Round 3 Non MFC games

In the pregame news it was good to see Clarkson come out and say the AFL needs to stop rewarding 'head high' free kicks, ala Selwood.  His point is that if the AFL is serious about protecting the head it needs to minimise risk of head injury now or later in a players life.

More on his thoughts in this article:

A new technique is where the player with the ball doesn't drop the knees but leans to one side and lays his head in the attacker's arms. Free kick!

Many players do it and it is a blight on the game.

Carlton to win by 4-5 goals. Collingwood are pathetic. Look at their line up, it's horrible... Their key position stocks rival VFL standard, Dunn down back is really their only "tall" then injury prone Reid & Mason Cox up forward, lol. Can't wait to see them smashed.. Honestly can't see them getting within 4 goals

It’s about time a big name in the AFL Has brought this up he even threw his own players under the bus in poppy and Sicily, it’s a disgraceful act boardering on cheating imo

Wow. A Friday night game between 16th and 17th with no wins between them and a combined percentage between them when added together relates to the percentage of the third placed team..... Blockbuster defined.

If the AFL could manage to follow their own "interpretation" of this, it wouldn't be an issue.

But who am I kidding ...

Whatta rort !!!  the AFL rorting it's own.

Its positively cannibalistic.

When teams are down, they are supposed to spend their time down making a mends to their list, and culture.

Not flying high off the backs of other struggling clubs who have done the hard yards, & ave been do things tough...

The manufacture build up to this game was embarrassing! They are chit trucks and we all know it. Acting like these is a big makes no sense.

In saying that hearing Eddie pre-game talking about his club v the blues was something I feel like we miss.

Pies are looking good.  Cripps and Curnow not as impressive as I expected.  Blues don’t look like scoring.  Still a long way to go in this game but Buckley looks safe....

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
