The fact that he can go forward when required and if match ups allow, would be a huge bonus IMO. At the moment we just don't have enough talls in the side to even think about swinging one back or forward.

All I want to see are a few changes.  I'm a fan of the continuity aspect, but I think we are carrying a few and we need to give some others a crack.

We need an extra tall forward, and we need to freshen things up inside 50.

I'd be giving one of Weid/Brown/Jackson a crack, and I'd also look at Bennell and ANB to slot in there somewhere.  So, for me it would be:

In:  Weid/Brown/Jackson, Bennell, ANB

Out:  AVB, Hunt, Melksham

His main issue is consistency and I don't think it matters whether it's back or forward. I've said it a number of times we need 3 tall forwards, with one being a mobile lead up forward to provide and outlet or create space out the back. 

In: Weid, Brown, Bennell

Out: hunt, avb, Melksham

It would be a tough gig being an MFC selector specially as they have managed to get it wrong so many times. in the last few seasons I think we have lost the game on Thursday evening when the team is announced. This season we seem to be going to extremes to highlight just how bad we are at selecting a side.

One out tall forward with a game plan and skills that do not support such a structure. In no one's mind has this looked like working or even looked to have the potential to work. Part of this problem is the form of TMac and the other part of the problem is, as mentioned, the mythical game plan and lack of skill to deliver the ball properly into the forward 50.

The MFC really needs to get back to the basics in selection to have a proper base line to work from.

To my mind this means the following:

Three key defenders - May Lever and OMac

Three inside mids - Petracca. Oliver and Harmes

Three key Forwards - TMac, Weideman and Pickett

Ruck - Gawn

Fill in the spaces around these keys.

Backs: Lever, May, Jetta

Half Backs: Hibberd, OMac, Hunt

Center: Langdon, Oliver, Tomlinson

Half Forward: Jones, TMac, Fristch

Forwards: Pickett, Wiedeman, Melksham

Ruck: Gawn, Petracca, Harmes

Hunt and vdberg surely cannot stay in.  Weid and Bennell are surely replacements with Jones and Jetta possibles.  Melksham definitely on notice!!

Agree with all this except Hunt over Salem. Hunt has done nothing the last fortnight, far to irregular a performer for me and across half back he runs himself into trouble and is prone to turnovers via his kicking.

Unfortunately Tommo jibbed a few contests last week and was very soft on a few tackles, that ended up costly. That won't go unnoticed and I would expect he is spoken to during the week.

Where did Hunt play his best footy? Has he been played there at all lately? I would rather Hunt than AVB and atm Melksham, who has been abysmal.

I would rather anyone than melksham. And that is frustrating because he is od the most talented players in the team.  And he should be a leader. But is playing selfish football.

Yeah. Thought long about that position. For me it all gets back to playing players in positions they have excelled in in a structure that allowed them to excel. Was a toss up for me between ANB and Salem on the bench. Would not mind either

Hunt hasn't done much as a forward. But I believe that he and TMac are career defenders. Play them in position, then I'll judge their form. Sure they can swing a little but they aren't suited forward.

It would be great if we had blokes picking themselves with their performance.

At present, almost every position on the ground could be debated and reasonably argued.

Trac, Max, May and maybe Hibberd are my only guaranteed starters. Hibberd is only based on last week's game too. Every other spot is a raffle

You know that the AFL requires teams playing on a Sunday to name an extended squad don't you? It's not an MFC decision.
