Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Goodwin rejects notion that Dees list is compromised.

"As a coach and a club there are no more excuses for us as a club," Goodwin said before Friday night's crunch match against Essendon.

"Start judging us on our performances and not on our pre-season. We’re ready to go. We’re fit, we’ve got a good 22 that’s going to go out there and play, so let’s judge us on our performances and let’s stop the excuses."

The old “no excuses” excuse. Well the season is already two rounds gone and we weren’t ready to go.

This is the bit that seriously plays with my head.

We weren't ready at the beginning...and I'm still not convinced we're ready now.

Goodwins comments will look good if we win, but if we don't he can assured that no-one from supporters to the media will be accepting excuses.

I find it a strange comment, perhaps reflecting the pressure he is under to turn it around.

Two games in and he is talking about no further excuses, it sounds a little desperate after two games. Mid season or end of season, I could understand.

Better to simply state, we expect to see improvement this week or we are going out expecting to win.

I like that he is strong in his message; strong in tone and demeanor.  Strong in defence of May (conditioning), Jones (role) and Petracca (form).

Thankfully, I get more urgency from Goodwin than all our players in the media this week, put together!

Didn't sense great confidence/belief in a win this week.

I saw little, if anything, last week to suggest a win is likely anytime soon

These sorts of comments from the club really do set themselves up for some very harsh criticism should they roll out another insipid result

Lose this week and I think a lot of people will be saying the modicum of success this team enjoyed late last season was an aberration - and the current state is simply a return to business as usual for this club

It means that we have enough heads to put on the ground - just - and yet, these will most probably be the wrong heads and few of these heads will be what the fans pay dollars at the turnstiles to go to see. Hence, overall, the anonymity of it all. As for the match result, we are 'trying' but do not expect a great return.

That's a quote from renowned wrist-slasher ADC and not Goodwin.

Confidence or Resignation?

Possibly either a sign that Goody has total confidence in the group, the FD and the Player's likelihood of turning it around this week against Essendrug (or not long after)....or he is extremely concerned that the players (or some of them) have fallen into the trap of believing in the compromised pre-season stories.  Goody seeing a sense of urgency lacking?

There's a name for that: recency bias (which is in itself a subset of the availability heuristic).

Not sure what the point is here, or even where this comes from. No-one's been saying that the list is "compromised".

Goodwin just confirms what many have been saying, that we need to "start playing better as a group and a team and start helping each other."

If anything has been "compromised", it's the time we've had together as a team over the summer. Which has already been commented on here by training-watchers prior to the season, and reflected in comments from coaches that it's been hard to work on drills with players unavailable.

I suspect 'compromised' = Walking wounded list to choose from

Absolute twaddle, don't know which bit some on here don't get, we have a team of 22 that has put in two poor performances, one where the midfield failed and were duly criticised,  the other where the midfield started to get it together but the team connection was horrible

We have players stuttering to find match day form, not from an injury point of view but pure and simple form

It may turnaround this week, but it will require 22 working as a team, that is what has been missing last 2 weeks, no excuses any more

I think the club has heard our comments here, and they are trying to show the clubs Image,  in what we deesire.

Not so much an overly sympathetic Mcc style.

... but rather a sterner Footy club members & supporters Image,  of how WE want our club to be seen and heard.   And this is how it ought'a be.

I wonder if the coaching panel were ready for the season start? There have been some strange selection and strategy moves made that have not helped our cause.

So if the players are fit and ready to go, then its the coaches that must step up and lead.

How many are in peak fit shape ??

What you don't get is we believe the results... believe the vision of getting run circles around...of hands on hips, blowing hard.

The Dee's are starting the season as most teams finish it....stuffed.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
