  1. In: Bennell Bennell has the skills and touch we need to score more goals.
  2. TMac is a defender if I have ever seen one. He is fools gold as a power forward. He kicked goals in 2018 finishing off amazing pre-6,6,6 midfield pressure dominance. He did great! But he was always a trumped up swingman. Poor bugger should be an AA defender right now.
  3. Pert spoke of living the dream of the Roos/Jackson model. But the Roos/Jackson handover 4 years on has resulted in 12 wins 25 losses in 2019/20. The coach they handed the baton to has fumbled the baton. It's an industry of fine margins. Goodwin is only a few percent off whack, but that's all it takes to drop games. He's good guy, well liked, but underwhelms in identifying and nurturing player strengths and talent. Time to analyze and assess the changes made since 2017. - have we have brought in the right players (Jack Martin or Tomlinson??), (Lever or 2 first round picks??). - have we have developed our players to their strengths? Is TMac really a power forward?? Or a swingman who finished off mid dominance pre 6,6,6? If we developed Tmac as a defender we would not have needed Lever and we'd have 2 gun picks up forward. I think it is time for fresh eyes across the list. Time for Melksham TMac and Hunt to go the backline where they belong!! And get Salem kicking inside 50. And get Bennell, Bedford and Kozzie in the forward line trapping it in. Does Bennell need to be languishing? 5 devastating Bennell kicks could get us over the line against Swans and Freo. Like Walters showed. Is Goody really inspiring the players to play a defined and confident role? Results are results and his time is up.
  4. Yeah always agree on effort, but these suggestions aren't always Hail Marys. Joel Smith could easily prove a better high marking defensive forward than he would be a smart ball-using defender.
  5. Hib May Lever Hunt TMac Harmes Bennell Viney Langdon Melk Smith Salem Pickett Weed Fritsch Gawn Oliver Petracca Int: Bray, Jonsey, Hannan Lockhart IN: BENNELL HUNT GAWN SMITH JONES OUT: SPARGO SPARROW PREUSS TOMLINSON VANDENBERG MOVES: TMAC AND HUNT BACK, SMITH AND SALEM FORWARD REASONS: Smith would be a forward pressure beast with x-factor marking. - TMac is a defender, so is Hunt - Salem skills needed for the all important inside 50 kick
  6. We have Melksham in that kick inside 50 HFF role. Salem on the other flank might be great. Goodness (and Goody) knows if we can get better going inside 50 we are a finals team. He is useful wherever he is in a team with not many super precise kicks. But if he goes forward we get to see more of Rivers or Hunt in the backline.
  7. I agree. Clearly Smith needs to be tried as an x-factor forward. Time to put all the rogue talent up forward.
  8. Ins this week should be all about curbing INTERCEPT MARKS. I believe Joel 'SOS' Smith has the leap and x-factor to impact deep contests and create a little havoc for our smaller forwards to feast on. He will also probably mark a few and kick a couple. In: Smith Out: Tmac (eyeball)
  9. Nev is a champ. Don't write him off. Rankine is a freakish kid, sure, but Nev is the man.
  10. Exactly! Play Smith forward = less intercept marks. He can leap for everything, like his father before him. Also loved seeing Salem kick inside 50. Rejig to allow more of this. Langdon to dashing HB? Salem to wing?
  11. Quite like this. I've been pushing for Salem and Melk on the wings as they are the superior kicks into 50. But Hannan good too. Still want to see TMac and Hunt back in defense. Targets up forward would be Weed, Fritsch and Smith and with better kicks into them they should do quite well. Good ins overall for this week but want to see more movements.
  12. Hunt hasn't done much as a forward. But I believe that he and TMac are career defenders. Play them in position, then I'll judge their form. Sure they can swing a little but they aren't suited forward.
  13. Langdon and Tomlinson seem to have some new draftee immunity??? Who are these guys? Blasting away not connecting inside 50. Dropped! Goody needs to pick the most dangerous sharp-shooting team he has. Build it again out of sweet kickers and x-factor forwards... FF: Smith Weed Kozzy HF: Hannan Fritsch Bennell ? Salem Petracca Melksham HB: Hunt Lever Hibberd FB: Jetta May Rivers R: Gawn Oliver Bray Int: Viney Jones Van Harmes
  14. I like this but the main aim here is to convert F50 entries. The center line of Langdon Viney Tomlinson can't be trusted to kick inside 50. Make the center line Salem Petracca Melksham. Deadly kicks into 50.
  15. Goodwin career saving rejig is: - Hunt & TMac to backline - Salem & Melk to wing (best inside 50 kicks) - Bennell and Weed to Forward line - Langdon and Tomlinson omitted (Also Viney is not allowed to kick inside 50 anymore.)
  16. Hunt May TMac Rivers Lever Hibberd Salem CP5 Melk Bennell Petty Hannan Koz Smith Fritsch Gawn Oliver Bray Int: Viney Van Jones Harmes Drop Langdon and Tomlinson and Lockhart
  17. Also it's impossible to describe how much we needed Jack Martin. And we had the pick. But instead of selling him on our culture we let him go to Carlton. He kicked 4.1 and was creative going into F50 against the premiers.
  18. Everything needs to be about the kick inside 50. The only players who have the footskills to kick it in there are: N Jones, Salem, Fritsch, Melk and CP5 They are now the only players allowed to kick the ball inside 50. All other players work the 50m perimeter until they get it in the hands of someone who can hit a target. The chosen kicks then should kick it to spot up leads from our forwards or mids or, if they have to, bomb it to Luke Jackson who brings it down to Kozzie, Bedford or Lockhart and resting mids like Oliver and Bray. Tomlinson has to go. Langdon is a great ball winner but has to find players laterally and not try to kick to targets inside 50.
  19. I had a Russian singing teacher who was trained in the harsh traditional way in 1940's Russia. Her wisdom would apply to Trac's goal kicking technique. She would speak of whole body involvement. She would say to be rooted through your legs at all times. 'Remember tree trunks' she would say. When Petracca has a set shot, his attention seems to be only in his head and his body is lagging/ambling behind. From the moment he begins his approach he needs to be told to think only of his tree trunk legs (which in his case are hard to miss!). Then when he arrives to kick they will be engaged appropriately in sync. At the moment he is so laggy his boot sometimes barely hits the ball.
  20. I don't want to change the team, but... If we lose, it's because Rioli and Ryan carve us up going inside 50. We need more pace across half back to keep up. Salem, Lewis, Jetta are all awesome but they aren't fast. Having Hunt, Joel Smith (or even Garlett in a surprise lock down half back game) come in and close space might be the difference. I would push Bailey "Robbie" Fritsch to the wing and drop Tyson in this scenario.
  21. Frost instead of Petty against the Saints and we are top 4 right now.
  22. Being as sober as possible amid the pain - we tried but we weren't good enough this year. We had a "we're pretty good now, aren't we?" sort of season. Next year we need a "Get out of our way!" season. Never once tossed a team aside this year and it ultimately was that which cost us. No place for old sentiment now, (oh poor Trengove, poor Watts) - it's all purged - with this collective pain. Next year Goodwin needs to make these Dees ruthless winners. And we need to stick by them.
