really good position going forward.

The phrase "keeping his width" is competing with "connection" for buzzword (or phrase) of the year. It's come out of nowhere and I suspect is meaningless.

It's not.

He doesn't get sucked into the contest and helps stretch our opponents' defence both at stoppages and in general play by making sure he's wide enough to be useful without being too far away.

Langdon  is a  ball winner and runs all day the only problem with his game is his kicking skills . Needs to improve that side of his game to become an elite player for our club..

Ed has been a great pick up and has fitted in well and looks at home in a Demons jumper.

Ed’s not the best kick in the world, but something I have noticed is that he typically tries to steady him and give himself an extra half second before he does kick - need some of the others to take note

Just the outside run that we craved and he's quick!! Obviously he has a lot of work to do on his skill execution and decision making but hopefully that will come as he continues to develop and mature(only 24 years old and only played 70 odd games I think). Great pick up!

I’m certainly keeping my width with my COVID diet.

Think Ed has been awesome.. he run he spreads, it is exactly what we needed.. he has his issues with ball use, but so does Dangerfield.. so its all relative, we got him to run and provide an option outside to widen teh ground, he has done that and he is not a timid wingman either, he is tough and i think he has been a great pick up.

Yeah he's been really good for a second rounder and he hopefully can give us a further 6 solid years at the club. He gives us a bail out option out wide that we haven't really enjoyed in recent years.

I was really excited we targeted him last year and he hasn't disappointed.

He has a  case of the goal kicking yips (0.5) so would be keen to break the drought shortly.

He's basically become what I thought Hunt would become a few years back - a hard two-way running pacy wingman. They look similar too with the long hair, headband and long sleeves!

He's been a great pickup for a second rounder. He was an underrated player at Freo. He didn't have the resume or flash of Brad Hill, but performed every bit as well as him. 3-4 years younger and is having a much better season than Hill. We got this trade right for now and future IMO.

Before the season started I tipped him to finish top 5 in our BnF and I don't think he's far off.

The only issue I have with him, he does tend to fumble a bit, cost us against NTH this week when we were away and he had a player in front of him but he fumbled, needs to become a one grab player. Love his endurance

Agree, I'd expect Tomlinson to achieve this - with less dodging of opponents as he roams two-ways quite a distance - often by himself, and positioning for a 'receive' is rather good - the backs must look across that side too, to seize the advantages he offers. Should his disposal improve a little, we could have two feeding flanks for the forwards (and we know how well the forwards are currently progressing). Just takes a little time and some application. Reminds me of the ball movement that we had under Northey.

Quickly becoming one of my favourites. He's not the most skilled or hardest player, but his gut-running always helps out our mids and defenders. Loving his work and I reckon he's only going to get better. If I'm the opposition, I'm planning on ensuring someone runs with him. Moreso, if he can start putting some scoreboard pressure on like he did at Freo last year.

Yeah, he's got a waaaay bigger tank that Hunt and has gears that Hunt doesn't seem to have.

I still think that's Hunt's go on the other wing to be honest...

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
