Not sure about that.

Looks like it should be: Jack Viney, delayed start from pre xmas to mid January.

Seems they are being very conservative and he's coming along slowly.

I'd also like to know how Sam Weideman is training the house down whilst also being stuck in the inside group. What exactly has led him to be held back so much? Any time estimate on when he can't start at least out door running?

I imagine that he's inside, where the weight room is.

I hope he does not look like a former No-4, come March 2018.

Squats, squats, bench-press & more squats.  And get Alistair Lynch over, to help him.

The foot injury seems quite serious. He's now delayed training start until mid January. That's a 6 months lay-off before resuming training. Let's just hope the club give it the time it needs and get it right. Foot injuries can derail careers, as we've seem with numerous players the last few years, so I hope the club medical staff have learnt some lessons and earn their keep here. A fit and firing Viney is one of the keys to our premiership success.

My MFCSS Pavlovian conditioning:

Minor delay reported on a return from foot injury during early pre-season =

Persistent feelings of deep unease characterised by sharper periods of anguish, anger, despair and self-pity prior to a settled recurrent state of weary fatalistic acceptance.

Training the weights room down?

MFCSS coming out already.

From years of watching training, every week not in full training after Christmas is a week less for start of the season.

For a mid who can't get in the running miles done in the pre-season, it affects their endurance come the real game.

Well once he's smashed it to the ground I hope he comes out in to the sun to run a few laps. Size matters for young talls but endurance is just as important if not more these days.

Serious injury Viney has. However he will come out of this just fine, l have belief. He won't take long to show his best he is a dedicated Demon. GO Jack.

What is the exact type of injury he has again?

Due to the original plantar fascia pain he had and the subsequent surgery to relieve it, it was reported that he was compensating for it with his running style and therefore placed strain on other areas of his foot which brought about this new issue. What it is exactly has still not been reported to my knowledge.

1.  He is not on track, he is in the gym and on the anti G running machine.

2.  He looks in good nick.  May not be doing loaded running yet, but probably very fit just the same.

3.  Sounds like a cautious approach, to temper his personal desire to rush back.  Knows he needs to be healed, then loaded, then he can ‘go’.

4.  The last 2 seconds of the video- looks like he could kill someone with his laser beam stare.  My god, wouldn’t want to get in between him and something he wanted.

5.  Why the panic?  A nice op ed piece, feeling good, progressing well.  Why would you read more than this into it?

"Nope, not convinced he'll be right" - Demonland

Any chance some of you people's MFCSS will ever be cured?

There's only one reason to offload weightbearing for that period of time, and that's bone pathology. Best case is he had a hotspot in his foot (the lead up to a stress fracture), in which case they've taken a very conservative, long term approach, worst case is a frank stress fracture, which spells a lot more trouble. Fingers crossed. The club is being oddly elusive about it.

There is little doubt that he would let us down come the new footy season. Let him recover - on the training and preparation side of things, Viney is a benchmark to all players across all clubs.

If he missed the 6 games (not 2) like he was originally supposed to would he be in this mess?

Wasn't as if it was worth him coming back early. He was a non-entity in 3 of the 4 games he played upon his return..

Yeah thought his comeback was way too early.

if this becomes an issue, you have to ask some questions. getting injured in the swans game suggests he came back far too early.

I would suggest footy fans, especially 2-4 Demons fans, consistently on the back end of dubious football news, have every right to be skeptical.

Footy is lies.

I recall an article shortly after the season ended where he specifically stated that there was a hot spot in his foot, and given their experience they wanted to be conservative; that even if we did make finals his involvement was unlikely.

hope it's not too serious. i would have thought a hot spot should have mended by now. Long time ago i had a hairline fracture in my heel which mended itself in less time and i didn't use any aids at all because I only found out after it had mended via xray.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
