I don't mean to be a party pooper but has anyone actually thought about the probabilities of Tom McDonald kicking his fifth and match winning goal over his head, in Perth with 20 seconds to go?

I dropped my toast this morning and it landed vegemite side up. I'm not liking the signs

I was actually worried about how we might need to restructure our foward play around a strong focal point for Hogan when he comes back, but last night proves we can do it.  I think Hogan will also be pretty happy with some of the delivery into the forwardline at the moment.

Yeh it's a very good point... We do seem to move the ball a lot better when we're not dump kicking or bombing under pressure to Hogan.... It's been proven this season

I think though when the going gets really tough and the take no prisoners finals comes around you need guys like Hogan/Gawn/Weed (I know hes too young right now) to be there to take grabs and bring the ball to ground.

If you don't have those big guys up forward I think as a team in big games you get exposed.

For me why are WCE so poor at the moment///??? Their team balance is out. If Kennedy plays for WCE yesterday, WCE win. Because McGovern takes those strong grabs in defence - Pedo/T Mac don't take those grabs and instead of can't kick McGovern shooting at goal for WCE you have a coleman medallist.

While I love our fast unpredictable forward line - I think it gets exposed in really big games without Hogan there

I think most of us realise it was a fluke based on good luck and good circumstance - see my post above....

But I'm not sure what your point is? DOn't enjoy a win?

When Hannan goes to the contest, either something good happens for us or something bad happens for the opposition. To my way of thinking, this guy is the pick up of the year....... for any team.

Reviewed the Hurn/Viney incident several times and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Both players were courageous and going for the ball. Hurn just got there a fraction quicker with his hand. If Viney gets suspended then time for the mob to descend on AFL House and burn it down.

Can't we just do that regardless?

I survived , I was behind the goals the as the ball sailed through I stood up double fisted pump the air  and yelled out a very long Yesssssssss that you may have heard on the east coast surrounded by some of the most one eyed supporters I have everseen.

That was you? You bloody legend.

I think a few thought that might have been me because of my earlier post, but I was on the wing.

I love Melbourne supporters. We have this unashamed passion borne from years of being in the wilderness that means we are used to being outnumbered and just yell louder. We've got nothing to lose, and it shows.

Dissapointed in the coverage in the Herald Sun, Tommy M was on the backpage but we just got a small match report a out ten pages in. Dogs got about 5 pages, hey ho.

Oh and let's not forget all the articles about the druggies. One even back to the 90's. Give me a break.

The problem is that Hurn was more injured than Dangerfield was (not a criticism of Hurn, btw.).

Shuey was charged but it was careless with low impact to the head. That's a $1,500 sanction, down to $1,000 with a plea.

If Viney is charged, he might get careless and medium impact to the head. That's 2 matches down to 1 match with a plea.

The issue is whether or not Viney gets charged at al. Dale Thomas got off because the MRP said he was contesting the ball, therefore no reportable offence. If the MRP says Viney was contesting the ball, then he should be fine. Otherwise, he'll get a week (assuming it was "medium" impact as it forced Hurn from the field),

Viney jumped up to punch the ball away. In play and just for the record, Hurn is reported as having a sore chest. Therefore most likely contact to the chest in play.

If Shuey got off for running past the ball and cleaning Danger up in the head, then nothing here.

On the other hand he is a Demon so life ban.

My wife walked into the front room where I was watching the game last night just as Plugger Mac kicked the winner. She looked at me strangely, as I was standing right in front of the TV shaking my fists in a more animated version of Goody. It took me a while to explain we'd just gone in front with 20 secs to go because I was panting quite hard.

she understood in the end, I think. Took me a while to wind down!

Hahaha my wife who goes for the dogs was leaping up and down fists in the air in front of the TV with me when he kicked that goal. Man I love my wife! ❤️

Woke up this morning and wondered was it all a dream.

Watched replay over breakfast.

Noted blatant back push on Oliver at around 2 mins to go on boundary line.

Still didnt stop us winning.

It such a tough year you need to win games you dont expect.

Well done Dees this one goes down in history for me.

That must of really stung those mad eagles fans.

Loved the Melbourne supporter in crowd (Left of left goal or behind post) in black.

His reaction speaks for all of us.

On Saturday night scoreboard which followed our game,  Ben Dixon and Kate Sheehan were praising the game of Max Gawn in regards to his 19 hitouts to advantage in his first game back from a long absence.

To quote Brad Johnson, the so called host of this show in reply to their praise of Max. " He's done that on the back of one game in the 2's so he was ready to do that."

I hope that not one dollar from my Foxtel subscription goes to a buffoon like Johnson. It's bewildering the amount of times these so called experts misinform the viewers and getting paid top dollar to do it. You can't value their opinions at all, that's why Demonland is the best fan forum around for opinions, discussions and humour. Keep up the good work team!

Best Sunday ever coming up!!!

Yes I spat out my beer when he said that!

And let's not forget that Basil Zemplis moron. He called Pedo 'Garland', (forget player) 'Oliver' and Tom/Oscar the wrong way around.

Fair dinkum. Who the hell is this guy and how did he get this gig? God knows how much he gets paid- at least learn the players' names.

now we're exiting irrelevancy, these clowns need to do their homework!

That block by Frosty at the end which allowed Lewis to mark uncontested was great too.

The umpires must be kicking themselves that they let that one go.

Seriously, that umpiring from about the second quarter onwards was pathetic.

Frost tripped, Hibberd grabbed over the shoulder, Melksham penalised for a West Coast player falling over.

We need a supporter with too much time on their hands to make a video with them all like the nuffie Collingwood supporter did.

We were lucky we didn't have the WB vs North umpires.  They paid a similar block as an 'illegal shepherd' against Mason Wood and Brown's goal was disallowed in the dying seconds!

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
