Other teams have players with X-Factor who can turn a game in a few acts (i.e. Buddy, Cyril - until he retired, Danger, DeGoey etc) - who is our player?

Maybe Melksham?

When Petracca realises how good he can be; you can add him to that list.

Petracca ( maybe )

Gawn, Clarry, Tmac, Tracc, Melksham...

If he doesn't already, its only just around the corner: James Harmes

It's a different kind of X-factor, but Gawn is the guy. Remember the 2nd bulldogs game, which was pretty close until just after half-time when we got (i think) four straight goals from perfect centre clearances, every one of which started with a brilliant Gawn tap. We won the game in a five minute burst, and it was all because of a series of perfect hit-outs to advantage.

I suspect Petracca is being named because he hasn't yet delivered consistently what we hoped for so we are now hoping for occasional glimpses. I think our X-factor player might be Garlett, except that I don't think he'll get a chance to show it. And that's possibly a good thing as it suggested we can trust the rest of our team to get the job done.

Agree here... harmes would fly right under the radar but always seems to brush off a tackle or two and make things happen

In time I really hope it will be Petracca. I would have said Garlett in the past.

I guess its ok for where our list is to not have a true X-factor player at the moment. Right now we've got a bunch of real honest toilers who have a bit of class.

Agree, Harmes has something about him that makes him very dangerous. The surprise packet of 2018.

He’s an opportunist who is just beginning to realise how dangerous he could be.

Oliver.

Im surprised no one has mentioned him yet. Perhaps because he is consistently brilliant. He does things that just takes your breath away

I think Oliver is a given. It's like saying the sun is hot.

I'll have to say Fritch because he reminds me of a "ballet dancer" who played for us.

Hannan  is exciting to watch when he is on song!

Fritch

We take Oliver for granted. He does some amazing things in the middle that he makes look easy.

What we are looking for is a goal kicker close to goal.

Oliver might become that, although I'm not sure he'll ever reach Dusty Martin levels as a deep forward, so he might often be the guy who sets up the goal not the one who kicks it. Petracca is the one who can turn an ounce of space in to a goal scoring opportunity.

I'd love to see Petracca one out in the square more. And of course a revitalised Hogan playing at full confidence. Until then we use Melksham as a medium and Tommy Mc as the go to tall. We're probably looking for that small.

Not sure about X-factor, but Hannan seems to have his eye on mark of the year at some stage of his career.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
