We won another three quarters this week. We've only lost one quarter (the third tonight) since half-time on QB.

We're equal-third for quarters won this year, on 33. Port's on 35, Adelaide 34, GWS also 33.

Next highest after us is Sydney on 27 (Geelong can get to 28 by winning all four tomorrow).

Point being, there will be a 5 or 6 quarter gap between the (dare I say it) top 4 and the rest...

Guts, grind, self belief & belief in the team mate down the line. Against the odds & umps.

ABBA had an album called 'Arrival' - ashamed to admit I have it somewhere & it could get a spin tonight -'cause we just did.

Love ya Dees!!

The most impressive thing tonight was that in the last two minutes, with the game on the line, we win every clearance, every contest.

We seriously lacked composure in our close losses this year. Tonight we showed a composure and will to win we haven't seen for 11 years.

Can't post properly. Still shaking. Can't believe that win. [censored] incredible effort! Viney Tmac and Oliver were immense. How good is this young list!

A Vardy like performance

A name that has gone down in Western Australian performances by the Dees

Now it will be known as .... "Doing a Mac Donald"

Well done Dees

The MFCSS mist is dissipating

Yes Dees! Still pumped! Predicting Tommy Mac to  kick 5 including the winner in the last 30 seconds would have got you carted  off in a white coat this morning. Old Dee, I hope that lid is buried somewhere deep in the Amazonian jungle!

Not since another game against the Eagles, one week and 12 years ago, have I felt this positive about the Demons.

The poetry of these last three games, each one against an opponent at the same spot on the ladder, each time winning and moving on one more step.

It is all very beautiful.

What a spectacle seeing all the lads gleefully running to the Eagles end of the ground after Tommy's hallelujah goal !!

Knew what to do ;)

Silly as it sounds Lewis's mark at the end was timely. Sure siren had just gone but that mark needed taking.

Go you good Dees ???

What a magnificent win and what a great leadership shown by Jack Viney.  The efforts of Cam Pedersen and Tom McDonald in the last quarter were magnificent.  Were back baby and bring on Friday night where I hope to celebrate my 59th birthday with a great win against Sydney. Bring on the big stage of Friday night football and lets get 70,000 at the mcg and make a big statement to the competition.  CARN THE DEMONS.

Wow. That was special. I am still chugging down the VBs. That win was as gutsy as I have seen from Melbourne.

They never gave up! What champions! The Eagles seemed a lot bigger than us and we didnt look like we could compete with their talls. Enter Plugger McDonald; what a game. So good that it was McGovern who was trying to tackle him for that last goal. The best thing was that on one of the replays you can see McGovern look straight to the umpire while he was lying on the ground expecting him to do something about it!

When the inferior Jetta missed that goal was when I started to think, hmmm. Just had that feel to it.

The effort that went in to the last goal was immense. It goes down on the score sheet to PMac, but it had the blood and sweat from 22 of them. They were tired and injured, but they just kept grinding it forward with everything they had. I think it's the sheer guts of it that has made me giddy.

Lol @ the inferior Jetta. Damn straight!

And the best part was we didn't carry on celebrating, Tom was the first to tell everyone to get back. Great leadership and poise.

I still have no idea how or what happened, but dammit this is the last time I'm ever booking September holidays.

I think we stole it.  Last week was class, this week was grunt.  Outmarked, out tackled, poor handball to kick ratio.  Smashed in centre clearances ( and scores from).  3 point winners, a few standouts, a lot running behind their Eagle player.  Not sticking tackles.

however, we won.  [censored] brilliant.  Does the ticker no good at all.  Go Dees!

Jack Viney's game tonight is one of the most courageous performances I've seen from a captain in Melbourne colours. He is toughness personified, he will get all coaches votes and should have it double.

Tommy Mac, wow. What a night, 5 goals anywhere anytime is good. Against the eagles on their home turf, amazing.

What a game!

about 2.24 left in the final quarter, viney flung a tackler off his injured shoulder like he was a piece of skid marked bog paper

Tom Mac's goal was unbelievable! And thanks to some misses from West Coast late.

It was that Hill miss on goal after he marked. I said 'game over' when he took it. Then the game turned...

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
