Have to agree. If they chose not to pick him round 1 with the cats having two talks can't see why they would pick him next week. The problem for frosty is we can't afford another player who turns the ball over.

That said hunt is struggling so they may be tempted to do a straight swap

Yes no big forwards have got the better of us yet on the scoreboard. That Ranetogua or what ever gave us a bit of trouble in mark duals which led to goals.  Menzel with 4.2 should have been 6 ,Christensen with 3 and Cameron with 3 killed us and I know arent Bigs. Our versatility is non cexistant with Lewis, Jetta and Hunt playing on Medium ,small forwards.

Bugg played a defensive role on Hodge, but his skills are too limiting.

I'd like to see:

We gave North a smacking that day due to an almost four quarter strong team defence game which made life easy for our defenders. Both teams were basically at full strength.

Fost is most definitely not needed imo.

We just need individuals to start playing high level four quarter footy.

I think someone has to replace Hunt who looks like he's really struggling and he's too important to keep playing whilst injured and risk something long term - and a long term drop in confidence.

Could be Vince and bring in a midfielder but Higgins is dangerous so Bernie tagging and bringing in a different defender makes sense. 

Frost is in a different role but brings speed to replace some of what Hunt brings and frees Lever up and Frost is about the only ready to play defender we've got a Casey as far as I know. Brayshaw mid or half back the other option but I'd rather Lever at half back. Stretch in on Hartung's wing is another option with Jones or Tyson more on ball.

Lever was very good on Waite in Hobart but unless Brad Scott is stupid he won't have Waite just sitting around half forward as he did in Tassie. It will be Lever one out deep if that's the match up. Just as Chris Scott did.

North played 22 and swapped players at half time, compared to our 24 and took off good players for the second half. 

And the score at half time was 8.3 to 6.4. 11 points hardly a lot between the sides.

The main difference up until that point of time was the number of goals Majak Daw had conceded, it was 3-4 in the first half alone. Take Majak out and it would've been much more even. 

Midfield spread and defensive one on one failures will determine if we win or lose against North. Cut out the errors that lead to easy goals.

Really I'm far from a Frost fan but I just see Lever struggling left deep one on one and Hunt just doesn't seem right and I hate playing unhealthy players especially so early in the year. I'm very keen to see a legitimate Casey game soon because I've got a sneaky feeling Harry Petty will be a player and I'd pull a Sheedy style move and chuck him in if he's up to it.

Any reason to drop Bernie who well and truly did his job on one of the games most underrated stars and replace him with Brayshaw who's getting a lot of credit for his draft status and not his football?

Bugg is severely limited that's for sure, although pot luck tells me he kicks at least 1 of the 3 or 4 shots he missed most days. But I think he has to stay as others play better alongside him. His voice is strong and he gets the other forwards defending as a unit. Garlett massively stepped up the efficiency of his pressure with Bugg next to him and Hogan chased down a speedy kid. I think we'll find enough goals even with Buggy butchering a few easy chances but we can't afford to not have our forward pressure game working with the state of our midfield and backline's defensive issues.

Zorko was tagged more effectively the week before.  I doubt there will be a run with role against North, but if there was I'd have as much faith in Salem to do the job. 

I think Brayshaw will be a very good player for us, so Vince makes way. 

Bugg is just a very limited ball butcher.  Clearly, I think you greatly overate his value to the team (and Garlett).

In the end the main thing that matters is whole-game effort, which is mostly between the ears so very hard to select for.

I'm agreeing more and more with the 'Frost in' comments, an extra, very mobile tall is needed. Hopefully that resets the defensive roles to get the most out of Lever.

Lots of mids and sort-of-mids who aren't quite delivering. Vince has a question mark on him for sure. With Melksham playing his role so well, I don't see a need for Bugg even if he were in ok form.

My overall feeling is that a couple of underperforming mid-flankers need to be dropped to allow an extra 'true' mid (that'd be Brayshaw, to my mind) to come in. Bit of a shuffle really - one extra right int he middle and someone falls off the side of the boat. Oliver is being a beast in there but after Jones there isn't enough support.

Ben will probably bang up pretty much anyone we put on him BBP if we don't match up/set up and have an organised disciplined defence as well as solid pressure up the field (obviously).

Has Frost learned a little over the break from further coaching?  I would think part of defending Brown (apart from closer checking and getting numbers around the contest ...Lever?) is running him big time up the field (chasing his opponent on the fast break counter) and making sure he doesn't have a full tank for multiple leads when the ball's coming back in to him.  Frost probably the only tall capable in this regard at this point.  Who else would you be considering for this match up BBP?

I would be considering O Mac on Brown, our ‘premier’ defender who’s had an outstanding start to the season.

he held Brown to 2 in the JLT which could give him confidence.

I’m not averse to Frost coming back in, just not on Brown. Perhaps Waite!?

Random opinions with the odd fact:

I had the misfortune to see a little of the norf-saints joke of a game and only saw Waite in the backline.

I think there's logic in bringing Frost in to free up Lever but not if Waite sits in their backline.

While Bugg brings a lot of pressure to the forward line, he brings nothing else and I couldn't stand to see him kick more points when a lot of hard work has given him an easy shot at goal.

We also beat North in last years JLT which stood for exactly naught so I wouldn't be trotting out the same formula.

I agree with others that if Vince isn't tagging, I cant see him and Lewis (ordinary) in the backline and don't want to either. So either Vince gets Higgins or Ziebell (not in great form) or one of them gets a week off for being an old man - cant see it.

Hannan tore it up at Casey.

I want Salem to be given time to grow into his role way to much skill and execution.

Out - Hunt (inj) Bugg

In - Brayshaw or Frost (depending on height requirements) and Hannan

PS - not remotely excited by ANB's form in terms of decision making and execution. Would be happy to have him as another out for say Brayshaw.

Rather, if we're the side we are supposed to be we should dominate North and simply starve Brown of opportunities.

Not sure of correlation/relevance.

Their first game was played in a cyclone.

Their second game was played against a potential bottom 4 candidate, plus St Kilda had 18 scoring shots (5-13) from 47 inside 50s (30% scoring rate, completely equal to North's 20 shots from 67 inside 50s).

7.13 in a flood against the Suns wasn't a good result but it's looking like the Suns are a competitive team.

They were very good against the Saints although bad kicking for goal cost the Saints several goals. They have a mostly experienced backline, in fact their whole team isn't that young. It will take good entries and good forward play to score, but I'm more concerned about their ability to run forward and score out the back which they did very well in the 2nd half against the Saints.

At this stage of the week I'm thinking this:

IN: Frost (as others have stated, allows us to free up Lever. Without Frost it leaves us with Waite & Brown Vs Oscar & Lever, no real room to move if one gets a hold of us)

OUT: Hunt (Has been disappointing the first 2 weeks, has looked all over the place.. Panicked a few times down back & gave away some unnecessary free kicks and also hasn't had his usual run & gun. Send him to Casey & let him find the footy & dominate a game)

They played on a flooded ground and Saints were 2.10 @ half time, don’t give them too much credit!
